Chapter 266: Befriending
Chapter Two Hundred-Sixty-Six – Befriending
Escanor retrieved his hand, holding it to his chest. Now what did he do wrong to get glared at by Zeldris?
He tried taking Bebe away but his hand was slapped away again. Shouldn’t he train her?
"Girls don’t like it when you touch them." Zeldris said as matter of fact. "So keep the hands to yourself... again!"
Bebe made a small smile, quite enjoying the scenario she translated as two handsome men fighting for her attention.
But Escanor was only confused and growing annoyed. He couldn’t touch the person he’s to train? How exactly will the training happen?
"Well, you’re the same rank as me so you can train her yourself, right?" Escanor gestured towards Bebe.
Bebe pouted a little. Was one of her admirers giving up on her already? She frowned at Zeldris who rolled his eyes. "So you’d be the one to protect the Princess?"
Escanor quickly agreed, much to Zeldris’s anticipation. He clicked his tongue, then patted Bebe’s head. "Don’t be mean to her or the Princess will eat you alive."
The Delta watched as the hypocrite walked away, didn’t he just touch the girl’s head? He gestured for Bebe to follow him back inside the training room again.
Zeldris paused, and watched them. Seeing that the Delta didn’t still touch Bebe made him nod and he strolled back to Valkyrie’s quarters.
He fell face down besides the Princess who sat on a mat on the ground, while making smaller mats. "That young Beta is a hassle. Escanor will be training Bebe."
Laurel hummed, but kept the majority of her concentration on what she did. She reached for a pin and Zeldris brought one to her. "Thanks."
"Why do you send them there though? First Escanor and now, Bebe. I’m bored here, you know." He rolled to his side, watching her.
Laurel’s hands slightly shivered as she heard her knight speak of being bored, that meant that soon, he’d take out that frustration on her poor ears.
"Beta Ferdinand is currently the highest ranked official at Green Valleys. He’s proficient at sword play, he and his servants. It’s a good training environment." She explained.
Zeldris grumbled inaudibly. He knew that part already. He left where he sat and faced her. "How about you said me on a random errand to him?"
The ’him’ will be Sorren, and Laurel wasn’t ready for him to spill that part yet, especially as Bebe hadn’t been fully healed from whatever.
Sorren wasn’t trusting and could assume that he made it up as a spy to the Witch. With Zeldris having actual connection to the witch, it’s best to play safe.
"You know I can’t send you there, if Sorren decides to kill you who is the only witness to him having a witch’s—"
"Is he that bad?" Zeldris got alarmed.
He grew pale when Laurel stopped what she did, and looked him straight in the eyes as she nodded. "Worse."
Bebe really swam in the river of denial if she didn’t see this, but Zeldris didn’t see those from the Prince he saw.
"You must’ve seen all these dirty parts of him on special occasions, so he had no one he treasured?" Zeldris’ shoulders fell. "And I thought I could be his favorite."
Laurel chuckled softly. Deep down, she knew Zeldris would readily throw himself at Sorren’s feet as his last blood relation, but that’d mean slavery to Sorren.
That one was good at holding others on a chokehold, Lia was a former victim and might be a victim again if Sorren thought of playing with her.
"You might want to get close to Delta Sigma, he’s the treasured child and younger brother of Prince Sorren." Laurel informed. "Sorren sees red when the boy’s hurt."
Despite the jealousy on his face, Laurel could see Zeldris devising some plans to get Sigma’s attention, which wouldn’t be hard to do if he played his card well.
Sigma was single-minded and didn’t discriminate wolves.
"His birthday is coming soon and you already garnered favorite with that Warrior Dylan, I’d see how I’d use that."
Laurel shrugged as reply to Zeldris. Dylan was another wolf that was close to Sorren, but he might not be as easy as Sigma to befriend.
Zeldris rolled out of the door and stood to his feet, he dusted himself before bouncing towards the Delta’s quarters, the Warrior Dylan might be in there.
The guards narrowed their eyes at him, before letting him pass. He exhaled, thankful that they didn’t specifically ask what he had come for, because he didn’t know.
He reached the door and knocked gently, a sick lycan was in there so he should show some restraint.
"Come in and get this."
Zeldris inclined his ears to hear what was said. He knocked again and the same voice spoke softly.
He opened the door and saw the Delta, his arms were still bandaged but his face was smooth and without bruise, Zeldris felt like a medicinal ointment must’ve been used.
The Knight’s eyes trailed to the cup the Delta reached for, while comfortably seated on his bed. Zeldris brought the cup close to him and heard him mouth a ’thank you.’
His energy was weak, and if a strong warrior ranked werewolf wolf come to finish him off, they’d have good chances.
But with the current situation, Zeldris stopped thinking of trying to finish off the lycan but on how to befriend him.
"Do you feel better? You’ve been hard to see." Zeldris spoke in an informal tone, with a bright smile.
Sigma stared at him, confused but didn’t mind the stranger, he never seen him before but he seemed nice.
"Do you know what happened? Dylan doesn’t tell me anything, he says till I fully recover." Sigma dropped the cup on the bedside.
Zeldris thought hard before exhaling. "I only know what the Princess knows, but you were attacked by impulsive witches. Don’t worry, the Alpha killed them all."
Sigma froze, trying to take in how complex the opponents were and how quickly they were defeated.
A lot of things had really happened while he laid in bed.
