Chapter 152: Friend X Fiancée

Enzo darted his gaze back and forth between Lanny and Dmitri. He came to visit Lanny tonight because he wanted someone to talk to about his father, Albert Williams. Lanny was the first person that flashed into his mind. With that, he found a reason to drop by her place and see her.

For the past few days, he had been troubled by Dominique’s revelation. He kept thinking whether it was true or not. But he was afraid to confirm it. He didn’t have a recollection of what kind of a person his father was.

"Enzo? What are you doing here?" Even Lanny was surprised to see him.

Meanwhile, Dmitri sized Enzo up, from head to toe. He wondered who was this handsome guy standing in front of Lanny’s condo unit.

Enzo smiled awkwardly. "I want to talk to you about something. But I guess... I came at the wrong time."

He shifted his gaze from Lanny to Dmitri. Deep inside, he was curious who was the guy standing next to Lanny. He was tall, dark, and handsome.

’Is he one of her flings?’ Enzo clenched his fists at that thought. ’Is she going to sleep with this guy tonight?’ Enzo noticed Dmitri’s backpack.

Lanny could tell that Enzo was troubled by something. However, she also had another guest tonight. And she didn’t know how she would entertain the two. Yet, part of her didn’t want Enzo to leave without sharing his concern.

Lanny glanced at both Enzo and Dmitri. She was torn between the two men. ’Will it be okay if I invite Enzo inside? I don’t think Dmitri will care about it, right?’ There was a hint of uncertainty in her eyes.

"Ahem," Dmitri cleared his throat, eyeing Lanny meaningfully. It seemed like he was urging Lanny to introduce Enzo to him.

Understanding his gaze, Lanny spoke again. "Dmitri, this is Enzo, my friend."

She paused for a moment before introducing Dmitri. "Enzo, this is Dmitri..."

Her words hung in the air as she didn’t know what to say next. ’What should I say? I don’t know what is my connection with Dmitri.’

Dmitri lifted his eyebrow with intrigue since Lanny stopped mid-sentence. He could tell that Lanny was thinking carefully about what she should tell Enzo next.

"He is my father’s friend," Lanny added.

But Dmitri wasn’t satisfied with the way she introduced him. Without a second thought, Dmitri extended his right hand to Enzo, greeting him with a friendly smile.

"Hello, Buddy. I’m Dmitri. Lanny’s fiancee. It’s nice meeting you!"

Lanny: "..."

Enzo: *Shocked*

There was a moment of silence between Enzo and Lanny.

Lanny had never expected that Dmitri would consider himself as her fiancee even though there was no official announcement yet between the De Luca Family and the Ivankov Family.

She narrowed her eyes at him. She wanted to reprimand Dmitri but she didn’t want to do it in front of Enzo. She was still careful not to offend this powerful guy from the De Luca Family.

On the other hand, Enzo was shocked beyond belief. He had never imagined that Lanny already had a fiancee. Just a few days ago, Lanny told him that she hated commitment. And now, he would find out that she was engaged to someone.

He didn’t want to admit it but Enzo suddenly felt upset and jealous. He thought Lanny lied to him when she said that she hated commitment.

’So the reason why she said to me that what we shared was just on-time pleasure is because of this. She already has a fiancee whom she is going to marry. She didn’t need me to take responsibility... That night meant nothing to her.’

Enzo smiled bitterly at that thought. He couldn’t help it. His heart constricted knowing that Lanny only considered their intimate moment as a one-time pleasure.

’Damn! Why do I feel like I was slapped on my face indirectly?’

"Mr. Enzo? You are gripping my hand tightly. Is there something wrong?"

Dmitri’s voice brought Enzo back to the present. He immediately released Dmitri’s hand and he apologized.

He forced himself to smile. "Nice meeting you too, Dmitri. I didn’t know that Lanny was already engaged. This is my first time hearing this news."

Enzo deliberately gave Lanny a questioning gaze as if asking for her explanation.

Meeting Enzo’s gaze, Lanny felt the need to clarify something. "Oh. It’s because... our engagement is not yet official."

Dmitri’s smile disappeared upon hearing that. ’Why is she explaining this to Enzo?’

"It will be official soon. That’s why I am here." Dmitri butted in once more.

He also wrapped his arm around Lanny’s shoulder. "Enzo, don’t worry. I will invite you to our engagement party. Don’t forget to come. Okay?"

Lanny pursed her lips. She could only sigh helplessly because Dmitri had a point. Sooner or later, the Ivankov Family and the De Luca Family would start discussing the arranged marriage between Dmitri and her.

Enzo just nodded his head, avoiding Lanny’s eyes. "I will."

"I will also send an invitation once I marry Alice," Enzo suddenly blurted out. He didn’t know what had gotten into him but he just felt the need to say those words.

Lanny fell silent at the mention of Alice’s name. Her expression turned gloomy.

"Oh. You have a girlfriend?" Dmitri was surprised.

"Yes. My long-time girlfriend. If she has free time, I will bring her with me and introduce her to you." Enzo promptly responded.

"Oh, I would love that, Buddy." Dmitri’s eyes gleamed with excitement.

"By the way, I should leave. I don’t want to disturb the two of you. Again. I’m glad to meet you, Dmitri." Enzo felt that his presence was no longer needed.

He cast one last look at Lanny as he bid her goodbye. "Lanny, if you have free time tomorrow, can you and Athena drop by the Goddess Elixir Cafe? There is something I need to ask both of you about my father." Enzo decided to reveal the reason why he sought Lanny’s presence.

"Okay. I’ll inform Athena."

Getting her response, Enzo immediately turned around to leave. Lanny could only watch his retreating back.

"Does he really have a girlfriend? Why do I feel like he became sad after hearing the news about your engagement?" Dmitri asked Lanny the moment Enzo disappeared from their sight.

Lanny just rolled her eyes skyward. "That is just your imagination, Mr. De Luca."
