Chapter 82: Sacred Shell (7)

Chapter 82: Sacred Shell (7)

As I was trying to figure out what this was, there was a change that happened around me.

The darkness seemed to become even stronger as it started blocking out more and more of my field of vision.

Though this was happening, I didn’t panic.

All I did was draw my attention back to see what would happen after this darkness became stronger.

"Give up your body without any struggle and I’ll be gentle. After all, your body will be my body in the future, so I don’t want to damage it."

The voice seemed like it was assured of its victory, but I wasn’t worried at all.

Instead, I just calmly asked, "Who are you?"

"Oh? It seems like your willpower is quite good that you’re able to hold on even against my Mental Screw. However, it isn’t as if a human like you will be able to hold up against my great powers. Just give up now and I promise to let you go without any suffering."

The voice still seemed assured of its victory, but I could understand why.

If it could do all of this, there was no doubt that it had tricks up its sleeve that I didn’t know about.

As such, it should be qualified to act this confident.

Only it wasn’t as if I was that easy to take down.

Thinking about it, I suddenly said, "What is this drilling sensation in my head? What have you done to me?"

"Ha, ha, ha, that sensation will continue to grow stronger and stronger as long as you don’t give up. The smart thing to do now is to give up and hand over your body to me. I’ll spare you from the suffering if you just give up."

Then after bragging, the voice said, "It won’t hurt to let you know about this. This is my Mental Screw skill that allows me to drill into the heads of my victims to take them over. As long as I keep using this ability, you will keep feeling the same drilling sensation."

"So you’re some kind of body stealing demon?" I asked in a strained voice that seemed like I was getting weaker.

"That’s right! I was sealed in this crappy relic all those years ago, but I was one of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Demon King. How could the crappy hero possibly keep me sealed forever? And now I’ll have my revenge by taking over the body of the new hero! I can’t wait to see the look on their faces when they see their hero attacking them."

The way that the voice spoke, it seemed that it was carrying quite the grudge against the previous hero that it was venting out on me.

But I did get some precious information.

Previous Four Heavenly Kings.

The Demon King would confer this title onto powerful demons that would lead his army.

This wasn’t possible for Val Zahar since he hadn’t taken over the demon race yet, but it was possible for the previous Demon King who had been recognized by the demon race as their absolute ruler.

These words from the voice gave me an idea of who he was.

After all, the previous Four Heavenly Kings were recorded in the game.

Out of the four choices, it should be...

"Malphis, the shadow demon, right?" I slowly asked the voice.

The laughter that had been ringing out suddenly stopped when I said this and there was a silence that lingered in the air.

After a long silence, the voice from before said, "How do you know this?"

There was a trace of caution that was in the voice as it said this.

"Ha, it seems like I hit the nail on the head." This time, it was my turn to be confident.

"You! Do you think that you’ll be able to do anything if you know who I am? Do you really think that a puny human like you can do anything to me?"

Though the voice seemed aggressive, I could tell that there was a trace of fear that was in the voice.

Since I had been able to recognize it and expose its identity, it was only right that it was afraid.

But I ignored all of this as I walked forward to the Sacred Shell that was on the pedestal.

Malphis had said that it was sealed inside of this relic, so that meant that its soul should be sealed inside of it. To access that, the first thing that I had to do was...

Raising the hero’s sword in my other hand, I gripped the Sacred Shell in my hand and there was a light that came from it.

"What’s going on? Why isn’t my Mental Screw working?"

Though there was that voice filled with panic that rang out, I just ignored it all as I focused on binding with the Sacred Shell.

After a while, the light from the Sacred Shell disappeared and it reverted back to normal. With how idle it was, it really seemed like nothing had happened at all.

But the voice that rang out proved otherwise.

"You actually bound yourself with the Sacred Shell and became its master? How is that possible?" The voice was shaking in fear at this point.

Though the one thing that it couldn’t understand the most was...

"Why can’t I feel a single trace of my Mental Screw? Why is it not working at all?"

I just continued to ignore the voice as I looked down at the Sacred Shell that was in my hand.

After all, I was still trying to figure out what to do.

As I had expected, the soul of Malphis, one of the previous Four Heavenly Kings, had been sealed inside of this Sacred Shell.

Only it wasn’t as if I wanted to destroy it since this soul was something that I could use.

"I guess I’ll use some of the soul sealing spells that Faust mastered. I guess it wasn’t a waste at all."

"How? How can a hero of light like you use necromancy? Just what are you?"
