Chapter 340: Quincy

Chapter Three Hundred-Forty – Quincy

Laurel glared at the culprit who suddenly barged into her life and made her question and regret every minute! What did he mean by she should take care of him?

How did he relate to her exactly and what good will he bring to her? And how dare he chain her in a cage?

"Atrocious!" She slammed her leg at his stomach with great force. "How dare you frustrate me!"

His eyes shot open and he coughed out, he groaned in pain and she left him writhing and rolling on the ground.

"Now, get up and remove this barrier before I—"

She remembered something she read in the letter, but didn’t look carefully. Afficus had mentioned ’if the little flower is bloomed, you can have him as a suitable son’.

Didn’t that flower mean her? And suitable son? "That’s a marriage, wasn’t it?" she had over looked it as a Afficus speaking of flowers but it might not be the case.

She glanced at Quincy curled up like a cat. There’s a very poor impression she had of him, a flashy pervert, sadistic white wolf with monstrous size. Not ’husband-able’.

"Will you get up?"

She stretched her hand towards the barrier. Quincy noticed and left the ground immediately.

The moment Laurel touched it, her body sprung back while spasms of shock reverberated inside of her.

She bit down the pain and remembered the instances of barrier being very powerful. She cursed at herself for forgetting. Did it mean the rest were trapped there?

She touched the surface she was on and cringed when she touched human flesh. She left his body with a slight blush on her cheeks. "T-Thank you."

He was quite fast to have caught her in time, she thought but she didn’t compliment it. Her eyes returned to the barrier. "I don’t think you are a magician, are you?"

"I didn’t put that up." He said with a shrug.

Laurel narrowed her eyes at it. He didn’t? Then, could it be Thales? She could tell he was unconscious now so could he have done it before losing consciousness?

"I threw a sleeping gas to stall but then a barrier came up seconds later. The gas is really potent so it worked anyway." Quincy said proudly.

Laurel reluctantly accepted that she’d have to wait for Thales to wake up before the barrier will get down. She’d commend him for protecting the carriages.

"How did you get me out then?"

"Well, I walked right through it." He smirked. "Barriers don’t work on me." As he spoke, he walked past the barrier and returned with a book.

Laurel was stunned to see that display. She remembered Ella saying something similar about Zeldris. People that magic didn’t affect existed? She wished she’s one of them.

She noticed the book Quincy held was the one Sorren had, he also got caught in this? A sigh left her. The book was pushed to her hands. "What should I use it for—"

Quincy sat on the ground and pushed her down besides him. "Teach me to read."

There was other ways to ask instead of being so rough but Laurel accepted her condition. The moment they reach Green Valleys, she’d be so busy that she wouldn’t have the time to do all these with him.

Maybe she’d pair him with Escanor as they both have unique hair color and fancy names. Escanor would match his energy and they can grow up together.

She felt like a mother just thinking about it.

The book wasn’t teaching material but she read out the passages and tried to teach him anything she could. The names felt interesting to read as well.

By evening, Laurel and Quincy heard a small groan from the carriage and went towards it. Someone stepped down.

Laurel left Quincy and rushed towards him, being careful not to hit the barrier. "Zeldris, can you pass through this? Are you guys okay in there?"

Zeldris could hear her but his eyes were not yet focused. What the hell had happened? It happened so fast and so strongly that he doubted it was the work of thieves.

"He doesn’t look hurt, don’t worry."

Zeldris opened his eyes to see a young girl in front of him. She tilted her head and patted his head. "You’re just feeling a little bit dizzy, that’s all."

Laurel blinked numerously. Was this Quincy’s plan? She had asked him what he hoped to do here and he said to seduce the Lycan Alpha here and make him leave.

It sounded funny but right in front of her now, Quincy had assumed a female’s demeanor and voice.

He had features that leaned towards the soft side but they still looked boyish so could switch up. Laurel didn’t know if Zeldris would fall for it but she knew anyone else might.

Zeldris just had a way of knowing males and females, to Laurel. After all, he had been blind before.

"I’m fine." Zeldris shoved her hand away from his head. "And who is she, Princess?" he asked Laurel.

Hearing him call Quincy ’she’, Laurel’s shoulders slump. Quincy suddenly began laughing in his normal tone, he slapped Zeldris playfully. "She? He called me she."

Laurel exhaled. It’d have been hard to act like Quincy was a she around her officials. Since his target were the lycans, then he’d probably act that way with only Sorren.

She didn’t care about his plan as it’d probably fail as that lycan Alpha was incapable of having feelings. He could maltreat his mate so loving a random girl would be hard.

Zeldris looked betrayed when he realized Quincy was male. He walked through the barrier with struggle. It wasn’t a weak one but it wasn’t meant to harm anyone.

"What caused all this?" he stared at Quincy as the culprit.

Quincy looked away and strolled back to Laurel. The Princess didn’t know how to explain but the sooner someone else understood all these craziness, the better.

She started from what Thales told her about a tribe to Quincy’s letter, even adding the flower part. She expected Quincy to react to it but he reacted to another.

"That tribe did die but the coloring on the fur remained." He pointed out. "My mother had deep red hue."

Laurel appreciated that contribution. She wasn’t all alone in it then. She nudged Zeldris. "His wolf is the same size as his crazy."

Her knight shook his head. That’d be big.
