The next morning, Lanny was awakened by the sound of a doorbell. She rubbed her eyes, trying to wash away her sleepiness. She was about to get off the bed when a strong arm pulled her closer.

Enzo was cuddling her in his arms, nuzzling his nose on the crook of her neck. He was half-asleep when he felt her movement.

Lanny smiled tenderly after seeing his gorgeous face. Ignoring the ringing sound of the doorbell, she sunk her body into his embrace, hugging him back.

But moments later, the door was pushed open from the outside and the worrying Alice barged into the room.

He had been unreachable since last night. Thinking that something bad happened to him, Alice requested the hotel staff to open his door using the master keycard of the hotel. She just wanted to check on his status.

But to her surprise, a shocking sight welcomed her into the room. Lying on the bed, Enzo and Lanny were hugging each other.

"Enzo? Lanny?" Alice gasped in disbelief. Her body trembled from the shock.

She didn’t expect to see them together. Their clothes were scattered on the floor so she could already tell what transpired in that room last night.

"How could you do this, Enzo?" Alice screamed, catching Lanny’s attention and waking up Enzo.

Lanny quickly sat up when she heard Alice’s voice. "Alice..."

Enzo peeled his eyes open only to see Alice’s devastating expression. "Alice," he mumbled her name. Then he shifted his gaze to the woman beside him.

Alice shook her head vehemently before she stormed out of the room without looking back. She was hurt by Enzo’s betrayal.

She thought she could fix their relationship and start anew. But who would have thought that Enzo was having an affair with Lanny?

’When did they start sleeping with each other? Did he cheat on me purposely?’

Alice kept running, her tears falling from the corners of her eyes. She was heartbroken.

She had been worried about Enzo last night. And now, she would find out that he had sex with Lanny behind her back. That was so unfair!

Meanwhile, back in Enzo’s room, Lanny started to put her clothes on. Enzo remained seated on the edge of his bed, rubbing his temples.

"What do you plan to do? Are you not going to chase after her and explain?" Lanny asked him, raising her eyebrow. She just pretended she didn’t care whether he would chase after her or not.

Enzo lifted his head, staring sharply at Lanny.

"Why are you looking at me like that? Are you mad? Don’t blame me. It’s not my fault that we got caught by Alice." Lanny sounded like she didn’t feel guilty at all. For her, her intimate moment with Enzo was nothing serious.

Seeing her nonchalant behavior, Enzo became more annoyed and enraged. With Lanny’s tone, he felt like she was pushing him to Alice.

Unable to control his frustration, Enzo grabbed her, pulling her back to the bed.

"What are you trying to do, Lanny? I can’t figure you out. Last night, you stopped me from seeing Alice. And now, you are pushing me toward her. You are making me confused. Are you having fun playing with my emotions?" Enzo snarled at her, his grip on her arm tightened.

Meanwhile, Lanny pursed her lips and narrowed her eyes on Enzo. "You were the one who asked me not to leave. Why are you getting mad? I fulfilled your wish last night. And I bet you had fun."

Enzo gazed at her with his seething eyes. He hated it whenever Lanny would make him feel that what they had meant nothing to her.

"Why are you here? Why did you follow us here?" Enzo interrogated her again, his voice was as cold as winter snow.

He had enough of Lanny’s confusing acts. He needed to know what she wanted from him.

"Whoa. Don’t be assuming, Enzo. I didn’t follow you here. I just happened to have an important meeting here today. I didn’t know that you were here." Lanny lied without batting an eyelid. She would never admit to him that she indeed followed him in this city.

"This is the last time I will ask you this, Lanny," Enzo declared in his stern cold voice.

"Do you want to be with me or not?" he stared at her intently, anticipating her response.

Lanny could feel the heavy tension between them. His question somehow put her under pressure.

’Do I want him? Do I want to be with him?’ Lanny also asked herself inwardly, swallowing hard. Her heart started to race as she met his penetrating gaze.

Enzo gripped her hand tightly, not wanting to let her go. He was waiting for Lanny to confess her feelings. He wanted to know if she liked him.

If she would say yes, then he would be more than willing to be Kimmy’s father. He would take responsibility for her. He would ask her to marry him.

However, Lanny’s stubbornness was at its peak as she said, "No!"

Enzo’s heart shattered upon hearing that. His body shook as he burst into a humorless laughter. He shook his head in disbelief.
