His Mistress is His Ex-Wife -
Chapter 190: Undecided
Chapter 190: Undecided
[ At V Club... ]
The two men were sitting at the bar counter, enjoying their liquor.
"So what is your impression of my sister?" Vladimir asked Dmitri.
Dmitri let out a soft chuckle after hearing Vladimir’s direct question.
"Why? Are you worried that I will dislike your sister? Are you rooting for me?" Dmitri cracked some jokes to lighten the atmosphere. Vladimir’s mood had always been serious.
Vladimir shot him a cold sharp glare. "No. I’m not worried. Why would I be?"
Dmitri smirked at him, taking a sip of his whiskey. "Because I heard that you didn’t want to marry my sister Freya. I guess, you are hoping that things between Lanny and me will work out. Am I right?"
Vladimir wasn’t able to respond. He couldn’t deny it. Dmitri’s words were true. He was hoping that Lanny and Dmitri would marry each other to solidify the alliance between the Ivankov Clan and the De Luca Clan. Besides, the father of Lanny’s child was already in a relationship with someone.
"Your silence means yes," Dmitri chuckled once more, tapping Vladimir’s shoulder.
"You are wise and clever, Dmitri. You can easily read people." Vladimir just raised his glass for a toast. "As expected of the De Luca’s successor."
"Hmm. Aren’t you afraid that Lanny will become more influential once she marries me? Even though she is just a woman, she can become your father’s successor. Is that what you want Vladimir?" Dmitri was still trying to assess Vladimir’s real feelings about this.
Vladimir frowned for a moment. "You don’t have to worry about that. Even we, the Ivankov siblings, are clueless about how our father will choose his successor. He is unpredictable."
Dmitri nodded in agreement. Even he himself couldn’t figure out what Miguel Ivankov was thinking. He was always mysterious in his eyes.
"Have you ever wondered if your father is training someone to be his successor, behind your back? Who knows he has another child aside from you and Lanny." Dmitri wanted to check if Vladimir was truly unaware of the existence of Miguel’s adopted son.
The crease on Vladimir’s forehead deepened further. "What are you implying? Do you think our father is hiding another child from us?"
Dmitri smiled inwardly. ’Hmm. It looks like the Ivankov Siblings are truly clueless about Miguel’s adopted son. I have to change the topic before Vladimir starts suspecting something.’
"Haha. I’m just kidding, Bro. Anyway. I’m going to answer your question now. For me, your sister is really unique from the other women I’ve met. I like her honesty and her fierce attitude. If she becomes my wife, she can assist me in leading our organization. So even if she can’t become the successor of the Ivankov Clan, she still has a place in the De Luca Clan."
"Your father might regret giving his daughter to me. She is a nice catch, by the way." Dmitri winked at Vladimir teasingly.
"Hmm. I can’t believe that my sister managed to catch your interest. You even think so highly of her. Did she blackmail you for you to speak like that?" Vladimir asked Dmitri in amusement.
Dmitri’s chuckle bubbled up once again.
"Honestly, I can feel that your sister has built up a strong wall that is so hard to break. I feel the need to break that wall and tame her. Besides, I want to make this marriage for convenience work well." Dmitri expressed his willingness to pursue this marriage.
"Hmm. Good luck. I hope you can tame the tigress." Vladimir raised his glass once more for another toast.
The two clinked their glasses before downing their whiskey in one gulp.
"By the way, how long are you going to stay here in York City?" Vladimir asked him curiously.
"Hmm, until I get to tame your sister and win her heart," Dmitri promptly responded. There was a determined look in his eyes when he said those words.
Vladimir: "..."
He didn’t expect that Dmitri would like Lanny because he found his sister annoying most of the time. He was truly surprised knowing that Dmitri was putting more effort into this relationship.
"I wish you more luck. You badly need it," Vladimir said, patting Dmitri’s shoulder once again.
"Haha. yeah. By the way, I have to go now. I have to drop somewhere. Let’s have a drink again next time!"
After leaving V Club, Dmitri headed to Miguel’s Private Villa. He got a summon from him.

[ At Miguel’s Private Villa... ]
Dmitri headed to Miguel’s study upon arriving at the villa.
Vladimir and Lanny were still clueless that Aaron and Kimmy were currently in York City, along with their grandfather, Miguel Ivankov.
"Please sit down, Dmitri," Miguel said with his imposing aura.
Dmitri bowed his head, greeting him politely before he settled down on the couch opposite Miguel. The old man was drinking his favorite tea.
Respecting Miguel’s seniority, Dmitri waited for him to speak his mind first.
"You’ve been here for almost a week. Now, I want to know what you think about my daughter. Do you still want to marry her?" Miguel asked, cutting straight to the point. His eyes bore into Dmitri’s, unwavering and serious.
Dmitri raised his head, meeting Miguel’s gaze with equal intensity. He gave a confident nod. "Yes. I want to marry your daughter. She will be a great Matriarch of the De Luca Family."
Miguel fell silent, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. Dmitri watched him closely, trying to decipher the older man’s thoughts, but Miguel’s expression remained inscrutable.
After a few moments, Miguel spoke again, his tone measured. "You might be wondering why I asked you this question."
Dmitri leaned forward slightly, intrigued. "Yes, I am. Are you worried that I will back away from this marriage?"
Miguel took a slow sip of his tea before responding. "It’s not about worry, Dmitri. It’s about understanding your intentions and commitment. Marrying my daughter is not just about uniting two people..." he made a dramatic pause and continued, "It’s about uniting two families, with all the responsibilities and challenges that come with it."
Dmitri nodded, appreciating Miguel’s forthrightness. "I understand. And I assure you, my intentions are genuine. I see the strength and grace in your daughter, and I am ready to support her in every way possible. Together, we can lead the De Luca Family with honor and integrity."
Miguel studied Dmitri’s face, searching for any hint of doubt or insincerity. Finding none, he finally allowed a small smile to play at the corners of his lips. "Good. That’s what I wanted to hear.
Dmitri finally heaved a sigh of relief, relaxing a little bit. But then again, Miguel spoke another word that made him speechless.
"The truth is... I think I found the father of my grandchildren."
Dmitri: "..."
"I’m struggling to decide whether I should let Lanny be with the father of her children or with you. My grandchildren still want to meet their biological father. What is your opinion on that?" Miguel asked, giving Dmitri a meaningful look.
Dmitri clenched his fists, sensing the weight of Miguel’s words. It was clear that Miguel was still reconsidering the marriage between Dmitri and Lanny.
’Does this mean he prefers the father of his grandchildren?’ Dmitri wondered, his mind racing. ’Is he a man with an outstanding background as well?’
