Chapter 319: Her Origin

Chapter Three Hundred-Nineteen – Her Origin

Laurel had been wondering when her father’s kingdom-destroyer’s genetics would catch up on her. Could it be her father came from a line of Kingdom Destroyers?

She remembered the descendants that Thales spoke of, and nudged him. Surely that might explain why her father had such monstrous power levels, wouldn’t it?

It might also be a pointer to how she could unlock hers.

"Don’t you have something to say to me?" she glanced at Nero behind them. "I don’t think he can hear us."

Thales kept his eyes on the Princess as he wondered what that’d be. He had visited Damancas and got another information from his old informant.

The new information had been the only thing on his mind and he needed to speak to Sorren about it quickly. That’s why he came straight to the King to ask for their return.

But his mind refreshed and he remembered a similar case to that one. "About your descendants, isn’t it?"

Laurel frowned. How could he forget it? Shouldn’t it be something of great importance that he wanted to find out?

"You have a unique fur color." Thales started. "I saw it in a book that some tribe of wolves had such. Ranging from blue hue, purple hue, red hue and yellow hue. I don’t know if it had ranks but they had special properties."

Laurel immediately got invested, Elma as well, when blue hue was mentioned. So they had been others like them? And even a whole tribe?

She believed it because her grandfather who founded Green Valleys’ Kingdom had been said to have travelled from a distant land to come to where he built his kingdom.

Laurel never cared for their origin but she did now. Maybe there’s a family or tribe somewhere that she had.

"But they died out about two hundred years ago. They intermarried so the hues still affect some new offspring but without the special properties."

It felt like the sun had dimmed down in Laurel’s eyes. Just when she thought she had found kindred, they’re already dead. Then her wolf’s hue will probably be results of the bloodline and nothing special.

"Any other thing?" she asked, clinging to a last hope. "And how could you tell that I’d be related to them?"

Surely he hadn’t seen her wolf running about and thought, I’d go research about blue hued wolves.

Thales folded his arms, thinking of what else he had learnt about the tribe. The book had been submitted to Damancas library by Green Valleys’ Kingdom.

Damancas prided themselves in knowledge so when they had alliance with Green Valleys, King Titus had been so kind to send old books to them.

"The book was written by Afficus. Afficus was a librarian at your grandfather’s court years back, so I was told. About how I knew you were involved..." Thales hesitated.

He heard about it from some officials when he visited Green Valleys’ years ago. Some elders had randomly said that the cursed Princess’ wolf had a blue hue.

Thales didn’t want to tell Laurel that it’s probably why she was said to be cursed by the people of Green Valleys.

And since Laurel probably didn’t noticed the strange hue till recently, it’d not make sense to her.

"Well, let’s say it’s a secret." He decided not to let her know. "But it’s an amazing fact about your origin, right?"

Laurel thought so but with the story not complete she didn’t appreciate knowing a little bit. The Moon Goddess really created different types of wolves.

"So what’s the special properties they had? And does it involves monstrous strength or anything? My father didn’t have a hue but his strength seemed special."

She couldn’t think of anything special she had too, so she only had the hue but nothing to show for it.

Her father’s wolf was said to be huge and black. Definitely not a hue of any color.

"It wasn’t specified but since it’s special, I don’t think strength would be one of them." Thales replied. "All werewolves had strength."

Her father had been an Alpha King so should it be weird that his strength seemed unbelievable? "You have no gifts, right? Something that might feel like... magic."

Laurel’s eyes widened. When he worded it like that, she could actually think of something. Memory recollection.

Thales noticed her face lit up and smirked. "That’s right. You know in genetics, sometimes, the hue and special properties could both be present in an offspring."

Laurel snapped her head to him. So she was a rare case of the both features being present? She’d never felt so special. "And I am the only one with a hue you’ve seen?"

Thales couldn’t quite answer it. He’d seen a young man with a hue that reflected yellow under the sun and gold under the moon light. But he was from the West.

These tribe had remarried so there’s no telling where their offspring will pop out from but from Afficus’ note, it seemed King Titus’ grandfather would be a direct bloodline.

"I did but there was no special properties with him and he didn’t feel his hue was weird. They’re brown furs, you know." Thales said to brush it off.

Laurel nodded in understanding. Her blue fur would look more unnatural. She connected to Elma. "See, we’re more special than we think. We’re a rare phenomenon."

While her wolf appreciated it, having monstrous strength would have been so much better.

Thales cleared his throat and the Princess turned to him expectedly. "This is totally unrelated to you but, the young Delta of Black Claws, have you seen him shift to his wolf?"

Laurel’s expectations faded.

"Many lycans don’t shift because they look monstrous, right? But he’s pretty strong without shifting." She noted.

She wondered if Sigma could he related to the tribe she came from, after all he had monstrous strength as well. "It’s not related to me?" she asked to be sure.

Thales forced a smile. "Definitely."

While the Princess’ story involved two hundred years ago, what Thales thought connected to Sigma must be a recent tale.

His weird flow of magic pointed to a tragedy that happened but the thing was, he shouldn’t have been alive.

Sorren knew the boy better so Thales planned to get to the bottom of it from him.

The information might even cast a promising light on the issues with the King of Lycans. It might.
