Chapter 321: What He Came For
Chapter Three Hundred-Twenty-One – What He Came For
Zeno’s eyes became clear and he focused his gaze on the figure with a familiar scent. In realizing it was Alpha Stefan, he became more conscious.
That wasn’t who expected to find that morning, and it’s not very suitable for an Alpha like him to be seen in such light.
"Finally I met somebody." Zeno’s voice was clear, and he left the rock. He tied a rope over the cloak, keeping it in place. "I saw that they were three packs around so I didn’t know which one would have Princess Laurel and Sorren."
He looked at his right and narrowed his eyes.
Stefan frowned. Why did he want to see those two? He spun around towards High Mountains. "Follow me."
Zeno obeyed, he made eye contact with the leader of his wolves. Slowly the red in their eyes vanished and the wolves sped off, acting naturally.
Stefan had noticed that and kept his senses alert. What he saw was Zeno making eye contact and the wolves leaving. He might’ve really placed himself as their leader.
Zeno looked at his right again, before continuing behind Stefan. "That pack, was it amongst the ones you had conquered?"
Stefan turned to where he looked. Silent River Pack. He thought of how he should respond. "It was conquered but I sold it off to someone who had a debt of ownership."
Zeno raised a brow. Debt of ownership? "You know, that belonged to an Alpha who had a line of lycan hunters?"
It sounded more like a statement than a question but Stefan had already known that. That Alpha died along with his family, but something still bugged Stefan.
He didn’t remember any son of the Alpha being killed even if it’s said that the Alpha had a son.
Another thing was there’s nothing about the son, apart that the Alpha had a son, he wasn’t called an heir to the pack or any other respectable title so Stefan wanted to believe that he’s dead or too insignificant to bother him.
"The line of lycan hunters are gone so there’s nothing to bother about. The new owner of the pack is a Damancas citizen and easier to speak to." Stefan assured.
Zeno had his reservations, or probably because whether or not the lycan hunters were there, the lycan hunting training ground was still in the pack.
It just had a new owner but it could start again if something prompted the new owner to such level.
"Care to tell me what you came here for?" Stefan questioned. He moved by Zeno’s right so he’d stop being distracted by Silent River. "And those wolves?"
Zeno looked away. He didn’t know how to tell a pureblood lycan that he was bred and had magic by Lunaria’s design.
Not that he was ashamed of the little streams of werewolf blood in his veins but the idea of bred lycans were derogatory. Prince Sorren had taken it well.
"The Princess Laurel is a conquered Princess, right? But you treat her well, don’t you?"
Stefan didn’t appreciate his worry for his mate, for known reasons. He answered honestly. "I treat her as well as I can. Do you know her personally?"
Zeno began to guess that the Princess and Prince Sorren might not have told Alpha Stefan of his connection to the incident that happened at the Lycan Packs Meeting.
He understood the Princess not caring about what happened to a Lycan Kingdom, but didn’t Prince Sorren seek to find favor with the King by telling on him?
He didn’t even tell his own older brother.
"I met her at the Lycan Packs Meeting and we bonded over the respect of her mother." He stated flatly.
Stefan stopped walking and Zeno stopped as well. The two stared at each other, Zeno with a slight smile. Stefan continued moving and Zeno followed again.
Stefan asked a lot of questions in his head. When the hell did Laurel have the time to make all these connections when he looked her way every two minutes?
Sorren had been with her all through, so why didn’t he tell him that someone had ’bonded’ with Laurel?
That’s a place full of Lycans so no one would’ve bonded with her, this Zeno would be a special encounter.
And bonded with the respect of her mother? Wasn’t it the same mother she detested? If Zeno had helped find reasons to love her mother again, that’d mean a lot to her.
They reached High Mountains pack and the warriors’ eyes followed the red eyed lycan that walked into the pack with the Alpha. He looked really foreign.
Stefan led him to Sorren’s quarters but gestured for him to seat at the balcony were a small soft couch positioned. "I’d serve you..." he trailed off.
He realized he didn’t know anything about how Sorren served tea or anything about cooking. He’d starve if he tried to depend on the house to awaken and feed him.
"What did you want to speak about—"
"Not with you." Zeno deadpanned, his eyes moved around his environment. He couldn’t catch any other familiar scent nearby. "Isn’t Prince Sorren here?"
Stefan felt annoyed. This Zeno was treating him the same way he had treated him back at the Lycan Packs Meeting, like he didn’t worth his time. "You’d have to tell me first."
With Stefan’s tone, Zeno left were he sat. Who he came for wasn’t in sight so he might check the other pack covered in green grasses. It might be the Green Valleys’ since this place seemed to have many Lycans and werewolves lived together.
"With due respect," he waved his hand dismissively in the air. "I have freedom of movement. You aren’t obligated to host me so I can move out if I desired."
Stefan calm down quickly. He still hadn’t asked what the deal with the red eyed creatures were about.
"Alright. Do aa you please."
Stefan mentally face palmed. His brain and lips did different things when it came down to people he didn’t like.
Zeno appreciated the quickness of his release and sped out of the pack. That was a short visit. He planned to visit this new owner of Silent River Pack.
This new owner should be nothing like the former owner.
