Chapter 202: The Truth Has Come Out

When Sasha left, Dominique could finally relax. He leaned back in his chair, massaging his temples.

"I can’t continue this any longer," he muttered to himself. "I can’t deceive Sasha and myself. There’s no point in prolonging this marriage of convenience. I can’t give her happiness. I don’t love her."

Dominique regretted the deal he had made with Sasha. He had no control over his heart, and despite everything, he had fallen in love with Sabrina for real. That love would remain.

Athena’s beautiful face flashed in his mind. ’Damn. I miss her already... and Aaron, too.’

Dominique wished for the days to pass quickly until the weekend, eagerly anticipating the moments he would spend with Aaron and Athena.

The thought of seeing Athena and Aaron brought a small, genuine smile to his face. He just had to hold on a little longer, and then he could figure out how to make things right.

’I have to find a way to end things with Sasha.’

Dominique was still lost in his thoughts when his mobile phone rang. He immediately picked it up only to see Alice’s caller ID.

Dominique eagerly pressed the answer button, hoping Alice had good news for him.

"Alice, has the result come out?" he asked before she could say a word.

"Yes, Sir. That’s why I call you today. The DNA result is out. Should I send it to you now?" Alice was now holding the DNA result. This would determine whether Aaron was his biological son or not.

"No need. I’ll go there myself!" Dominique hastily grabbed his coat and car keys. He didn’t waste his time as he dashed out of his office.

At the hospital.

Dominique’s heartbeat was so loud in his ears as he passed through the hospital corridors going to the rooftop where Alice had been waiting for him.

Slam.

At that moment, the echoing sound of the steel door opening reverberated across the rooftop. Dominique rushed toward Alice’s spot, his breath coming in heavy pants. Beads of sweat glistened on his forehead, a clear sign of his hurried ascent to the rooftop.

"Give me the result!" Dominique demanded in between his pants. He extended his right hand in front of Alice.

Alice couldn’t understand why the DNA result held so much importance for Dominique. She had known him for years, yet this was the first time she had seen him so visibly affected by something like this as if his life depended on the result. With a deep sigh, she placed the envelope on his palm.

Dominique’s hands trembled slightly as he held the envelope, his mind racing with a mixture of hope and fear. He stared at the white envelope with conflicting thoughts. His heart pounded with anticipation, hoping for a result that could change everything.

’Please. I hope Aaron is my son. If our DNAs match, then Sabrina is alive... and our child... And Athena might be Sabrina.’

With a serious expression on his face, Dominique quickly tore open the envelope to see the result.

His eyes scanned the contents quickly, searching for the crucial information that could either confirm or shatter his hopes. Alice watched his expression closely.

Seconds felt like an eternity as Dominique processed the result. The silence on the rooftop was evident, broken only by the sound of his uneven breaths. Finally, he exhaled slowly, his features softening with relief and a hint of disbelief.

The words on the paper confirmed what he had hoped for—Aaron was indeed his son. A rush of emotions flooded through Dominique—relief, joy, and a profound sense of connection.

Overwhelmed by profound joy, Dominique collapsed to the floor, kneeling while clutching the paper tightly. He smiled! He chuckled! He cried!

Alice was dumbfounded witnessing this unfolding scene in front of her. ’My Boss... he is laughing but at the same time, shedding tears. But all I can see is genuine happiness in his eyes.’

Alice’s heart skipped a beat as she witnessed a different side of her boss. Normally cold and indifferent, Dominique’s eyes, which usually seemed empty, now held a warmth and emotion she had never seen before. Today, he appeared entirely transformed from the person she thought she knew.

With a mixture of gratitude and resolve, Dominique turned to Alice, his eyes glistening with tears. "Thank you, Alice. You have no idea what this means to me," he managed to say, his voice thick with emotion.

Alice could only respond with a warm smile. She was glad that she made her boss happy today.

Soon, Dominique rose from his feet, folding the paper carefully and placing it back into the envelope. He held it close to his heart.

"I have to go, Alice. I owe you this one."

"Okay, Sir. Take care of yourself." Alice nodded.

As Dominique descended from the rooftop, his thoughts raced ahead to the future—filled with possibilities of reunions, reconciliation, and the long-awaited answers to the questions that had haunted him for so long.

"Aaron... I will do my best to make it up to you. I will be a good father." Dominique mumbled to himself. Then he clenched his fist tightly. "Athena... I know you are Sabrina. I will make things right this time. I will do everything to get your forgiveness. If possible... I want to have a fresh start... with you and our son, Aaron."

Dominique felt so grateful. He thought he would never get another chance to see Sabrina alive and their child. Fate had granted him an unexpected chance for redemption, filling him with a new hope.

"I want to see Sabrina... and Aaron."

Without delay, he sent messages to both of them, eager to know what they were up to and hoping for a chance to see them soon.

After a few minutes...

"Ah! Forget it! I’ll just go to either of them now." Dominique couldn’t wait to see them.

Dominique headed to Athena’s first place as he waited for Aaron’s reply. As he was driving his car, a realization came upon him.

"I’m certain that Sabrina hated me so much. So I guess Athena has returned for her revenge. Should I continue pretending I don’t know her true identity? If she discovers that I’m already aware of her secret, she might distance herself from me."
