Chapter 140: From Privies to Paradise
Zack walked up behind the young man and leaned down. "Young man, you will have your very own bed in a room that you will share with your middle brother Eli, he will stay in Constantine’s room in a crib. You will have your own kitchen so that Constantine can cook for you and you will have your own bathroom inside the house with a toilet that flushes—no more privies on the outside that have to be cleaned and shared with others."
Zach was surprised when Richie turned around and hugged his neck and thanked him. "Now when can we go home? I want to see this new place."
"It won’t be long. One shall go over to that big cooler over there and open the top of it and there’s a drink in there—get you one each, you don’t have to share. Plus, you’re about the same age as my grandson Willie and I believe that you are going to be best buds."
Zack stood beside Constantine. "Looks like the resemblance is close on all of you boys. Did your dad make sure that he was taken care of by the same breeder every time?"
"Yes, he said he didn’t have much control in life, but all his boys would have the same father. I don’t know who it was but he had to be a blonde for the red to take over and because Rusty has strawberry blonde hair."
Constantine looked thoughtful as Zack continued. "We will put the word out and your Dad will be notified where you are at and that he is always welcome to come back to your life if that’s what you want. I don’t know what happened and why he left you in charge other than you are of age and you are strong, but if you don’t want them there I understand that too—that’s up to you."
"Mr. Zack, can I have a little while to think about it? I really want to get the boys settled and me also because we’ve never had anything in life. I think a little normal is what we need." Correct content is on freew.ebno(v)e\l.(c)om.
"Well, you’ll be living right next to Chas, his dad Donnie and his son Xavier, then there’s Stephen their roommate and his mate Dr. Clark Wooten. He’s heading up our new OBGYN practice there at the Z1 and yes, he’s human living with the Genmen mate who’s expecting by the way." fre.eweb(n)ovel\.c om
Zach left Ty in charge and they boarded the bus and headed toward the Z1. The two youngest boys were exhausted but Richie—he was bouncing all over Constantine, asking the world-famous question: "Are we there yet? How much longer is it going to be? Are we there yet?"
The bus finally pulled up at the Z1 and Zack stepped off the bus leading Constantine who was holding Rusty and the two little ones were clinging on to Zach’s legs. Zack walked over to the buggy, put them in his buggy and told Constantine to crawl in the back with the baby.
The boys thought they were big stuff riding in the owner’s buggy. None of them could believe the house when Zack pulled up in front. It was just nothing special—a two-bedroom cottage on the Z1—but to them it might as well have been the mansion. Because to them it was a mansion, their very own mansion.
Robbie was standing by with a set of keys and handed them to his father-in-law. The boys really clung to Zach when they saw Robbie’s size. Zach bent down and told the boys to go in and there were two doors—the door to the left was theirs. They raced each other to the room.
Richie opened the door and stood there gawking as his little brother walked in. Eli turned around. "You can have either bed you want—I don’t care as long as I get one."
The two boys chose their beds and were sitting on them. Eli noticed that he was dirty so he eased off the bed and dusted it off where he had been seated.
Zack walked in and looked around and saw the boys standing afraid to touch anything because they were quite dirty. "Well looks like you two need to bathe and clean clothes. I tell you what, I’ll get you some night shirts to sleep in and you go take a bath then come and play, but tomorrow morning when I come to get you two boys we are going to purchase some new clothing."
"It doesn’t have to be new—they can be used, I don’t care," Richie piped up. "We’ve always made do with whatever we got handed to us. Daddy didn’t have any money; he was too busy popping out babies for the master."
Zack put two and two together. Their dad never went anywhere to be bred—they all belonged to the same father, the ex-owner of the old ranch. No wonder when he got a chance, he ran leaving everything behind because he knew they would never be treated right by the POS. He left his bad memories when he left his children behind.
These four would take some time to break out of their cycle of mental trauma, especially Constantine because he knew deep-down who his father was.
"You just coming off your cycle and you still smell," Zack cautioned Constantine. "If any of the Genman here give you a hard time or try to get next to you or bother you, tell them that Mr. Zach said you were off limits to everyone and if they did anything out of line to you he would have the Royal treatment ready for them. And they know exactly what that means so I don’t suspect any of them will step over that line—you tell them that they’ll be perfect gentlemen after that."
Constantine took everything in stride, made mental notes of everything that Mr. Zach told him. He was amazed at the cottage and what it had to offer his family. There was a knock at the door, and Richie ran to the door to answer it. When he answered the door, Donnie was standing there with a big plate of food ready for them.
"Well it looks like the welcoming committee has arrived," Zack laughed. "So, I’ll let you deal with them—there also your next-door neighbors and they’ll watch after the boys when you’re away. There’s always somebody home. You already know Chas and you will get to know Xavier his son and then there’s his future mate Roger."
Constantine thanked Mr. Zack for everything that he had done for the family and especially for Ben, how kind he was and professional. Zach turned, got in his buggy and drove off back to the main house.
Donnie, Chas and Stephen helped set the table for Constantine and his brothers. Rusty was asleep as most babies are but Richie and Eli were digging into some grub. Richie started talking with his mouth full of food when Constantine snapped his finger and called him down for his bad manners. Richie swallowed his food and apologized to everyone for his bad manners.
"It was just that he had never had food that tasted like this," he explained. He was amazed that there was so much of it and they were allowed to eat, not having to eat just a little bit and saving the rest for the next couple of days’ worth of meals.
"Well wait until tomorrow morning when you get up, shower and clean yourself from head to toe—every piece of your body must be scrubbed clean especially behind your ears, young man," Donnie laughed. "You just come next-door and I’ll be cooking breakfast. During the week we’re up early cooking for everyone else at the construction office, the warehouse and other locations on the farm for the workers, but tomorrow morning is all about you boys. And that means all of you need to show up Constantine—nobody denies me the right to feed other Genmen."
Constantine swallowed his food and responded. "Yes, Sir, we will all be there. We will all have our best clothes on that we have until we can go get some new stuff that Mr. Zach was talking about, but I don’t know how we can afford it—we have no money."
"That’s okay, don’t worry about it. Mr. Zack has that taken care of. As soon as we get through with breakfast, you’re taking a trip into town to Miss Sonia’s boutique and she’ll have every one of you cleaned up, hair trimmed and some clothes that fit, and that are fitting of you."
Richie could hardly wait until tomorrow morning that way he could see what a real breakfast looked like—no more of Constantine’s mash for breakfast that was a savior within its own.
The boys said their goodbyes and went home. Their heads had hardly hit their pillows when Eli and Richard were both sound asleep in their own beds for once in their life.
Constantine was exhausted so he laid Rusty down in his brand-new crib and he curled up on his bed. For the very first time in his life he wasn’t sleeping on the floor on a blanket.
