Chapter 114: A Small World
Chapter 114: A Small World
Athena maintained her friendly vibe while trying to ignore Timothy’s praises. She knew that this guy just wanted to impress her, thinking she could give him a chance. In her eyes, his motive was clear. He could see Athena as his next target.
"By the way, Athena, do you mind telling me the reason why you are interested in Sasha? Or perhaps, your curiosity lies more with Dominique, considering he won the bid previously," Timothy rubbed his chin, anticipating her answer.
"Simply because I want to get close to Sasha. I want to become her friend," Athena lied.
Timothy merely shrugged his shoulders, unconvinced by her words. He sensed that there was more to her intentions than she let on.
"Anyway, I hope this is the start of our partnership. Are you interested in working under my company?" Timothy was eager to hear her ’Yes.’
Athena smiled meaningfully. "Do you know that Oliver Jones has to fulfill five conditions before I sign the contract? I didn’t even show my face to him. What can you do for me, Mr. Wilson?"
She arched her eyebrow, challenging him.
Timothy just let out a husky chuckle.
"I can do anything for you. Just tell me what you want. I can fulfill more than five conditions!" he declared confidently.
"Brave! I like that. Sure. I’ll tell you once I need you." Athena chose to play along with Timothy.
He extended his right hand, asking to seal the deal between them. Athena didn’t hesitate to accept it.
"By the way, are you free? Do you want to have dinner with me tonight?" Timothy shamelessly invited her out of the blue.
However, Athena politely rejected him. "I’m sorry. I have plans. I’m a busy person, Mr. Wilson."
"Alright. I hope the next time I invite you, you will be available and make some time for me."
Athena had the urge to roll her eyes skyward. She just stopped herself from doing so.
"We will see."
She couldn’t wait to finish this conversation. She lifted her head, secretly glancing at the CCTV Camera. Her gaze seemed to ask Lanny for her help. She wanted to send Timothy off already.
It did not take long before Athena’s phone rang. Her eyes glistened when she saw Lanny’s caller ID. This was her cue to leave.
"I’m sorry, Mr. Wilson. I think I have to end our conversation now." Athena showed him her phone screen, letting him know that her manager was calling her. "Nice meeting you again. And thanks for sharing your valuable secret with me."
"The pleasure is mine, Miss Athena. It’s my honor to finally see your beautiful face. See you again next time."
Athena just nodded, smiling at him faintly.

"Hey, Athena, are you okay?" Lanny patted her back before sitting next to her.
Athena heaved a deep sigh. "Talking to Timothy is too tiring."
She took a sip of her refreshment drink, relieving her stress. She tried her best to keep her calm while talking to a shameless and arrogant guy like Timothy earlier. In short, she didn’t like his vibe.
"He is the epitome of a typical guy... a man will always be a man. He is even proud of being with different women with no serious commitment." Athena shook her head in disappointment.
Lanny could only giggle. "A playboy indeed! So what did you learn from him?"
"It’s confirmed. Sasha and Timothy had a secret affair. I also learned that Sasha met your brother in the V-Club. According to Timothy’s story, Vladimir saved Sasha. She slept with Timothy thinking he was Vladimir.
"WHAT?!! That bitch crossed paths with my brother?! And worst! He saved her! Damn it! What a small world! I wanna punch that guy. Did she flirt with Vladimir as well? I can’t let this go! I have to confront my brother about this."
Athena was about to stop Lanny from calling Vladimir when suddenly the same man showed up in front of their table.
"Are you done with your meeting?" Vladimir’s husky voice echoed inside the Cafe.
"Right timing!" Lanny exclaimed.
She rose from her seat and dragged Vladimir, making him sit on the opposite chair, facing them.
"I heard you saved a woman named Sasha. Is it true?! Did you flirt with that bitch?"
Vladimir frowned as her name didn’t ring a bell in his ears. "Who is that?"
Lanny facepalmed. "Can’t you remember? The one you saved at the V Club?"
Athena just stayed silent, watching the Ivankov siblings. She was also curious how Vladimir met Sasha. Why did he have to save her? From whom?
"I don’t quite remember her. But I am certain that I didn’t do it to save her. Some annoying gang members set foot in my territory, I had no choice but to deal with them myself. It just so happened that woman was their target." Vladimir recalled his fight with the gang members.
"Why? Do you know her? Are you acquainted with that woman?" Vladimir asked Lanny and Athena. If she was their friend, then he thought he should have treated her well.
"Hell, NO!" Lanny exclaimed. "She’s our enemy! The woman who was having a secret affair with Athena’s ex-husband. Now, she’s his new wife!"
"You stupid! You shouldn’t have saved her!" Lanny added, punching Vladimir’s shoulder.
Vladimir was taken aback when he discovered that. Lanny was right. He shouldn’t have intervened at that time. If he only knew that the woman was Athena’s enemy.
"I’m sorry. I didn’t know," Vladimir apologized to Athena.
But Athena just gave him a reassuring smile. "Hey, it’s alright. You don’t have to apologize."
Lanny pursed her lips, crossing her arms over her chest as she eyed Vladimir suspiciously. "Did she flirt with you?"
"Of course not!" Vladimir promptly responded. Then he glanced at Athena anxiously. "Believe me, Athena... I never interact with that woman. I don’t care about her. You can ask my staff! I went home immediately after that fight. Remember the night I showed up in Lanny’s condo unit with my bleeding hands?"
Athena nodded. She believed Vladimir’s words. "Yes. I remembered it. I trust you."
Vladimir heaved a sigh of relief when he heard that. Then he shot his sister acold sharp glare. He thought Lanny was trying to stir a conflict between Athena and him.
"Stop accusing me, Lanny. You know me. I never flirted with anyone... except Athena!"
Athena: "..."
Athena’s cheeks reddened in embarrassment when she heard Vladimir’s declaration. ’He only flirted with me... When did he do that?’
On the other hand, Lanny burst out laughing. She knew that it was a slip of the tongue since Vladimir was now blushing as well. He looked away, avoiding Athena’s eyes.
"Yeah. I know. You only set your eyes on Athena. No one else but her!" Lanny emphasized, giving her brother a playful wink as she began teasing the pair.
"So what is her name again?" Vladimir asked. This time he got interested in Sasha only because she was Athena’s enemy. He would like to make this woman suffer, avenging Athena.
"Sasha Gomez Smith! That’s her complete name. Avoid her. She’s a seductress! She loves flirting with handsome men! I think you are one of her types!" Lanny warned her brother.
Vladimir’s expression twisted with disgust at her final words. "You don’t need to remind me. Just hearing her name is enough to make my blood boil."
Lanny and Athena exchanged glances with one another before erupting into a peal of laughter. Vladimir was very loyal to Athena. The two women truly appreciated him.
"By the way, where is Enzo?" Vladimir scanned his surroundings, searching for Enzo.
"He is currently in the kitchen," Lanny responded. "Why? Do you need anything from him?" She eyed him suspiciously.
Lanny began to notice the changes in Vladimir’s treatment of Enzo. He wasn’t jealous anymore. But instead, it looked like he wanted to befriend Enzo. Well, she could understand it. Vladimir was already aware that Enzo was Athena’s brother. If he wanted to win Athena’s heart then he needed to impress and befriend his future brother-in-law.
"Please excuse me. I’ll just check on Enzo." Vladimir said goodbye to the ladies since he had something to discuss with Enzo.
When he left, Lanny nudged Athena’s shoulder. "Athena, honestly, I don’t mind if Vladimir will give Sasha a few lessons, punishing her on your behalf. It seems to me that Sasha is attracted to my brother. Should I encourage my brother to break Sasha’s heart as well?"
Lanny grinned from ear to ear as she thought of her evil scheme.
Athena could only smile and say, "Hey, don’t use your brother. Vladimir doesn’t deserve it. I don’t want him to interact with Sasha."
"Haha! Oops. Is my friend being possessive of my brother now?" Lanny teased her further.
Athena just smiled helplessly, neither admitting nor denying it.
Beep! Beep!
They were in the middle of their conversation when Athena received a message from Dominique.
