Chapter 207: Visiting His Son

[At Miguel Ivankov’s Villa... ]

Miguel sat in his study room, savoring his afternoon tea. However, he was abruptly interrupted by the sudden arrival of one of his subordinates, who approached with a sense of urgency.

"Master, pardon the interruption," the subordinate said, bowing slightly. "There is a visitor at the gate asking for Young Master Aaron."

Miguel’s eyes narrowed slightly, curiosity piqued. He placed his teacup down on the polished oak table and leaned back in his chair. "Who is it?" he asked, his tone measured and calm.

He wondered who was this unexpected visitor. No one knew about the location of his secret villa aside from Dmitri.

’Is it Lanny or Vladimir? Did Dmitri accidentally inform them that I am here?’ Miguel assumed that his visitor might be one of his children.

The subordinate shifted uncomfortably. "It’s a guy whose name is Dominique Smith."

Miguel smiled inwardly, his eyes sparkling with delight when he heard that name. He stood up, straightening his impeccably tailored suit. "Very well. Tell the guards to let him in. I’ll see him downstairs."

The subordinate bowed again and swiftly exited the room, following his order.

A few moments later, the subordinate returned, ushering Dominique into the living room. Miguel observed her carefully as he entered. Dominique looked determined, yet there was an air of desperation about him.

"Mr. Smith, we’ve met again," Miguel greeted him, his voice polite but firm. "I understand you have some urgent business with my grandson. Please, have a seat and explain."

Dominique nodded, his eyes darting around the elegant room before settling on Miguel. He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. "Thank you for seeing me on such short notice, Mr. Ivankov. I’m here to see your grandson because I made a promise to him. I will teach him how to play a guitar."

Miguel’s eyes lit up with amusement when he saw the guitar case Dominique was carrying.

"So in short, you just want to bond with my grandson today. Aren’t you busy, Mr. Smith? Don’t you have work in your company today?" Miguel raised an eyebrow, curious.

"I can’t break my promise to your grandson. I assigned someone to deal with the company matters on my behalf today." Dominique responded.

Dominique chose his words carefully as he conversed with Miguel, aware that the old man believed Aaron was his grandson. He didn’t want to complicate things for Aaron by revealing the truth that he was Aaron’s biological father. For now, all he wanted was to see his son and spend time with him.

Meanwhile, Miguel’s eyes narrowed slightly, sensing there was more to the story. He didn’t buy his explanation that he came there just because of his promise. "Teach him the guitar, you say?" He gestured towards the case. "Is that the guitar you brought for him?"

Dominique nodded. "Yes, sir, it is. Aaron’s shown a lot of interest in music lately, and I thought it would be a good way to bond with him."

Miguel studied Dominique for a long moment, weighing the sincerity in his words.

"Mr. Smith. I hope my grandson is not a hassle to you. How can you neglect your company just because of this guitar lesson? I am capable of hiring someone to teach him."

It seemed like Miguel was testing and assessing Dominique.

Dominique shook his head, putting on a gentle smile. "Not at all, Mr. Ivankov. He will never be a hassle to me. I want to do this. I hope you will allow me to teach him by myself."

Miguel’s expression softened a bit. "That’s very thoughtful of you, Dominique. But is that the only reason you’re here?"

Dominique frowned. He didn’t know why but Miguel’s way of questioning was a bit off. ’Does he know that I’m hiding something from him?’ He pondered to himself.

Dominique hesitated, knowing he needed to tread carefully. He looked Miguel directly in the eyes, his voice lowering. "I have to be honest with you, Mr. Ivankov. Teaching Aaron the guitar is part of the reason, but there’s more to it."

Miguel leaned forward, intrigued. "Go on."

Dominique took a deep breath, choosing his words carefully. "I’ve come to see Aaron because I felt an instant connection with him the moment I laid eyes on him. I see so much of myself in him, and I’ve started treating him like my own child. I can only imagine how wonderful it would feel to be a father. Perhaps, I’m yearning for a son like Aaron."

Miguel nodded, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "Very well. Let’s see how Aaron takes to his new guitar lessons. I will ask my butler to inform Aaron of your arrival."

Dominique sighed in relief, gratitude evident in his eyes. "Thank you, Mr. Ivankov."

"But before that, I would like to ask you a very personal question, Mr. Smith. I hope you don’t mind." Miguel’s expression remained neutral, but his interest was undeniably piqued.

"Of course, you can ask me anything, Sir. I don’t mind it at all." Dominique promptly responded.

Miguel rubbed his chin, a lopsided grin spreading across his face. "Correct me if I’m wrong... I heard you are already married. Can you confirm?"

Dominique was caught off guard by this sudden question.

"Yes. I am," he replied, wondering why Miguel brought up his marriage.

"How long have you been married to her?"

"Four years..." Dominique felt a little bit uncomfortable talking about his marriage.

"Don’t you have a child with your current wife?" he asked again.

"No, Sir." Dominique felt like he was being interrogated by Miguel.

"Why? Is your wife infertile?" Miguel continued to press more personal questions.

Dominique was at a loss for words. He didn’t know what he should reply to that.

"Just be honest, Mr. Smith. I hate people who lie to me." Miguel demanded in his authoritative voice.

Dominique took a deep sigh. "No. My wife is not infertile. I am the one who has shortcomings in our marriage." He admitted.

Miguel gazed at him intently, urging him to continue.

For some unknown reason, Dominique couldn’t lie to this old man. "I have this unique condition..." he hesitated before he continued, "Erectile dysfunction."

Miguel was momentarily shocked, then his laughter echoed through the living room.

Dominique looked at him helplessly. ’Does he think I’m joking?’

"Oh, I’m sorry, Mr. Smith. I don’t believe there’s anything wrong with you. You’re a healthy young man. Maybe... you simply don’t love your current wife that’s why yours is not functioning well in bed."

Dominique: "..."
