Chapter 254: Terrified

After leaving the hospital, Dominique didn’t return to the Smith Mansion. He preferred to stay in the Golden Villa. Fortunately, Sasha was at the company and having a meeting with her marketing team.

"I wonder what she is doing right now," Dominique mumbled as he stared at his phone. He was thinking about Athena right now.

"I want to see her."

Unable to resist the urge to meet Athena, Dominique dialed her number. Athena had just finished talking to Enzo when her phone rang.

"Hello?" Athena’s voice was heard from the other line.

Dominique couldn’t help but smile upon hearing her voice. He missed her so much and wanted to be with her every day!

"Are you free? Can you come over here in the Golden Villa?" Dominique asked her pleadingly. The longing was evident in his tone.

Athena fell silent for a moment. She took a quick glance at Enzo who was sitting next to her. She was glad that she finally revealed her identity to her brother.

"I’m having a meeting for my upcoming concert. I’ll go over there once I’m done here." Athena lied to Dominique.

"Okay. I’ll be waiting for you. You can have your lunch here."

"Sure. See you later." Athena ended the call.

Dominique smiled broadly, looking forward to seeing Athena today. He put down his phone and called out for Levi. Since Dominique was still injured, he couldn’t move comfortably without support. His right-hand man accompanied him to the Golden Villa.

"Levi!"

"Yes, Sir?" Levi ran into the living room as soon as he heard Dominique’s voice. "Is there something you need? Do you want to go to your room and take a rest?"

Dominique shook his head. "I’m fine. I want to stay here. By the way, Athena will come over. Can you buy lunch for us later?"

"Okay, sir. Just tell me her food preferences. I will buy them."

Dominique enumerated all the food he wanted Levi to buy for Athena. Those were her favorite dishes.

Meanwhile, Levi watched his Boss with amusement. He could see the joy and excitement in Dominique’s eyes.

"Sir, Miss Athena is your ex-wife. She even underwent plastic surgery to change her appearance. Aren’t you worried that she returned only to get her revenge against you?" Levi wasn’t able to hold his curiosity so he raised this question to Dominique. He was worried for his Boss.

Dominique smiled faintly as he answered him. "I know. But I am grateful that she is alive and she returned here. At least, I can still be with her."

"But she is going to hurt you. Can’t you just stay away from her?" Levi just wanted to protect Dominique.

Dominique’s expression turned grim when he heard that. "The last time I did that... I regretted it a lot. I don’t want to make the same mistake. I’m afraid, this time... I can’t stay away from her. I want to grab every opportunity just to be with her. I don’t care if she is going to hurt me."

Levi was saddened by this. "Sir, I’m sorry for saying this. But... why don’t you tell her the truth? Tell her the reason why you betrayed her. If you really want to start over with her then you have to come clean. Tell her what her father did to you and your family."

Dominique clenched his fists as he glared at Levi. Levi immediately Shut his mouth.

"She loves her father so much. Do you think she will be able to handle the truth? I don’t want to give her emotional pain. I hurt her feelings in the past. I don’t want to repeat it. In the first place, it’s my fault. She is innocent but I used her to get even at her father."

"There is no way I can start over with her. She will hate me forever."

Levi was a little bit confused. "If that is your point of view, Sir, then why are you still allowing her to be with you? You are just torturing yourself since you know that both of you won’t be able to start over."

Dominique smiled bitterly. "Because this is the only way to redeem myself. If I allow her to hurt me then I will be able to forgive myself for everything I’ve done to her in the past. And this is also part of my selfish desire. I just want to spend more time with her before she starts distancing herself from me."

"I know for sure... that once she is done with her revenge, she won’t see me again. She doesn’t want to be involved with me ever again. Before that moment happens, I want to be with her, love her, and do the things I always wanted to do with her."

"I think... I’m gone crazy." Dominique chuckled but sadness could be seen in his eyes.

"Yes, Sir. you are madly crazy in love with your ex-wife." Levi shook his head helplessly.

Dominique patted his shoulders and said, "Not my ex-wife. She is still my wife. I didn’t submit our divorce paper to the civil registrar. Since she is alive, my marriage with Sasha will be void."

Levi was surprised at that realization. It only meant that Athena was still legally married to Dominique.

"I still have another reason why I can’t stop her from approaching me. She and I have a son. And this is the only way I can get closer to him."

Levi just nodded in understanding.

"But Sir I have to warn you. Your wife is connected to the Ivankov Family. They are not an ordinary family. She has a strong backup now. You have to be careful when dealing with the Ivankov Family."

Dominique’s expression turned ashen as he recalled Vladimir Ivankov. He could tell that Vladimir had feelings for Athena. And he was jealous every time he would think that Athena and Vladimir were together.

"I’m not afraid of them. They can’t stop me from getting closer to my wife and my son." Dominique mumbled with conviction.

"Then, what are you planning to do with Miss Sasha?" Levi asked him another curious question.

"I need to be honest with her. I have to make her understand that we can’t stay together anymore. She’s my friend, but I can’t force myself to love her the way she wants. It won’t be easy, and I know she won’t want a divorce. But I can’t keep pretending. I’ll find a way to handle this, even if it takes time. She deserves the truth, and I’ll have to figure out how to help her accept it."

"Okay, sir. Alice and I are just here if you need help. We are at your service." Levi reassured him.

"Thanks, Levi. Now, go. My wife will be arriving later."

"Yes, Sir! I’ll take my leave now."

When Levi left the Golden Villa, Dominique remained lost in his thoughts. He sat still, staring at the empty space in the living room. He kept thinking about his complicated situation with Athena.

"As much as I want to start over with her, I’m not certain if she still has feelings for me. I’m terrified that the love she once had is gone, replaced by nothing but resentment. What if all that’s left between us is her hatred?" His heart tightened as he thought about the uncertain future that lay ahead for both of them.
