Her Vengeful Lycan Alpha -
Chapter 369: Young
Chapter 369: Young
Chapter Three Sixty-Nine – Young!
Zeldris hugged the twins when he found them. Before he’d been thinking of how he’d die alone but after realizing that the twins were gone, he didn’t think he’d get to live long enough to die old.
Princess Laurel will kill him for losing her children.
That’s if he didn’t die of depression before that.
"Don’t do that again." Zeldris warned the two. He wanted to sound tough and strict but his voice was filled with relief and had a teary edge.
Mira laughed and Marino felt better that Zeldris was no longer sad. He pulled him towards a table with cake. "Let’s eat cake, Zeldis. Can we bring cake to Princess?"
Zeldris smirked. Was that his way to apologize? "We’d need a whole table to satisfy her. Do you have the strength?" he poked at the little boy’s tiny muscles.
Marino looked at his small arms and shook his head when he saw nothing impressive, feeling disappointed at his absent muscles. It made Zeldris and Mira laugh at him.
Like a creep, Lady Cara had been watching the twins with Zeldris since Prince Sorren found them. She wanted to see if he’d dare speak that way to Prince Sorren.
What she found was that he was polite and even willing to help the Prince. What’s more was that it seemed the Prince thought well of him and had even smiled?!
That’s not what she expected but she wasn’t displeased at what she saw because this Zeldris was also really good with kids and she felt like she misunderstood him.
The twins acted like it was their older brother speaking and that might mean he treated them that way.
When she had heard his age, she had been dumbstruck. How did a nineteen year old dare to speak to her like that? She’s twenty-one!
Wouldn’t that Delta be even younger?
She should’ve realized. The actual officials must’ve been killed by the Alpha and her brother so majority of Green Valleys officials would be children of the officials.
The princess was just eighteen so all her other officials would be around the same age. Cara sighed.
Someone touched her back and she turned to the new face she’d been seeing around. "Yes, what do you want?"
It was Saki, she bowed and pointed to Beta Cade at the other end of the hall. "Your brother says I should call you to greet the Prince of Damancas."
Cara’s eyes widened. A Prince of Damancas was here at High Mountains? Was her brother trying to pair her up with a Prince or he meant formally?
She hurried to the other end and paused when she saw the beautiful form besides her brother.
She turned around and held her beating chest. What kind of woman was she that got attracted to any beautiful or powerful man? She shouldn’t be so easy to get!
Saki noticed her blushed cheeks and sympathized internally. Those Princes were all rotten pieces of trash who’d only care about her beauty.
Not to add that the Queen of Damancas would never accept any woman she didn’t bring for her son, more or less a lycan with a powerful family member.
Lady Cara breathed in and out and walked towards the Prince with a relaxed smile. "Good morning, I am Lady Cara, your highness."
Prince Kiad stared at the beauty for a while before smiling. He could see the resemblance between the lycan Beta, that made him shake inside, and the lady.
"Good morning, my lady. The name is Prince Kiad. It’s really nice to meet you."
No matter how beautiful a woman was, in this environment, the only woman he wanted to conquer was the Princess Laurel and that’s the only reason he came.
Also, this Lady was a lycan so that’s a big no. He could never bring her into the palace, much less as one of his women. She had a scary brother too.
He looked at the one behind her.
The witch besides Kiad had informed him that another witch was around and Kiad’s ring had identified her. She was pretty too but he knew better than to woo a witch.
He turned to the Beta who took him towards the visitor’s area. Lady Cara stood frozen. Even if the Prince had replied her greeting well, he still didn’t seem to look at her.
Couldn’t her beauty had compel him to talk to her more? Saki came to her side and explained to the confused lycan. "The Prince doesn’t really like lycans."
It was like the smoke in Cara’s head cleared out and she remembered that not every kingdom was Black Claws. Damancas even had lycan hunters.
The realization hurt her and she looked down, feeling only disappointment. Why did no one see her? She did her best so why did it seem like she’s incapable of being loved?
Saki left her afterwards to wake up birthday boy that wanted to sleep for twenty four hours. He had said he wanted to enjoy the whole day before the D-Day.
Sleeping through it had been his idea of enjoying the day.
By afternoon all the guests arrived and the celebration had been moving smoothly. The guests from High Moon had been Slime and an Elder.
Sorren didn’t expect the King to have known about Sigma’s birthday and had arranged a gift for him. "He keeps being more and more of a problem."
He noticed the twins walk past him with gifts too. They ran back and ran forward again with even more gifts and kept doing that for a while.
They didn’t care that the place was crowded and kept on hitting anyone who blocked them while running happily about.
Sorren smiled unconsciously and looked around for who they came with. It was dangerous to leave them alone.
He saw their caretaker and seated on the same table was a young boy with dark red hair and a serious face. He wore a black regal attire and a small crown on his head.
Speak of trying to steal the day, but Sorren didn’t mind. His brother had told him about the young man, the Beta of Green Valleys, he was truly a young boy.
There was a lady by his side, cladded from head to toe. Sorren narrowed his eyes at her. A cladded lady in Green Valleys? Could she be the one that attacked him?
On closer inspection, he saw that she didn’t fit the description. The lady that attacked looked taller and younger. He knew it was a lady because she had said something when she missed him.
She didn’t sound familiar, or many the clothes she wore over her face covered her voice from being heard. She had no scent so could be a trained assassin.
There’s no reason for Princess to keep a trained assassin in her pack. Another cladded lady walked to their table with more gifts and Sorren watched the Beta gesture to her to drop it at the gift altar.
He also saw the worried look Zeldris had and how he stopped the lady from dropping it. He came closer to hear them but the place was crowded so they couldn’t see him.
"Um... did Bebe package it for you? Is it a different kind of gift?" Zeldris asked, wondering why the Beta brought that one in specially. "The twins can send it there."
"It’s heavy." The young Beta interrupted. "Let her send it there." He gestured for the maiden to leave again.
Zeldris sighed, watching the maiden leave. The Beta hadn’t put a dead animal or wore inside the box, had he? That’d cause an uproar.
"It’s really something safe?" Zeldris asked and looked at the box, standing out amongst the rest. He grew even more panicked when the birthday celebrant went to the box.
The box was opened and Sigma smiled. Zeldris heart beat had never slowed down so fast as it did in that moment. The gift had been a thoughtful gift?
Sorren couldn’t place why Zeldris was worried about what the gift would be? Did the young Beta have a history of gifting back gifts? He noticed Baxter check it.
Baxter didn’t look as pleased and had stared at the young Beta cautiously. "Is there something I’m missing?" Sorren wondered. He sighed.
He didn’t live with them anymore so he’d miss out on the interesting drama. He’d have to ask Baxter later, till then this young Beta and his cladded maidens were a suspect.
He left them to look for his older brother again. The Princess’s Knight, Zeldris, seemed to be the cousin that he’s looking for, and the young man didn’t know him.
But why? If he had asked about him from the blond elder then shouldn’t he know they’re related?
The Princess was definitely aware then why didn’t she say anything? She must’ve known that her Knight had been searching for his family member.
Due to her recent ill feelings towards them, would she stop her Knight from making contact with him?
