His Mistress is His Ex-Wife -
Chapter 60: Decision
Chapter 60: Decision
[ At W Diamond Group... ]
As the meeting concluded, the board members and shareholders left the conference hall while Chairman Alfonso stayed, summoning the Marketing Team in charge of the Product Launch.
"I believe this is clear to all of you. The decision has been made and Athena was chosen by the majority. With this, I want your team to do everything to make her sign with us and become our endorser. Give her an enticing offer that she can’t refuse." Chairman Alfonso instructed them.
"Many companies are interested in collaborating with her. We should win her first!" He added.
Sasha, who couldn’t accept her defeat, just stood there in silence. She had a firm stance on her preferred choice.
’It’s alright! If that woman refuses our offer, I can just recruit Minerva. I haven’t lost yet as long as Athena hasn’t signed a contract with us.’ Sasha was thinking of offending Athena so that she wouldn’t accept the offer from W Diamond Group.
"I will set an appointment with Athena’s manager," Sasha volunteered, concealing her real intention.
However, Alfonso wasn’t a fool. He could see through her plan.
"I want you to bring Bella with you once you discuss the offer with Athena and her manager. She’s the one who recommended Athena. Bella might be of great help in convincing them to sign with us." Alfonso glanced at Bella who was still over the moon for winning the deliberation.
"Thank you, Chairman, for trusting me. I will do my best!" Bella responded with sparkling determination in her eyes.
"Very good. I will leave this matter to the both of you. Give me a piece of good news soon. You are now dismissed."
Bella and Sasha left the meeting room. As they both entered the elevator, the atmosphere became more tense. Sasha continued to ignore Bella’s presence as if she was invisible. Furthermore, Sasha didn’t even apologize to Bella for slapping her with no valid reason.
’Oh no. Director Sasha Smith is a scary fellow. I’m just so unlucky to fall on her bad side as soon as we met.’ Bella felt like crying when she thought about it.
She had a nagging feeling that her next few days in the W Diamond Group would be hell. The head of the marketing team hated her, yet she was still clueless about how she angered Sasha.
’Sigh. Will I be able to survive this? I wonder how long I can keep my job here before getting fired or submitting my resignation letter.’ Bella started to think about her fate in this company.
Ding!
The sound of the elevator snapped Bella out of her deep thoughts. Sasha stepped out first, heading to their Department.
Bella breathed a sigh of relief since Sasha disappeared from her side. She felt immense pressure in Sasha’s presence.
"I don’t feel like going inside our office. Can I just go outside to unwind? I need to take care of my mental health," Bella murmured to herself.
And as if someone heard her prayer, Bella’s phone vibrates in her pocket. She retrieved it, glancing at her phone screen. Her eyes lit up when she saw the name of her friend.
[ Bella, are you free during lunch? Shall we meet? It’s my treat! By the way, Congratulations on your new job. Sorry, I greeted you late. I was so busy for the past few days. ]
With eyes brimming with excitement, Bella typed her reply eagerly.
[ Absolutely! I’m available. Let’s meet up at our usual restaurant, same spot! I’ve been feeling down lately, so I’m counting on you to lift my spirits with some delicious food! Catch you later. ]
With that simple text message from her special friend, Bella’s mood brightened up. She forgot about her concern related to Sasha.
When she entered their office, some of her colleagues greeted her with congratulatory words. But they made sure that Director Smith wouldn’t hear them.
Advertising Coordinator: "Bella, I heard from our assistant director that you did a great job during the presentation! We thought you wouldn’t be able to convince them. This is an unexpected win!"
Marketing Analyst: "Mr. Dominique Smith attended the board meeting. Do you know that he has the biggest voting points among them? His vote surely went to Minerva, supporting his wife, Director Smith. The majority of board members are close to Mr. Smith. So winning against our Director was impossible. How did you manage to turn the tide?"
Bella could only smile sheepishly. She didn’t know what to say.
"Maybe, I just got lucky." Bella scratched the tip of her nose.
Marketing Analyst: "Wait? Does it mean Mr. Smith didn’t influence the other board members, that’s why you won?"
"Uhm, I think... Mr. Smith was the one who turned the tide!" Bella declared.
Bella’s colleagues exchanged glances with one another, skeptical of her last remarks.
Advertising Coordinator: "Eh? What do you mean?!"
"In the last minute, Minerva was leading with six points. But when the last vote was submitted Athena got ten points. I think that vote came from Mr. Smith. His one vote is equivalent to ten points."
Bella’s colleagues were surprised to hear that.
Marketing Analyst: "Eh? Did Mr. Smith betray his wife? Did they argue?"
Advertising Coordinator: "No wonder, Director Smith is in a bad mood."
"Shh! Keep this between us. I believe Director Smith was unaware because she seemed so sure of winning. I was the only one who stayed focused on the screen until the last vote was counted by the system," she whispered, motioning to maintain confidentiality.
"It seemed like an urgent matter arose. Mr. Smith hastily left the meeting room after casting his vote, leaving the others bewildered," she remarked.
The Marketing Analyst snapped his fingers, signaling his conclusion. "I believe I’ve figured out what happened!" he exclaimed confidently.
Bella and the Advertising Coordinator gazed at him with a mix of puzzlement and anticipation.
"Oh! You truly live up to your position as a Marketing Analyst. So what is your analysis of this situation?" The Advertising Coordinator probed.
"Hehe! It’s simple. Mr. Smith made a mistake. He cast and submitted the wrong vote because he was in a hurry to address the urgent concern," the Marketing Analyst said matter-of-factly.
