Chapter 191: Hidden Connections

For some unknown reason, Dmitri felt threatened by Miguel’s words. There might be a possibility that he would change his mind about the marriage between Lanny and him.

After gathering his thoughts, Dmitri put on a faint smile.

"Mr. Ivankov, with all due respect sir, I’m not in a position to stop you from choosing what you truly want. I’m not against the idea of letting your grandchildren meet their biological father. It is their right to get to know him." Dmitri expressed his sincerest thoughts about this matter.

"And as for deciding whether Lanny should be with him or with me, why not ask Lanny herself? She is capable of making her own choice about whom she wants to be with."

Miguel was taken aback for a moment after hearing Dmitri’s last remarks. After he recovered, his crisp chuckle bubbled up in his entire study room.

Dmitri looked at him, puzzled. ’Did I say something funny? Have I offended him?’

"Dmitri, do you truly believe you stand a chance if I leave the decision to my daughter? If I let her choose the man she wants to marry, are you confident she will pick you?" Miguel’s gaze was piercing, his question loaded with both challenge and curiosity.

Dmitri smiled at him and replied, "It’s not about confidence. It’s about perseverance. Yes, I’m not certain if I stand a chance against the father of her children but... I am serious about her. Especially now. I got to know her more."

Miguel let out another chuckle. He liked Dmitri’s optimism. But he also held admiration for the father of Lanny’s children. This was one of the reasons why he was torn between choosing Dmitri or that guy.

"May I know who he is?" Dmitri asked Miguel expectantly.

But Dmitri shook his head. "I can’t tell you for now. It seems like he isn’t aware that he and Lanny have children."

"Don’t worry. When the right time comes, I will introduce him to you," Miguel added, making a promise to Dmitri.

Dmitri nodded. "One last question. Is he here... in York City?"

Miguel’s eyes sparkled in delight as he nodded his head. "Yes. He is here."

[ At Starlight Group Building...]

Dominique received a message from Sasha.

Sasha’s Message: [ Babe, please go home early. I prepared a dinner for us. I also invited Ashton and Athena. ]

At first, Dominique didn’t have any plans to go home early. However, the moment he read Athena’s name, he immediately changed his mind.

Dominique’s Message: [ Alright. I’ll go home early. ]

He decided to turn off his desktop and gather his stuff. He was about to leave his office when he recalled something.

’I almost forgot. There is something I need to verify. I have to seek Alice’s help.’

Dominique picked up something inside his vault. It was a ziplock containing hair strands. He put it inside his suit pocket and he contacted Alice.

Dominique’s Message: [ Alice, where are you working right now? I’m going to drop by the hospital first to see you. ]

Alice’s Message: [ Okay, Boss. I’ll wait for you on the rooftop. It’s York City Medical Center. ]

After receiving Alice’s response, Dominique hurriedly left the building. He headed to York City Medical Center, clueless that he was being monitored by Vladimir’s subordinate, Luna.

It only took him twenty minutes to reach his destination. On the rooftop, Alice waited anxiously, her eyes darting around until she spotted Dominique approaching.

"Boss, is there something you need from me?" Alice asked eagerly, her voice tinged with a mix of excitement and nervousness.

"Yes," Dominique responded curtly, his expression unreadable. Reaching into the inner pocket of his suit, he pulled out two small ziplocks, each holding a DNA sample- hair strands.

"I want you to conduct a paternity test for these two samples," he said, handing them over to Alice. The gravity of his request hung in the air, making her heart race.

"Boss, whose samples are these?" Alice asked, her curiosity getting the better of her.

Dominique’s expression remained stoic. "Don’t ask questions. You don’t need to know. Just do it," he said sternly, his tone leaving no room for further inquiry.

Alice bit her lip, a thousand questions swirling in her mind, but she nodded obediently. She knew better than to press for answers when Dominique was in this mood. Taking the samples, she quickly pocketed them.

Dominique turned to leave, but paused for a moment, his back still facing her. "I need the results as soon as possible," he added, his voice softer but still carrying an edge of urgency.

"I understand, Boss. I’ll handle it personally," Alice assured him, her mind now fully focused on the task at hand.

As Dominique walked away, she couldn’t shake the feeling that these samples held significance to Dominique. It had something to do with him.

Dominique didn’t waste any more time. He was excited to see Athena so he decided to go home straight.

Meanwhile, Luna, who witnessed the interaction between Dominique and Alice was still shocked. Though she didn’t hear their conversation, one thing was certain– Alice and Dominique Smith knew each other.

"Oh Damn! What is the meaning of this? I can’t be wrong. That person is Alice. The one we met in Fortuna Grande... She is Enzo’s girlfriend." Luna was shocked beyond belief.

Luna had met Alice before. She stayed with Athena and spent time with Enzo and Alice.

"I need to report this to Boss V as soon as possible!" Luna knew the importance of this discovery.

Fortunately, she managed to capture their photos while they were talking on the rooftop.

Instead of following Dominique, Luna went to V Club to report this new update to Vladimir.

Moments later, at V Club.

Vladimir sat at the bar counter, nursing a drink when Luna approached him with urgency in her steps.

"Boss!" she called out.

Vladimir turned around, his eyes narrowing in recognition of her voice. "What are you doing here? I thought you were monitoring Dominique," he said, a look of displeasure crossing his face.

Luna bowed her head slightly, apologetic. "I’m sorry, Boss. I needed to see you and personally deliver this update."

She handed her phone over to Vladimir, her expression tense. "Boss, I saw Dominique talking to Alice. I think the two are connected with each other!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with a mix of excitement and concern.

Vladimir’s eyes widened in shock, his grip tightening around the phone. "WHAT? What did you just say, Luna?" he demanded, his voice rising.

A female voice interrupted from behind them, causing both Vladimir and Luna to jump in surprise. "What did she just say?" the voice repeated.

Vladimir and Luna turned around to see Lanny standing behind them, her eyes sharp and filled with curiosity. She had just arrived and overheard Luna’s last remarks.

"Lanny," Vladimir uttered, trying to gauge her reaction.

Lanny raised an eyebrow, snatching the phone from her brother’s hand.

She was dumbfounded for a moment when she saw the picture. It looked like Luna just found out Dominique and Alice might be working together.

Vladimir exchanged a quick glance with Luna before focusing on Lanny. "We need to talk. In private," he said, gesturing towards a secluded corner of the club.

Lanny’s expression turned serious. "Yes. We should! Both of you have some explaining things to do."
