Chapter 317: His Weakness

Chapter Three Hundred-Seventeen – His Weakness

Asher found it amusing when Laurel stuck by Thales’ side. She’d been locking herself in her room all the time but the moment she knew he came, she snuck out.

He had mind linked Nero to let her leave and he expected her to follow him, that was the reason he came around her room in the first place.

Truthfully, he got bored after Slime left and the attack at his lab dampened his mood, so he hadn’t played with the Princess as planned.

Then the threat from Lunaria came, further making him busy, so he planned to either keep the princess close till he’s bored or send her back and make her return later.

He looked at the notices on his table and saw one from Black Claws Pack. He picked it up. "You people really dote on your Princess. That’s why she’s so spoilt."

He guessed the letter from Black Claws would be about releasing the Princess but it took a rather annoying turn.

Hearing someone call her spoilt made Laurel oddly grateful, did she really look like a spoilt Princess?

After all she had to endure in her eighteen years of living? Thank Moon Goddess. "What is it, King Asher?" she noticed the King read a Black Claws letter and fell quiet.

"Of all people, the one that makes me uncomfortable will be coming." Asher squeezed the letter and tossed it. "You may as well pack your things and meet him at the gate."

Laurel pinched herself. Was she dreaming? They existed someone the King detest to this level at Black Claws? The person even made the King uncomfortable?

She let her seat. "Prince Sorren is on his way here?" It could only be that creature who hold such great power.

Asher faked a shudder. "That lady-man. Probably here for you so kindly meet him at the gate. I don’t need to host him."

Laurel shook her head. Sorren might not only be coming for her, he might not even be coming for her at all.

The pending chaos about to be born would be his reason for taking the big step to travel so far. Sorren didn’t like these sort of things. "It’d be rude not to host your guest."

She had to make sure the King spoke to Sorren. That Prince might just say something the King would comply with. "I’d stay till Prince Sorren arrive. Or kick me out."

Thales raised a brow. He couldn’t understand why the Princess suddenly wanted to stay when she finally had the chance to leave, but he went along with it.

Sorren wouldn’t have come here to play hero for the Princess, and since the King seemed to avoid him, he might actually hold a part of the King’s weakness.

Before the Beta left, Thales had been told by his maidens of the young Beta’s plan to scar the King with the emerald scepter and realization that Thales was a Grand Witch.

However, it obviously didn’t last long. He only succeeded with an initial shock. Thales would’ve told him to drop the plan if he knew about it beforehand.

The King had few things he feared, but he could feel shock or limited tension for a while. At Lady Zara’s quarters, her mission had been making him fear.

Since a particular night, she had never achieved it. She had never achieved getting even a close semblance to what King Asher had on his face that starry night.

That might probably be why nothing she did fazed him, she couldn’t scare him more than that ever again. And he’d probably grown an resistance to that type of fear.

The King left the study after his mood had been completely sullen by news of Sorren’s arrival.

Laurel used the chance to lie to Nero, she lied that the King let her temporarily walk out of the Kingdom with him as her bodyguard.

Nero had been sleepless since his sister got beaten by the King and he still struggled with bits of resentment he had for Asher.

So he didn’t bother to check with the King and followed Laurel to the exit. He noticed Thales with her, and stayed at their backs, leaving them to walk in front.

"You really have your ways." Thales said as she saw Nero with her when the King didn’t authorize it.

Laurel shrugged. She heard Nene got into trouble after her last escape but she didn’t care. They were horrible people who had killed innocents. She’d be their karma.

If Nero gets punished too then fine. Saki would probably be the next person to be sent to watch her and she could work it out with her. That’s if she stayed for long.

"That reminds me, there’s a witch here named Saki and she serves King Asher and wants to call it quits, but she’s scared." Laurel whispered to Thales. "Will you help her?"

Thales didn’t quite understand the question.

"She should call it quits then. Run away. Or is she trapped in there with you?"

Laurel looked down. Truly, Saki could just escape. She had teleportation magic and could be miles away before the King find out. It’s not like he actively needed her help.

"I don’t know why she can’t leave but she seriously can’t. She worked as an assassin under Fang before she met the King." Laurel said what she knew about her.

Thales nodded. That part made sense. "She’s not a free witch and had already been shackled by an assassin group. If she leaves, she’d be hunted."

So that’s how it was? Laurel sighed.

Fang might be her family but it’s also her prison. Shouldn’t she be planning to leave Fang as well? "She seems to only want to leave the King."

"She might not be able to. The King must’ve agreed with Fang that she’d work for him. Any breech and Fang will punish her for insulting the agreement." Thales explained.

All Saki’s work place sounded rough, Laurel thought. She caught a familiar scent and before she reacted to it, Thales pulled her to another road.

She remembered that he had said he didn’t want any one from Lady Zara’s household to see him, especially Lady Zara herself. "What’s she doing outside in the morning?"

Weren’t ladies supposed to sleep in late for beauty skin?
