Chapter 134: A Little Crowded But Nobody’s Leaving

Chapter 134: A Little Crowded But Nobody’s Leaving

Chas could not believe his ears—the owner who was human was also a lover of Genmen and helped them every way he could.

"Well, I will leave you two here and I’m going back out to talk to Stephen and Clark. Just don’t forget to call me for lunch because I want to see what the two of you come up with today. And by the way, Donnie, great decision. I’ll talk to Robbie and Ben and we’ll see what we can do about alleviating some of the crowding that’s here in the house. Who knows, we might even get an add-on for the place."

"If the boys at the dorm really knew Mr. Zack for the person that he is, they would definitely change their minds," Chas observed quietly. "Some are talking about leaving and trying to find another corporate ranch to take care of them."

"Don’t worry, Chas, I’ll have a talk with Mr. Zack and convey just what you said to him, and he can handle them so that they won’t be on edge and should relax here on the Z1 and the Hawthorne ranch."

---

Everyone in the living room was getting along just fine when Chas walked out and announced that lunch was ready for them to come on back and partake in the meal.

Donnie was very proud of Chas—he had just executed his first formal announcement perfectly.

When Stephen, Clark, and Zack entered the room, Donnie was making the final adjustments for the carryall on Chas so he could sit at the table with his son and be part of the family.

Zack looked at the table and remarked, "You two have outdone yourselves. This lunch is fit for the most discriminating palates in high society." Everyone was very pleased with the meal that had been served and prepared, even little Xavier was having himself a filler snack at the daddy bar.

Chas sat there and rocked his son at the table as he gently slept. Zack couldn’t help but remember Luther when he was at that age—he rocked him the same way, with love and affection.

Zack had thought about putting this off a little bit longer, but he needed to talk to Chas.

---

As they retired to the living room, Stephen sat on Clark’s lap with his arm wrapped around his neck, and Chas was sitting next to Donnie holding little Xavier.

"Chas, when people come here to live or even when we have breeders here, we take blood samples so that we can match the DNA against prospective breeders so that there’s no cross-breeding. After you had Xavier, Lex took a sample of the cord blood so that you and Xavier could be cross-matched against anyone that is here or that would be arriving soon to do a breeding cycle."

Zack paused, then continued carefully. "I have to inform you that we have a match for both of you."

"I don’t understand, Mr. Zack. What does that mean for me and my son?"

"It means, young man, that we found a parent. More specifically, it is your parent."

"Mr. Zack, I still don’t understand. How would one of my parents be here on the Z1, and which one? Because I have a family now—I’ve never had any parents, I’ve never had any kinship, but I’m happy here with Uncle Donnie and Uncle Stephen, and so is Xavier."

"Chas, understand, I realize this is a shock for you, but through DNA we have found your dad. He has no knowledge that you are here on this ranch. Like you, he went to the breeding program, and he ended up having three children who were removed from his care by the corporate breeder program. He’s never held you nor saw you until now in passing. In the corporate program, these atrocities happened all the time, and we’re trying to correct them."

"But he’s never seen or heard of me, but he knows I exist? Do I have to meet him? Does he have to be a part of our lives? Because I’m happy now—I’m happy with the family that I have."

Donnie took Chas’s hand in his and held it firmly. "Young man, I know that I have children—this is not my first child that I carry, but it’s the only one that I remember. If I could meet one of my other children and be a part of their lives, I’d do it in a heartbeat. Don’t doubt a parent’s love just because it was denied to them. Remember, we’re Genmen, we’re not humans, and we love totally different. A dad will do anything for their child."

"Uncle Donnie, I don’t want to lose you or Uncle Stephen. We’re just starting to make a life for ourselves, and now I’m afraid that I might lose both of you to someone I don’t know and never even liked."

Zack had let it go on long enough. "Donnie, can I ask you a question? Did you ever stop to think about Xavier the first time you saw him and he nursed from your glands? How it felt? And the first time you helped Chas and comforted him and how that felt to you? Did you feel anything?"

Donnie looked at Zack with a questionable expression. "What are you saying, Mr. Zack?"

Zack handed him a folded piece of paper and told him to open it up and read it.

---

Donnie scanned the paper until he came down to the percentages. Infant child Xavier 100% match dad - Chas, teenage adolescent Chas 100% match dad -- Donnie. Tears began to pour from his eyes and down his cheeks as he held the paper shaking. Chas took a look at the paper and read it. He didn’t understand it, but he read what he could.

Stephen walked over and took the paper from Donnie, and he read it aloud. The last sentence said it all: "In conclusion, this report is 100% accurate—all three are family members first, second, and third generation."

Stephen lost it and started shouting. "You know what this means? Do you know what this means, Donnie? Chas is your oldest son, and Xavier is your grandson. He’s not lost anymore—you have found one of your three missing children."

Chas looked at Donnie. "You mean you’re my dad? You’re not a nice man that was going to play uncle to me and my child, but you’re my dad?"

All Donnie could do was shake his head and cry as he took his son—his oldest son—in his arms and held him tight.

Clark looked at Zack. "Well, this explains why he was so protective over the young man and why he was acting the way he did, taking charge of everything. Deep down inside, he knew subconsciously that they were connected as birth dad and son."

Stephen hugged Donnie and Chas and told them that he loved them both and they didn’t have to go anywhere—they were home. Though it might be a little crowded, nobody was leaving this home at all. f|ree(w)ebn\o.vel.com

"Donnie, the meal was fantastic, and Chas, you’ve got a great teacher there in your dad. Take the next couple of days since we have a three-day weekend—Saturday, Sunday, and Monday—then on Tuesday, I expect my breakfast as usual like I have been spoiled by Donnie, but this time I want it delivered to me at the construction office. But first, you need to go take him to the crew and introduce him to the crew. Let them get a feel of him before you tell them who he is. A couple may get a little carried away, but I think the young man will be able to handle his own when it comes to others stepping out of line. He’s not had an easy life—just see how much he’s learned."

Donnie thanked Mr. Zack and bid him goodbye.

The next couple of days, dad and son got to know each other, as did the whole family. Clark and Stephen spent most of their time occupied in the bedroom, only coming out for a refreshment and a little nourishment when it was needed.
