Chapter 182: A Familiar Figure
Athena didn’t hesitate to show her displeasure because of Dominique’s sudden visit.
"You are not supposed to be here! Just leave." Athena tried to send him away.
Meanwhile, Dominique frowned, his face turning grim. He didn’t like the way Athena was treating him coldly.
She was making him feel unwelcome because of her reaction.
Little did she know, Dominique sneaked out of the Smith Mansion so that he could see her tonight.
When she finished her live stream earlier, Dominique didn’t waste his time. He drove all the way to her place at a high speed.
"I came here because I miss you. I want to see you," Dominique explained, hurt by her unwelcome tone.
"I told you not to come here. We can always meet at your other villa. You can just summon me. You don’t have to appear in front of my doorsteps just like this." Athena continued to reprimand him.
She cast a nervous look at her place, checking if Vladimir was there. He might get out of the house if he suddenly felt impatient.
’I need to send this guy away as soon as possible.’ Athena thought to herself.
On the other hand, Dominique noticed the worry written on her face so he followed his line of sight. He frowned and eyed Athena suspiciously.
"Is there someone inside your house right now? Are you afraid that person might see me here?" Dominique confronted her. There was a hint of jealousy in his tone.
"No.... I mean... Y-Yes," Athena’s voice trembled slightly.
"It’s Lanny," she lied. "She is inside. We can’t let her see you here. So please, Dom. You have to leave first." She started to tone down and begged him to leave. If she continued to scold him, Dominique would be more stubborn.
"Did you cry?" Dominique asked her, changing the topic.
He raised his hand to touch her face but Athena stepped back, avoiding his touch.
"No. I didn’t," She said sternly.
Dominique pursed his lips, noticing Athena’s cold attitude toward him. She was truly not in the mood to entertain him tonight.
Dominique felt disappointed and hurt.
"Alright. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t be–" Dominique didn’t finish his words since Athena immediately dragged him.
Athena saw Vladimir’s silhouettes in the living room. She could tell that he was going out. So even before he could see them, Athena grabbed Dominique’s hand, dragging him with her.
"Okay. We will talk. But not in front of my house." With hurried footsteps, Athena looked for a hiding spot where Vladimir wouldn’t be able to see them.
Her heart was pounding against her chest when she heard the opening sound of the door of her house. Vladimir went out! Fortunately, Athena acted quickly, pulling Dominique with her.
Dominique’s unhappiness suddenly disappeared since Athena chose to stay longer with him, instead of sending him away. They continued walking with their entangled hands until they reached the nearby park. It wasn’t crowded tonight.
Athena chose the most secluded part of the park before they both settled down on the bench.
"Don’t do this again next time." Athena started lecturing him again.
Dominique just bobbed his head in obedience. "Okay. I will not do it again."
"Go back to your wife now. You didn’t come home last night." Athena was eager to send him home.
But Dominique’s face contorted. "I thought we were going to talk here, that’s why you brought me here."
’Of course not. I am just trying to hide you from Vladimir,’ Athena murmured to herself.
"I’m tired. We can talk over the phone." Athena stood up, wanting to go back.
But Dominique also rose from his seat.
"What? Are you going to follow me again?" Athena scowled at him.
"Of course. I left my car in front of your place. How can I go home? I have to go back to your place." He insisted.
Athena sighed helplessly, facepalming. ’Why do I feel like a wife cheating on my husband?’ She thought to herself as she was reminded of Vladimir waiting for her in her house.
"Just ride a taxi. You can get your car tomorrow," She suggested.
"Okay. I will leave. But in one condition. You will eat breakfast with me tomorrow."
Athena had no choice but to agree. "Sure. We can do that tomorrow."
Dominique’s face brightened up when he
heard that. "See you tomorrow."
Athena and Dominique decided to find a taxi cab. While they were waiting for a cab to pass by, Athena caught a glimpse of a familiar figure just a few meters away from them.
She narrowed her eyes when the figure suddenly disappeared in the dark when that person noticed her.
’Wait. Is that Luna? What is she doing here at this hour?’ Athena pondered, her eyes still fixed in the direction where Luna had disappeared.
Athena was still trying to process whether she had seen Luna or it was just her imagination.
’Does Vladimir assign Luna to follow and monitor my movement? No way. Vladimir will never do that without my consent.’ She disregarded that idea.
"Athena? Something wrong?" Dominique tapped her shoulder to catch her attention.
"Oh. It’s nothing." Athena shrugged her shoulders. She put her trust in Vladimir.
’I might be overthinking. Vladimir promised me that he wouldn’t interfere with my plans.’ Athena convinced herself, brushing off the thought of Vladimir mobilizing Luna in his command.
"I should accompany you back to keep you safe." Dominique was reluctant to leave her.
"I’ll be fine. This area is safe. Just go."
"No. I will only leave if I make sure that you go home safe." Dominique insisted.
"I said I’m fine. I already texted Lanny to fetch me here," she lied. "You have to go before she arrives."
Dominique could only heave a sigh of defeat. "Okay."
It did not take long before Dominique finally left, riding a taxi cab.
Meanwhile, in the dark part of the park stood Luna, hiding in a tree. Her eyes were observing Athena from a distance. Luna had been following and monitoring Dominique’s movement as per Vladimir’s command. She was just waiting for the right time and right place to strike.
"Why is Miss Athena with Dominique?" Luna was confused. "She almost caught me. I should be more careful. Sigh. I can’t tell Boss. He might scold me if he learns about this."
Luna just waited for Athena to leave the park before she came out of her hiding spot.
