Chapter 269: Awkward Meet-Up

"Hey Stop drinking already. You can’t afford to have a hangover tomorrow during my concert," Athena snatched the bottle of beer from Lanny’s hand.

Lanny pouted his lips, putting on a pitiful face. Athena could only laugh seeing her expression.

"Oh, girl. Tell me. What is this all about? Why are you sulking here?"

Lanny heaved a frustrated sigh. "I just can’t believe that your brother is giving Alice a second chance. Does he love her so much?"

Athena smiled at her teasingly. "Hey. Are you jealous?"

"Of course NOT!" Lanny denied it. But Athena didn’t believe her words.

"Your actions contradict your words. Haha. If you don’t want them to reconcile and be together again, then why don’t you just confess your feelings for my brother?"

Lanny just rolled her eyes skyward as she took her beer back from Athena.

"Please be quiet, Athena Ivankov. Just give me some space. I want to enjoy my bottle of beer. Just focus on your concert for tomorrow."

"Alright. I leave you here for a moment. I still need to practice my dance performance. I can’t let Therese outshine me." Athena pinched Lanny’s cheeks as she reminded her, "Don’t drink too much. Okay?"

"Yes. I know. Now go!" Lanny wanted to be alone for a moment. She was still upset since Enzo left together with Alice. And she didn’t know where the two of them went.

On the other hand, Athena proceeded to her music room. She continued practicing her dance steps.

While she was in the middle of her practice, her phone rang. It was a call coming from Dominique. Athena paused the music for a moment as she decided to answer the call.

"Hello?" Her tone was a little bit cold.

"Athena, are you still upset with me?" Dominique asked her. "You’ve been ignoring my calls."

"No. I’m just busy. You know... I have a concert tomorrow. I’ve been practicing my performance."

Dominique felt relieved when he heard that. The heavy burden on his shoulders had been lifted up. He was glad that Athena was no longer upset with him.

"Can I see you for a moment? I’m on my way to YG Entertainment."

Athena frowned. "No. Don’t go there. I’m currently at home."

"Alright. I’ll drop by your place. Wait for me." Dominique didn’t wait for her response. He immediately dropped the call and changed his destination.

Athena just took a deep sigh as she watched her phone screen. "I need to wash up and change first before Dominique arrives."

Athena stepped out of her music room and informed Lanny about her plan.

"Lanny, I’m going to meet Dominique later. We might eat dinner together. Can you stay here and wait for my brother to come home?"

Lanny waved her hand. "Just go. I’ll take care of your brother. Do you want me to cook dinner for him?"

"Sure. I have frozen meat in the fridge, including some fresh vegetables and other ingredients. You decide what kind of menu you are going to cook for him. Besides, you already know his favorites."

"Got it, Dear. Good luck. Just go home early. You have a concert tomorrow." Lanny reminded her.

"Yes. I will."

Thirty minutes later...

Dominique arrived at Athena’s penthouse. Athena made him wait outside since she couldn’t invite him to her place. Enzo might come home and she didn’t want Dominique to know that Enzo was staying in her house at the moment.

"Shall we go?" Athena greeted him with a smile.

Dominique nodded and opened the car door for her.

"Where do you wanna eat?" He asked her as they both settled down inside the car.

"Your choice."

"Okay. I know a good place." Dominique leaned over as he fastened Athena’s seatbelt.

Athena didn’t move as she smelled his masculine scent. She immediately looked away to conceal her emotions. For a reason, Dominique could easily make her body weak just by getting so close to her.

As he drove the car, Dominique couldn’t contain his good mood. He just felt so happy to be with Athena tonight. He had been missing her a lot.

It did not take long before the two of them reached their destination. Dominique chose a cozy yet low-key restaurant outside York City. Since he needed to protect Athena’s image, he couldn’t let other people see him on a dinner date with her. In the eyes of the public, he was still a married man.

They were about to choose a table when suddenly they bumped into someone they knew.

"Athena?"

Athena froze in her spot when she recognized that voice. ’Shit. He is here...’

Athena glanced at Vladimir guiltily. She felt like she was caught cheating on his boyfriend right now.

Dominique and Vladimir exchanged sharp looks at each other, both of them appeared to be displeased.

"Oh. Mr. Ivankov, what are you doing here? Are you on a date?" Dominique was the first one who spoke up. His eyes gestured to the woman standing next to Vladimir. It was Luna, Vladimir’s subordinate.

Vladimir and Luna just finished their meeting with a very important client. They didn’t expect to see Athena and Dominique together.

Vladimir just ignored Dominique’s question. He gazed at Athena, giving her a questioning look.

"Why are you here? I thought you were resting at home. You have a concert tomorrow." Vladimir sounded like a strict father questioning Athena.

Athena bit her lower lip as she didn’t know what to say to Vladimir. It felt so awkward getting caught by him like this.

"I–" Athena stammered a bit.

"I invited her to have dinner with me," Dominique spoke up on Athena’s behalf.

Vladimir narrowed his eyes on Dominique. "Oh really? Have you informed your wife about this? You should be at home, spending time with your wife, Mr. Smith. Please mind your manners."

Dominique couldn’t refute Vladimir’s words at all.

Luna could only stay quiet. She could already feel the frightening aura emanating from her Big Boss. If looks could kill, Dominique would have been dead by now.

Just like Luna, Athena also noticed the growing tension between Dominique and Vladimir. She was aware that she was the reason for this.

’Damn. What should I do? I need to lighten the mood.’

"Ahem. Since we are all here, why don’t we eat together? After that, we can go home!" Without a second thought, Athena invited Vladimir to join them.

When he heard that, Vladimir smirked at Dominique. "Good idea. Sure. Let’s share a table."

’Eh, seriously, Boss?! We are going to eat again! We just finished eating a while ago.’ Luna glanced at Vladimir with disbelief but she didn’t dare complain out loud.

"Oh, Yes. I’m still hungry," Luna smiled sheepishly as she pretended.

Meanwhile, Dominique wasn’t happy with this turn of events. He wanted to spend time alone with Athena. But now, he could no longer do it because of Vladimir’s interference. He had no choice since Athena was the one who invited Vladimir and Luna. He couldn’t say no to Athena.

The four ended up sharing one table inside the restaurant. Dominique made sure that Athena would sit next to him.

The table was so awkwardly quiet. They only spoke when the waiter started to get their orders.

’Gosh. How can I explain this to V? I know he is not happy with this.’ Athena looked so troubled just thinking about Vladimir’s feelings.

Unknown to Athena, Dominique also noticed her troubled expression. ’Is she worried about Vladimir’s reaction after this? Are they in a serious relationship already?’
