Chapter 129: Solving the Issue

[ At York City Police Department... ]

The police officers who arrested Melody brought her to the YCPD Precinct. She was immediately detained for interrogation.

"I will not speak until I talk with my attorney," Melody said, invoking her right to remain silent.

Melody had been briefed by her father not to say a word. The investigator had no choice but to let her be.

"Where is my daughter?" Alfonso asked the police officer in his authoritative voice.

"She is brought into the interrogation room."

"Bring me to her. I need to talk to her," Alfonso ordered the police. He tried to intimidate them.

Alfonso Williams is one of the prominent figures in York City. They didn’t want to offend this guy.

"I’ll escort you, Sir. This way, please."

Meona followed his husband from behind. They already called their attorney. But he needed to talk to her daughter first.

’What kind of trouble did she create this time? Attempted murder? Is it for real?’

Alfonso couldn’t believe that Melody would scheme something like this against Athena. She was a very important endorser of their company. How could she do that without consulting him?

With heavy footsteps, Alfonso and his wife headed to the interrogation room. His expression turned ashen as he glanced at Melody.

Melody put on a pitiful face, asking Alfonso’s help. "Dad! I don’t want to be here. I want to go home! This place stinks! I feel like I’m going to die here!"

Alfonso didn’t feel pity for her; instead, he was seething with fury. Their family’s name and reputation had been dragged through the mud when Melody was arrested in front of those VIP guests.

"Because of you, our family has become a laughingstock! And I’m utterly mortified that Enzo had to witness my daughter being taken away by the police at her engagement party!"

"Tell me! What did you do behind my back?!" Alfonso barked at her, his rage uncontrollable.

He slammed his fist on the table, causing Melody to startle in fear. She trembled, afraid of her father’s wrath.

"I’m sorry, Dad! I’m sorry," she cowered, apologizing to her father.

"Honey, please calm down. Let’s listen to her explanation first. Getting angry won’t help. You’re only making your daughter more nervous. We’re here to support her," Meona interjected, attempting to pacify her angry husband.

Because of Meona’s interference, Alfonso finally calmed down, controlling his rage. He pulled the chair and sat down, facing Melody.

"Now, talk. If you want me to protect you then tell us everything. I want to know the truth. Did you really do it?"

Melody bobbed her head with her teary eyes.

"Yes, Dad. I hired someone to do it. But I didn’t try to kill her. All I want is a minor accident to give her a lesson. That woman slapped me, Dad! I told you to remove her from being our product endorser but you didn’t listen to me." Melody confessed.

Alfonso’s cold, sharp glare pierced through her, filled with disdain. He hated the accusatory tone in his daughter’s words. It seemed as though she was implying that he was at fault for not removing Athena as their product endorser.

Suppressing his rising fury, Alfonso spoke through gritted teeth, his voice laced with restrained frustration. "Watch your tone, Melody," he warned sharply. "Athena’s endorsement has nothing to do with this situation. You brought this upon yourself with your reckless behavior."

"You didn’t even make sure that the person you hired won’t backstab you. See?! Your accomplice betrayed you!" Alfonso lectured her once again.

Meona gently tapped her husband’s shoulder, her voice soft but firm. "Honey, don’t blame Melody. We’re here to find a solution. Direct your anger towards the traitor who betrayed our daughter."

Melody looked at her mother gratefully. She was like her hero. Meona doted on her a lot, spoiling her as always. She didn’t care even if Melody was at fault, she would always side with her. That’s the kind of mother she was. She could tolerate her daughter’s mistake.

"Sigh." Alfonso took a deep breath. "Fine. Who is that person?"

"His name is Allan, one of our employees," Melody replied.

"Aside from his words, does he have proof that you were the one who asked him to cause an accident during the video shoot?" Alfonso lifted his eyebrow, anticipating his daughter’s reply.

"I’m not sure, Dad. I gave him the money. It’s cash. After that, I met him again. We talked about the incident. And I ask him to lie low."

Alfonso rubbed the space in between his eyebrows. "I think he set you up. The second time he met you, he might have recorded your conversation. It will serve as proof that you hired him."

"You are so reckless. You created your own doom!" Alfonso could no longer hold his temper.

He couldn’t believe that Melody would be so stupid.

"I can get you out here! But my main concern is that... you were humiliated in front of the Jones Family! I am afraid that they might reconsider this marriage!" Alfonso expressed his concern.

The damage had been done. He didn’t know how the Jones Family would react after this scandalous incident. Melody’s reputation had been ruined in just one night!

"Don’t worry too much, Honey. Let’s clean up the mess first. We have to start with Allan. We need to find this guy." Meona spoke in her soft yet firm tone while staring at her husband meaningfully.

Alfonso just nodded in response. With just one look from his wife, he already understood what she was conveying to him.

"I’ll deal with him. Now, let’s wait for your attorney. I will just make a call."

Alfonso excused himself, leaving Melody and Meona in the interrogation room.

"Don’t worry, my dear. Your father will do something to solve this problem. We will never let our princess stay inside the prison cell." Meona comforted her daughter.

"Thanks, Mom! I’m so glad you are always here to protect me. I promise. I will never make the same mistake ever again."

Meona just smiled at her tenderly, caressing Melody’s face. "Anyway. So this Athena slapped my princess. You should have told me first. I’m your mother. And as your mother, I will do anything to protect you. I could have convinced your father."

"Sorry, Mom. I didn’t want to bother you. You were right. This wouldn’t happened if I had sought your help first." Melody regretted her action.

Meona just let out a soft giggle."It’s alright. At least, you’ve learned your lesson."

"Now, tell me about Athena. Why did she slap you?"

Meona was determined to seek justice for her daughter after the mistreatment she endured from Athena. She refused to allow anyone to harm her precious daughter. It was because of that woman that Melody found herself in this predicament.

’Athena is the one to blame.’ Meona’s hatred was directed to Athena.

"Mom, Athena, and her manager are friends with Enzo. They bullied me and hit me when I told them that Enzo was a criminal. Enzo and his bitch friends ganged up against me." Melody played as a victim even though she was the one who picked a fight with them first.

"Ah, your cousin is back... and he caused you a big trouble. Your Dad will not let this slide. I bet your father will teach Enzo a lesson. He shouldn’t have come back."

Melody nodded in agreement. "Mom, what if Enzo will try to reclaim the company? Do you think there is a chance he will get their company back? I know how important the SACE Group is to Enzo. That company is Uncle Albert’s legacy."

"Hmm. There is no more SACE Group. Only W Diamond Group. And this is our company now. NOT his." Meona emphasized her last words.

"I understand, Mom. I know Dad will never allow Enzo to take over our company. Their era has ended." Melody was confident that Enzo would not be able to reclaim the company.

Meanwhile, in the dimly lit parking area, Alfonso reached for his phone, his fingers tapping with urgency as he dialed the number of his most trusted ally - Uno, the leader of the Black Spider. Whenever he found himself in a dire predicament, he knew he could depend on the Black Spider to deliver results and clear the mess.

As the phone rang, Alfonso’s mind raced with plans and strategies. He knew that with the Black Spider on his side, someone would do the dirty work for him. They had a long history of collaboration!

Now, faced with this latest crisis involving his daughter Melody, Alfonso was confident that the Black Spider would once again prove to be an invaluable asset in solving his problems.

"Boss! What’s up! Do you have a task for us again?" Uno’s voice echoed from the other line.

"Yes, I need your assistance. Someone is messing with my daughter and trying to send her to prison. You must clear her name at any cost! I want this scandal resolved as swiftly as possible!"

"Consider it done, Boss!"
