Chapter Forty-Three – Escaped
The case couldn’t get worse. "While you are here, how about... you train me! We never get to see each other so I thought we should train, you know."
If he succumbed and leaves the entrance then Marcus could run out. It was her last plan. Frida and Marcus gave themselves questioning looks.
Sorren closed the book he was reading and got up. "What do you think I am to you? Your personal trainer?"
He was leaving? Laurel followed him as he begun to walk away. "Oh, you can decide not to but I feel stronger so I wanted to try."
She signaled to Frida and Marcus to go ahead, Sorren’s back was against the entrance. The two carefully ran to it.
"Stefan told me to stop training Sigma." Sorren paused and Laurel did the same. "So why should I train his mate?"
A frown came to Laurel’s face. Was that why he was in a bad mood? She didn’t know much about him but she definitely knew Sigma was important to him. Stefan telling him how to live his life was definitely offending.
Or at least, that was how she saw it. "Could you not see me as Stefan’s mate? I’m much more than that."
The corner of Sorren’s lips went up. "I shouldn’t see you as Stefan’s mate? Then what should I see you as?"
Well, she was a princess of Green Valleys before. She looked up. What should he see her as? She heard him sigh. "Can I go back though? To the entrance?"
Laurel went back. "W-Why? Y-You left, didn’t you?"
Sorren rolled his yes. "Did you think it wasn’t obvious you were trying to sneak someone out of there? It’s not my business though." he turned back to the entrance.
Laurel’s shoulders felt weak. And there she was thinking she somehow managed to outwit him. Either ways, Marcus escaped and that was all that matters.
"I still want you to train me though." She said following him back to the entrance. "I think tough training from someone as I hinged as you, will do me plenty good."
If he could mold her to be anything close to Sigma then it’d go a long way too. He sat at the entrance, crossing his legs. "Princess Laurel, please return to your quarters. I’m trying to wait for my order."
She still stood there. The guards were rummaging the quarters so it’s uncomfortable being there. "Give me a tip."
"Tip of what?" he asked quickly, giving her side eyes.
Laurel chuckled. "Sorry, tips. Tips to grow stronger."
Sorren looked away from her. "Growing strong will first been borne from your desire. Don’t you desire strength?"
"Oh right, it’s now borne from desire? I’ve heard it’s genetics, now I’m hearing desire." she rubbed her face. Sorren glanced at her then back at his book. "I’d really appreciate if you bother someone else to train you. Maybe Cade. I’m sure he’d be tough on you."
Wasn’t that asking to be killed? Yet, Laurel enquired more. "Should I tell him you sent me?"
"That could get you killed, even if you said it was me. That’s like a faster ticket to death."
Laurel stayed quiet before nodding. "In other words, I should get strong by myself." Someone was panting and running towards them. Sorren left his chair. "Yes, get strong by yourself. Or else, it won’t be so fun to watch."
The person arrived and handed a small paper bag to Sorren. "I replaced the item, Prince Sorren."
Was it the guard that left for Jappongi? He was back already? Laurel scrutinized the bag and saw it was a candy bag. Did Sorren really stress the guard for sweets?
"Hmm. Take over your position then." Sorren briskly walked off. Laurel ran back to the maid quarters before the guard would ask her what she was doing there.
As she walked back, she noticed the guards were already back at their station, in front of the quarter’s entrance. Then she paused. "Wait, where’s Frida?"
She never passed back, after crossing the entrance with Marcus, and she wasn’t supposed to cross with him. Could it be she ran off too? To Darren’s place?
Laurel clenched her fists tightly but it slowly loosened. "Well, she’s free. I’ve a feeling that if I ever try something like that. I’d be shackled hands and feet back here." But someday she’d surely leave, she just had to do something that’d make Stefan tire of her.
On returning to her room, she saw her lunchbox at her doorstep. Lia usually kept it there to avoid Frida’s scolding. "I think I’d hide the fact that Frida is gone, for some days, or else the guards would suspect."
If a strange visitor came to the maid quarters, and the same day, Frida left, it’d raise suspicions. It won’t be hard hiding that Frida was gone, she helped in nothing anyway.
Opening the lunchbox, Laurel had an indifferent facial expression. The food was smoking hot, which had never happened before.
Her foods were usually warm or cold but still tasted nice. This particular one looked like it was freshly made but she couldn’t be so sure. Not after what Stefan said.
She took it out and dumped it in trashcan, still inside it’s box. Lisa noticed her action and tried taking it out. "Lisa, drop that." She said sternly, then walked away. The little girl dropped it, while wondering why it was dumped. "Curse you, Stefan." Laurel seethed. Now she’d have to pass the night on an empty stomach. "I’d escape you."

Jessika brought a tray into the dining table and bowed on seeing Stefan. He didn’t notice her and kept on poking at his fish. "Was he lost in thoughts?" she wondered.
She took out each plate from her tray and placed them on the table but he didn’t give her a glance. Jessika cleared her throat.
"Alpha, do you want me to make something else for you? If you don’t like what was made I could swiftly make something..." she trailed off.
What he ate hadn’t come from her kitchen? And, none of the cooks made fish stew. It wasn’t on the menu. Also, the plate looked unfamiliar.
"What did you just say?"
Jessika’s body ran cold when she head her voice. She bowed. "Lady Jade. I didn’t see you. Today we made..."
But a slap landed on her face.
"You’d make something else for him because he doesn’t like what he’s eating? The audacity to say that about my food!" Jade barked.
Jessika held her chin, tightly. The meal was made by Lady Jade? She had no idea. She only tried doing her job as a cook and perhaps garner favor from the Alpha that’d help her in the future.
Instead, she had offended the future Luna. "I’m done for. Master Darren, please save me." Jessika cried inwardly.
