Her Vengeful Lycan Alpha -
Chapter 163: To Help
Chapter 163: To Help
Chapter Hundred-Sixty-Three – To Help
Darren watched the wolf tear through four goats at the same time, biting their limbs off and mounting on them, not like food, but as an opponent.
"This drug will breed massacres."
If it was this potent for natural wolves, then if a werewolf or lycan took it, it’d be really bad. They’d lose themselves and wouldn’t even recognize friend from foe.
It’d be the worst in a crowded place, and worse, it’s easy to transmit. Just capture an unsuspecting person and inject them, then move far away before the drug kicked in.
The King knew what he was doing, and worse, the effects were still hazardous enough if shared between numerous wolves. It wouldn’t be murder, but hunt.
Darren had heard of the King’s experiments, but if this was what they were, then they should be stopped at all cost. He had to tell werewolf packs around High Moon.
They’d be the first victims, because the King definitely wouldn’t use it on lycans.
Even if he infected a lycan, his goal will still be to destroy a werewolf pack.
"What’s that King thinking? Another war?" Darren clicked his tongue. The drug must’ve heightened speed, agility and blood lust, as he saw in the wolf.
The wolf didn’t rend through the goats as prey but as a fellow predator, as if the goats fought back. They didn’t.
Darren guessed it viewed everything as a threat, because goats far away were still attacked when if they didn’t dare attack the raging wolf in their midst.
Would it be enough to just kill it? He needed to make awareness and how else than for the Alphas to see it themselves?
Darren threw his sword down, rushing back into his mansion to get his mace. "I’m sorry, wolf, but you might be in your torment a little longer."
He found Ella in his weaponry and grabbed both she and a smoothened mace, running out again. "Ella, please, use your barrier to stop the wolf if I didn’t get it on time, okay?"
The girl looked around, searching for the wolf, and her face instantly folded when she saw the gruesome menace. "Y-Yes! I’d do so!" she’s always happy to use her magic.
Darren ran towards the wolf, wanting to be identified as threat. The wolf swerved towards him, ignoring the last goat that already passed out due to fright and trauma.
The wolf snarled, assuming a more attack stance than before. Darren understood that he could rank threats.
As the wolf tried head diving at him, he threw down the mace on its head with a force great enough to knock it down.
But the wolf dodged, coming at him from the back. Darren cursed, jumping back and having to run a while before finally swinging the mace on the wolf’s head.
The wolf blacked out but still stood on it’s limbs, small growls left it as it resisted defeat. Darren slapped it down again and it collapsed, a trickle of blood left its head.
Darren panted lightly, falling by the wolf and wiping the blood off it. "Don’t worry, it won’t be long before—"
But he noticed the wolf actually passed out, and it felt like he was just under stress. His body wasn’t unusually hot, like the bird’s, and his anger was being quelled.
"Could it be temporary... no, the wolf’s body adjusted to it. The drug was really meant for wolf species. The bird was a wrong fit." Darren realized.
He wondered if it meant the wolf wasn’t in pain and it could stay much longer, but he knew the dangers were high because it couldn’t be controlled.
Such bloodlust couldn’t be controlled, especially by a creature not as intelligent, like werewolves or lycans.
He turned to Ella, who was pouting. He smiled. "Sorry that you weren’t able to help but if I think of it, you need control too. You’d have killed the wolf with your great output."
Ella looked at her hand, with a saddened gaze.
Darren picked the wolf and walked to her. "Don’t worry, we are going to Damancas again."
He needed to report the wolf to them, and they can find a teacher to teach Ella how to regulate her barrier magic.
With the lycan knowing she existed, even if his memory wasn’t active, it puts Ella in risk. She should return to Silent River before her identity gets further exposed.
Ella didn’t look thrilled to go to Damancas as it’d mean she’d stay there, learning, alone, without her friends or Darren, but she wanted to help, so she’d go and learn.
She looked back and saw the old man packing the meats and scattered parts of the mutilated goats. Some servants ran to him, froze, then helped him pack the pieces.
"I forgot," Darren sighed, looking at Ella, "Animals that dies under stress don’t taste really good."
Ella chuckled, not believing him. "Is that why you pet the chicken before killing them? They aren’t that stupid."
Darren smiled, walking into the house. "Go and pack your things then. Don’t worry, I’d make sure you won’t stay so long there."
Ella took out a pinky finger. "Promise?"
Darren still didn’t know what crossing the pinky finger did, but he held out his for her to hold. "Hmm, promise."
The girl hopped away, to her room.
He went to Frida’s room, but found it open and she wasn’t in there. He shook his head. That one was either out, making rogues allies or causing trouble for lycans.
He had no problem with the last one, except she was currently under the guise of his servant and teacher. If she got caught, he’d have to explain.
And with how fed up he was becoming of her, due to her involvement in the Green Valleys’ warriors death, he might blame all her atrocities on her and leave her to die.
Her importance was as the Beta’s heir but if she wasn’t interested, and her brother already replaced her, then he had no need to put up with her bad habits.
