Chapter 130: Lap Dance
[ At V Club... ]
"Cheers!" Athena raised her wine glass, asking for a group toast.
Lanny and Enzo clinked their glasses with her.
"To our success!" Lanny also exclaimed.
"And to my official return!" Enzo joined in. "Everyone knows my whereabouts now."
The three of them chuckled.
"I couldn’t move on. My Uncle’s reaction was so priceless. It seemed like he had seen a ghost when he saw me."
"We need to be more careful. They are threatened by your presence. They might plot something to kick you out of York City." Lanny reminded him.
Enzo bobbed his head. "I know. But catching them off guard is so satisfying. I can feel it. The Williams Family wasn’t prepared for my sudden return. And they didn’t look happy at all. My Uncle’s expression seemed to tell me that he wanted me to disappear."
Athena emitted a soft giggle.
"So true. They appeared to be afraid," she paused for a moment, casting a meaningful look at Enzo. "...afraid of losing the thing they stole from you."
’From us....’
"Sooner or later, Enzo will get the company back," Lanny blurted out. "Do you want to become the Chairman?"
"I’m not sure. I’ve forgotten everything. But for my sister’s sake, I will do anything so that she will have a reason to return here." Enzo was still clueless that his sister was already there, sitting next to him.
"Hello, guys. I’m sorry I’m late," Gael’s voice was heard at the entrance of their private booth.
"You are finally here. Come and join us." Lanny greeted him.
Gael nodded before making his way to Athena. He sat down next to her.
"How are you?" He asked her in a low voice.
He hadn’t seen her for a week because they were avoiding being seen together. Gael was under the surveillance of Dominique’s men. They just stopped following him when Dominique confirmed Sabrina’s death.
"I’m doing fine." Athena promptly responded, giving Gael a friendly hug.
That was the time Vladimir entered the booth, holding another bottle of wine. His expression turned grim when he saw Athena sitting next to Gael.
’That’s my place,’ Vladimir thought to himself.
"Bro, what took you so long?" Lanny snatched the bottle of red wine from Vladimir’s hand.
Vladimir didn’t respond since his eyes were fixed on Athena and Gael.
’Oh, here comes my Jealous Brother!’ Lanny thought to herself, letting out a soft giggle.
"Don’t glare. Gael is Athena’s bestfriend. Control yourself. Don’t pick a fight with him," she whispered, reminding Vladimir to behave.
Vladimir could only sigh deeply, still frowning. He joined them, sitting next to Enzo. He kept on stealing glances at Athena and Gael. The two were busy talking while Vladimir chose to keep quiet.
"Gael, thanks for your help." Athena was referring to the help he provided in faking the medical records so that Dominique would believe that Sabrina was already dead.
Gael just flashed his gentle smile. "I’m always at your service. You know that."
Athena nodded, giving him a grateful look.
"By the way, Congrats! You ruined the Williams’ reputation tonight. It’s a nice move. Melody has to pay for scheming against you. Her plan backfired at her."
A cold glint flashed through Gael’s eyes as he recalled the accident that happened during the video shoot. He was glad Athena wasn’t hurt.
"Athena, you should hire some bodyguards for your own safety," Gael suggested.
Vladimir butted in when he heard that. "I can be her bodyguard. I have lots of free time. I’m the Boss of my own business so I don’t have to work 8 hours a day." Vladimir volunteered himself.
Gael and Vladimir locked eyes with each other. They didn’t want to admit it but they could feel the growing tension between them. This was all because of Athena.
Lanny also noticed the awkward atmosphere between the two men so she decided to invite the group to dance on the dance floor.
"Guys, just sitting here drinking all night is boring. We’re at a nightclub! Let’s go down and enjoy the dance floor!"
Lanny immediately grabbed Athena and Enzo’s hands, grabbing the siblings. She knew that Vladimir and Gael would automatically follow them because of Athena.
They joined the crowd, swaying with the music. Though Athena was partying with them, something was troubling her mind– it was Dominique!
’Sigh, why can’t I forget what he did earlier? He clearly protected my brother. Why? What is his purpose? Does he have another ill motive?’
She was still lost in her thoughts when Gael gently held her waist. Someone almost hit Athena with her elbow while dancing, fortunately, Gael reacted quickly, pulling her close to him.
Gael brought his face closer to her ear and asked her, "Are you okay? You are spacing out. What are you thinking?"
"Oh, It’s nothing. Maybe I got tired," Athena lied. She didn’t want Gael to worry about her.
Meanwhile, Vladimir was now staring at Gael with his bloodshot eyes. He wanted to separate the two but he was afraid that Athena would get mad at him. According to Lanny, Gael was Athena’s childhood best friend.
Vladimir could only clench his fists tightly while restraining himself from pulling Gael away from Athena.
’I’m a guy. I can feel it. Gael likes Athena as well,’ Vladimir thought to himself. He just confirmed his suspicion tonight. Gael was his competitor– his love rival.
’How can I win? Gael has been by Athena’s side since they were children. Do I even stand a chance against him?’
Vladimir was jealous as he witnessed how comfortable Athena was in Gael’s presence. They looked good together as they laughed and teased each other.
After a while, Vladimir could no longer bear it. He turned around and walked away. He just let Athena enjoy his best friend’s company tonight. He didn’t want to act rudely toward Gael. After all, this man was also important to Athena.
Bam!
Brandon, the club manager, and Vladimir’s right-hand man, jolted at the sudden sound of a chair slamming. Vladimir had accidentally kicked the chair as he settled down at the bar counter.
’Uh-oh, the boss is in a bad mood,’ Brandon thought, scratching his face as he exchanged glances with the bartender.
Vladimir asked for a hard liquor. The bartender immediately served him a drink.
Brandon gestured for the bartender to leave their Boss alone. It was best for them to avoid him when he was in a grumpy mood.
"Ah! I get it! Now, I know the reason why Boss is acting like this.’ Brandon smiled anxiously when he saw Athena dancing with another handsome man.
’Someone is jealous.’
Athena had forgotten about Vladimir since she focused her attention on Gael tonight. They hadn’t seen each other for so long so she grabbed this opportunity to bond with him.
Meanwhile, Lanny and Enzo enjoyed their own private moments, making sure not to disturb Gael and Athena.
"Enzo, let’s compete!" Lanny suddenly challenged him.
"Huh? What kind of competition? If it’s a dance-off, count me out." Enzo chuckled.
But Lanny shook her head. "Alright. How about a drinking competition with a twist?"
Enzo arched his eyebrow with intrigue. "Okay. Tell me the rules."
Lanny grabbed Enzo’s elbow, dragging him to the corner table. A mischievous glint sparkled in her eyes as she made him sit.
"It’s simple. This is a famous game called Truth or Dare. If you refuse to answer a question or complete a challenge, you have to drink hard liquor," Lanny explained to him the mechanics of the game.
"Alright. You go first," Enzo agreed.
Lanny just ordered tequila and brandy that would serve as their punishment drink.
"Truth or Dare?" she asked, placing her glass down with a decisive thud.
Enzo grinned, leaning back in his chair. "Truth," he replied, eyes twinkling with anticipation.
Lanny tilted her head, considering her question carefully.
"If you had to choose between Vladimir and Gael, who would you prefer to be with, Athena?"
Enzo laughed, running a hand through his hair. "Oh, that’s a hard one."
He turned around, darting his gaze back and forth between Gael and Vladimir.
"Be honest with your answer... Just think of Athena as your dear sister."
Enzo was having a hard time choosing between the two. He couldn’t remember Gael. And he only interacted with Vladimir a few times.
"I’ll just drink. I need to get to know them first before I can decide."
Lanny had no choice but to pour him a drink. ’Hmm, my brother will need to put in some effort to earn Enzo’s approval.’
Enzo’s eyes narrowed playfully. "My turn! Lanny. Truth or dare?"
"Dare," Lanny said without hesitation, her competitive spirit shining through.
Enzo thought for a moment, thinking so hard. Since he was a gentleman, he didn’t want her to do some naughty things.
"Oh, come on, Enzo. Give me a challenge. Want me to kiss one of the guys out there? Or maybe ask me to dance with the most handsome guy in this club?" Lanny teased, her playful side emerging once again.
Enzo chuckled, shaking his head in disbelief. "No, I’d rather not. You seem a bit too eager for that, so I’ll ask you to do something else instead."
Lanny rolled her eyes skyward. "You’re no fun, Enzo. Kill joy!"
"Just sing me a song," Enzo said.
Deep inside, he didn’t want to see Lanny flirting with another guy so he didn’t follow Lanny’s suggestion.
"Eh? Are you sure? The background music is so loud. You won’t hear me clearly."
"Hmm. Okay. Then just dance in front of me." Enzo changed the challenge.
A few seconds later, Enzo started to regret choosing that dare. Lanny did a lap dance!
