Hero or Villain, Both -
Chapter 94: Far more than expected
Chapter 94: Far more than expected
There were a total of over two hundred people that had been recruited in this round of recruitment.
Out of these two hundred people, there were fifty of them that had special talents.
That one girl with the sword talent was named Iris and she really was like a sponge when it came to sword techniques. As long as she saw it once, she would be able to copy any technique that I used.
Well, other than techniques that had a physique requirement.
She still didn’t have enough strength to use those techniques yet.
Other than that, she was able to copy every technique that I threw at her.
It reached a point where I ran out of techniques to show.
Even if Gran Jurad was a hero that had access to some of the best teachers in the world, there was only so much that he would be able to learn.
This girl Iris was even better than him when it came to learning swordsmanship.
But it wasn’t as if the hero only knew how to use the sword.
There was another boy that I found that was quite skilled, but it wasn’t the sword that he was skilled with.
This boy named Chris was skilled with the spear.
He was just like Iris where he was able to absorb all of the techniques that I showed him.
When Iris saw that there was someone who was like her that could copy any techniques that he saw, she couldn’t help viewing him as her rival.
Other than these two, there were others that showed skills with the swords and other weapons to a certain degree. Only there wasn’t a single person that had been able to reach the same level as these two.
These two could be considered true geniuses compared to the others.
As long as these people were trained up, there was no doubt that they would be able to become powerful subordinates in the future. It was just that time was needed for them to train.
Other than this, there were also a few that I took interest in.
These were trainees that had traces of mana around them.
They didn’t know that they had this talent and it had only been forced out when they had been in danger. If it wasn’t for my increased senses from my shared stats, then I wouldn’t have been able to figure out that these people passively released mana as they fought for their lives.
It was something that was done unconsciously, so it wasn’t something that they knew how to control.
But that went to show how much talent that they had that they were able to release mana unconsciously like this.
As long as I taught them with some of the knowledge that Faust shared with me, then they would be able to become magicians in the future.
Magicians were rare in this wilderness because of how hard it was to train them in the first place. At the same time, it wasn’t as if there were magical resources that were in this wilderness to begin with.
Those that had a talent in magic wouldn’t remain in a place like this.
But if I taught them and instilled loyalty in them...
Well, I would be able to create an unstoppable army with these trainees that had talent for magic.
Or at least I would be able to create an army that had never been seen in this wilderness before.
Other than these fifty, there were other things that I noticed about these people.
Once I had opened my mind to the other possibilities, I didn’t hold back exploring them.
While they weren’t skilled in fighting, they were skilled in other things.
The most important was the ability to hide themselves.
There were a few that had this ability.
They weren’t on the same level as Mia, but they were able to hide themselves quite well.
With them following Mia, they would make quite the good assassin squad or an espionage squad.
Regardless of how they were used, it would be putting their talent to the best use.
Then other than that, I started going over what the rest of the trainees could do.
Even if they didn’t have talent that were suited for combat, that didn’t mean that they were completely useless.
I found that a few of them had talent for cooking and talent for forging.
That was when I created a logistics department as well.
It wasn’t a good thing to rely on outside sources for things like this, so it was best to make the guards a separate entity that would be able to rely on itself. I even found a few people that were good at farming, so I created a space for them to supply food for the guards.
All in all, I really was getting into acting like a leader for these guards.
When it was all over, there was a solid layout of how the guards would organize themselves.
I looked at Vanessa who had helped open my mind and helped plan this to say, "Thank you for everything. If it wasn’t for you telling me that, then I never would have thought of all of this."
She looked at me with a strange look when I said this.
It seemed like she wanted to say something, but she also seemed to be hesitating.
But in the end, Vanessa said what she wanted to say, "Aren’t you taking this a bit too far?"
I raised a brow look at her before looking down at all the plans on the table in front of me.
An awkward smile appeared on my face before I said, "Well, maybe a bit too far. But still, it’s never a bad thing to be prepared since they’ll be protecting our town."
Vanessa looked a bit surprised when she heard this, but then she nodded in agreement with a smile on her face as she repeated, "Our town."
"It’s our town too." Mia and Leaf said from the side.
I couldn’t help shaking my head with a smile seeing this.
But the seeds had been sown.
