Chapter 206: Baby Instinct

Chapter 206: Baby Instinct

Enzo shifted his gaze back and forth between Lanny and Dmitri. Then his eyes landed on Kimmy.

"He is your missing Dad?" Enzo asked Kimmy.

He didn’t know why but his heart suddenly constricted upon hearing Dmitri’s declaration. No wonder Lanny and Dmitri were going to marry each other. They already had a daughter... a very cute charming daughter, Kimmy!

Enzo forced a smile, wanting to congratulate the couple. But then, Kimmy freed herself from Dmitri’s arms. She approached Enzo, grabbing his hand.

"Uncle Dmitri is not my missing Dad," she explained. "He will be my father if my Mommy marries him."

After saying that, Kimmy looked up at her mother. "Mom, can I have two Daddies?"

"Kimmy! Stop saying nonsense okay? You are making everyone confused." Lanny sighed helplessly.

But Kimmy shook her head innocently. "Mommy. This is not nonsense. I’m just saying that I like to adopt Enzo as my Daddy."

’Eh? Why would you adopt him? He is your biological father.’ Lanny rubbed her temples.

"It depends on Enzo if he wants to be your adopted father," Lanny said with resignation. There was no point arguing with a little girl.

Kimmy squeezed Enzo’s hand, staring at him expectantly. She was waiting for his response.

Seeing Kimmy, Enzo didn’t have the heart to reject and refuse her. "It’s okay. I don’t mind at all. I can be your adopted Daddy if you want."

"Yesss!" Kimmy jumped with joy. "See, Nanny Shao-Shao! Daddy Enzo agreed! He can’t refuse by charm." Kimmy’s giggle bubbled up once again.

"Alright. Let’s just continue our snacks. Dmitri and Nanny Shao-Shao, please join us." Lanny invited them.

When Dmitri sat down next to Lanny, she leaned closer and whispered, "Let’s talk about my father."

Dmitri nodded with a smile. "Sure."

Lanny and Dmitri excused themselves for a moment, allowing Kimmy to bond with Enzo.

"Spill the beans. What is my father doing here?" Lanny interrogated Dmitri, folding her arms over her chest. Her gestures were a carbon copy of Kimmy.

"He said he’s visiting someone in this city and wanted to surprise you and Vladimir. I think it was the twins who dragged their grandfather here."

Lanny exhaled deeply. "Tell me more..." she demanded.

Dmitri paused for a moment, casting a look at Kimmy. Then he brought his attention back to Lanny. "He told me something."

Lanny looked at him with intrigue. "What did he tell you?"

"Miguel said he found the father of your twins," Dmitri revealed, making Lanny speechless.

’WHAT?! He found Enzo! My father discovered Enzo’s identity...’ Lanny was flabbergasted. She didn’t know what to say. For some unknown reason, she got afraid for Enzo’s safety.

’What if my father will do something bad to Enzo? He might punish him, thinking Enzo had abandoned her and the twins.’ Fear was reflected in her eyes. Her face turned pale once again.

"Lanny," Dmitri called out, holding her shoulders. "Is there something wrong? Why aren’t you happy that your father finally found the father of your twins?" Dmitri asked her curiously. "Don’t you want to see him again? Do you hate him?"

Lanny frowned, shaking her head. "No. I don’t hate him. It’s just that... I’m afraid for his safety. You know my father. He is ruthless. He might do something to him." Lanny didn’t hesitate to express her real concern.

Dmitri blinked in amusement. "I don’t think your father will do that. It seems to me that your father is so fond of him. He didn’t hate the twin’s father. In fact, he likes him."

Lanny couldn’t believe what she had just heard from Dmitri.

"What? Are you serious? Did he say that?" Lanny cast a puzzled look at Enzo, wondering why her father would suddenly like him.

Dmitri didn’t laugh. He looked so serious. "Yes. He did say that. That’s why I feel like there is a competition here. I found my greatest rival. I’m worried that your father might change his mind about our marriage." Dmitri was honest and frank.

"How could that be possible?" Lanny was shocked and confused. "Perhaps, my father just lied to you?!"

Dmitri chuckled when he heard her doubts. "No way. Don Miguel Ivankov will not joke about that."

Lanny’s jaw dropped, still trying to figure out what happened to her father. What made him like Enzo? This was so unlikely of him.

"Why don’t you ask him yourself?" Dmitri suggested. "You can also bring the twins to finally meet their missing father."

Dmitri could understand if Aaron and Kimmy wanted to meet their biological father. He wouldn’t prevent them from doing that. But again, he wouldn’t give up. He would still try to win Lanny’s heart and tame her.

"You are right. I’ll try to talk to him." Lanny sighed deeply.

Meanwhile, Enzo was stealing glances at Lanny and Dmitri from time to time. He could sense that the two were having a serious discussion based on their expressions.

’Sigh. What are they talking about?’ He pondered to himself.

Toink! Toink!

Kimmy pinched Enzo’s muscle to catch his attention. When he turned to look at her, Kimmy was already grinning from ear to ear.

"Do you have a crush on my Mommy? Are you jealous, Daddy?" Kimmy asked, teasing Enzo.

Enzo: "..."

Enzo hadn’t realized that while he was stealing glances at Lanny and Dmitri, Kimmy was observing his facial expression.

"No. I’m not," he lied, denying Kimmy’s accusation.

But Kimmy just let out a soft giggle. "Don’t be shy, Daddy. I know my mommy is a pretty woman. Lots of men are attracted to her."

Enzo smiled awkwardly, nodding. "Yes. I totally agree. You look exactly like her. Both of you are pretty." He complimented Kimmy so that she would stop teasing him.

Kimmy let out another soft giggle, clearly enjoying the situation.

"By the way, Kimmy. I am dying to ask you this. Why do you want to adopt me as your Daddy? You already have your Uncle Dmitri. He is going to be your father once he marries your mother. Why me?" Enzo asked Kimmy expectantly.

Kimmy flashed her charming smile before responding. "I just know it. I felt a strong connection with you the first time I saw you. Didn’t you feel anything, Daddy? Some call it maternal and paternal instincts. But mine is my baby instinct." She winked at him and giggled.

Enzo could only smile. Kimmy had a way of brightening his day.

"Oh, and there’s more. I like you a lot, Enzo. I can’t explain why. I just feel it here." Kimmy pointed to her heart, her eyes sparkling with sincerity.

For some unknown reason, Enzo’s heart was filled with warmth because of Kimmy’s words. The young girl was very sincere and innocent.

"Kimmy, do you want to hang out with me this weekend? I can tour you around the city." Enzo invited her. He wanted to spend time with this cheerful little girl.

Kimmy’s eyes lit up as soon as she heard that. "I would love that. Can we bring my Mommy with us?"

"Sure. Why not." Enzo gently stroked her hair. "How about your Uncle Dmitri? Will you bring him with you as well?"

"Nope. It will be awkward. Let’s hang out. Just the three of us!" Kimmy uttered enthusiastically.
