Chapter 302: His Life

Chapter Three Hundred-Two – His Life

Bebe turned to the young Beta, and as usual he seemed very relaxed. She turned to Zeldris and couldn’t quite tell what went on his head.

She reckoned he’d be panicked since the Princess had to stay with King Asher, but Bebe felt like she’d be fine.

She had watch the Princess put the King in place for another’s sake so she could do more for her own sake.

The only problem laid on when the King will release the Princess, and what to do since the King’s disturbing drugs weren’t completely destroyed.

With the first attack, he’d be very careful and that meant they couldn’t act rashly.

Thales had gone to the lab himself to inspect and figured out late that they were other storage rooms, and as Thales said the Princess once worried, those dark unlabeled rooms had tons of contents inside.

The storage room that got destroyed would be newly finished drugs, but those drugs could be remade easily by concocting with the old ones.

It wouldn’t take long for the King to have a dangerous supply of harmful drugs. Bebe’s thoughts paused when she caught the Princess’s scent.

All eyes went to the door as Laurel appeared behind it, their eyes stopped at the clothes on her body. The Princess felt like melting in embarrassment.

It would be obvious whose cloth that was and it’d make other possible scenarios fill one’s head.

Thales broke the silence, asking honestly since he remembered taking her belongings to the inn he lodged and worrying about it later. "How did you get a dress?"

Bebe snapped her head to him angrily. Did he have to rub it in to make the Princess more flustered? She left where she at and came around the Princess.

"You look better in it that he’d have." Bebe said. Zeldris frowned when she said that but understood that she tried to make the Princess happy.

He also agreed, the design of the dress always highlighted an enticing aura in its wearer.

But Laurel didn’t need those words, she didn’t care to look better in the clothes at all. She shrugged, entering the door. "The King doesn’t speak like he’d let me go soon."

She had to return to Green Valleys as soon as she could, for the sake of Rolling Stones pack too. She couldn’t find any reason whatsoever to stay here.

"We can always escape but it might cause problems in the future." Thales noted.

Zeldris shuddered at the thought of the crazy King trying to behead Princess Laurel for escaping from him. They might be no limit to his craziness.

Laurel sat down between the Beta and Zeldris. "Actually, there had been one of his loyalists that attacked me but after everything, he didn’t speak of it."

She glanced at each of them for a reaction but only Thales and the Beta had annoyed expressions, the rest wore slight disbelief and worry on their faces.

Laurel noticed that the Beta had none of his maidens with him. She calculated that he left them to guard the inn that they stayed at.

This was also good so that the King wouldn’t try trading them for anything. Laurel smiled, she didn’t think he would look out for his servants.

"Don’t worry, the girl hadn’t been a challenge. I’m only stunned that I nearly killed her yet the King didn’t speak of it with me." Laurel shrugged. "Shows how much he cared."

Zeldris exhaled when the Princess pointed out that it ended up in her victory even if she’d been merciful.

He longed to see the Princess fighting seriously. Even if they had met when fighting, he couldn’t see her.

"The loyalists care for him." Thales said. "It didn’t mean he’d care for them. That’s just how he is and why Lady Zara can never put up with him."

Laurel’s eyes perked up on hearing about the lady. She looked around the waiting room they sat in.

They should be waiting for the King but Laurel knew he wouldn’t be showing up soon. She sat at the door so she’d catch his scent immediately if he did.

"Nero seems to know you Thales. Tell me, what kind of life did you live here?" Laurel raised a brow. "You even know a high ranking official like Delta Zara."

A Lycan Delta? Bebe and Zeldris stared at Thales with curiosity. The witch sighed, rubbing his head as he realized that he had to narrate his part of the story.

But he had no way to hide the business he had with Lunaria. The lycans he gave them weren’t innocent lycans but ones who’d been plundering Lunaria for a while.

Still, giving lycans to Lunaria when he knew what they could be used for sounded mean and he didn’t want the Princess thinking wrongly on him.

He narrated how he served as a servant at the Beta’s household and got promoted as a Head Servant at Lady Zara’s quarters. They both knew he was werewolf.

A situation made him reveal being a witch as Lady Zara needed one. She always thought he was a common one.

He ended by saying he’d not like anyone from the Beta’s household seeing him or they’d think he lied when he said he’d be returning to his hometown.

His narration seemed plausible to Laurel but she couldn’t help but wonder what made Lady Zara seek help from a witch despite being a lycan and official.

"Does the King know that you have a connection with Lady Zara?" Laurel asked. It could put her in trouble.

Thales inhaled sharply then exhaled. The situation was even worse but he didn’t know how to word it that wouldn’t blow the Princess’ head off.

"Actually, before I left, I had a confrontation with King Asher and Nero." He pointed a scar on his head. "The King had stabbed me here. Of course, he didn’t know I was a Grand Witch but he was excited that I had magic."

He turned to Zeldris. "You have magic residue in you. You should never let him know that or his interest in you will multiply and you might just get kidnapped."

There was silence in the room.
