Chapter 115: Side Story: Gavrius And Vaelrik’s First Date (Part 2)

Gavi’s suggestion was hesitant, but Vaelrik immediately agreed—actually, he was thrilled.

That kind of setting suited him much better.

Feeling a little embarrassed, he laughed and nodded, which made Gavi smile happily as well.

With that decided, Vaelrik chose to grab lunch from a takeout place.

He got sandwiches from a well-known shop, along with some fresh salad packed neatly into a basket, and drinks to go with it.

The lake sparkled in the sunlight, reflecting its brilliance, while a refreshing breeze danced across the surface.

"This feels amazing!"

Vaelrik stretched his arms wide, breathing in the crisp air.

Behind him, Gavi giggled at his enthusiasm.

Turning to face Gavi, Vaelrik quickly scanned the surroundings, checking to make sure they were alone.

"Uh, so... um... Let’s sit down first!"

"Huh? Oh, okay."

Vaelrik had wanted to be the one to take the lead, but he was so tense that it wasn’t going smoothly.

It was embarrassing.

Just as he was lowering his gaze, feeling flustered, Gavi gently touched his hand.

"Are you nervous?"

"Ah... Yeah."

"I am too," Gavi admitted. "This is my first time dating someone, so I don’t really know what to do."

The slight guilt in Gavi’s voice didn’t sit well with Vaelrik.

He didn’t want Gavi to feel bad about this.

Letting out a small laugh, he admitted, "I don’t know either."

"Really?"

"Yeah. This is my first time dating anyone too, so I have no idea what I’m doing. I’m sorry if it ends up being boring."

As he spoke, he reached out, running his fingers through Gavi’s hair.

As always, it was silky and soft to the touch—comforting in a way that made him want to keep his hand there.

Gavi let out a small, affectionate laugh as he leaned into Vaelrik.

"It’s not boring at all. Just being with you makes me happy."

He said it with a bright, unguarded smile.

Gavi, unaware of his own effect, was unknowingly stirring up a deep desire within Vaelrik.

Still, no matter how long they had known each other or how much they had played together as children, this was their first official date.

Keeping things proper seemed like the right course of action.

"Hey, Vael."

"Hm? What is it?"

"Did you tell your parents about us?"

"Yeah, I did."

At Gavi’s slight downturn in expression, Vaelrik grew anxious.

Do he think that his parents would opposed their relationship?

That possibility worried him.

He loved Gavi, and his own parents had already given their blessing.

But if Lord Gabriel or Sir Lysander disapproved, things wouldn’t be so simple.

As Vaelrik nervously waited, Gavi kept his gaze lowered and continued speaking.

"What... what did they say?"

"They said they support us. I also told them I won’t be inheriting the house and that I’ll be marrying into yours. Father and Mother were happy about it—they told me not to worry about the family matters."

"Really?!"

Gavi’s golden eyes sparkled as he looked up at Vaelrik, his face lighting up with joy.

His sudden shift in mood took Vaelrik by surprise, and all he could do was nod.

"I talked to my parents too," Gavi admitted. "Mother was overjoyed, but Father said that since this involves both families, it’s not something we can decide on our own. He said if Lord Ignatius and Sir Xinghui opposed it, then he couldn’t simply accept it without consideration."

"I see."

So that’s why he had seemed uncertain.

Vaelrik nodded his head in understanding, a smile spreading across his lips.

"But they were actually really welcoming. They even started asking when we’d hold the wedding, if we had any plans for children... things like that."

"Wait—what?!"

"It’s way too soon, right?"

As Vaelrik chuckled, Gavi, looking flustered, suddenly buried his face against Vaelrik’s chest.

The unexpected gesture sent Vaelrik’s heart racing.

"A wedding is... probably too soon. But... I want to be with you, Vael. Always."

"Gavi?"

"Um... If we go a little further past the lake, there’s a small cabin. I really like this area, so I’ve kept the cabin in good condition. And... well..."

Gavi’s face was burning red all the way to the tips of his ears.

Vaelrik immediately understood what he was trying to say.

His heart pounded wildly.

Gavi’s warmth, his flustered expression, and the faint scent he carried—it was all intoxicating.

He was inviting Vaelrik in his own way, and Vaelrik wasn’t immune to it.

"S-Sorry, I... do you think I’m... improper? Will you hate me? Do you think I’m indecent?"

Watching Gavi fidget shyly, Vaelrik couldn’t imagine anyone thinking such a thing.

He shook his head vigorously and, without hesitation, pulled Gavi into a firm embrace.

"Are you kidding? This is way better than being rejected!"

"Ah... um, okay."

Gavi blushed even more but then smiled, his expression melting into something sweet.

Vaelrik leaned in and kissed him gently.

Still, doing anything while the sun was still high felt a little too bold.

So instead, they decided to take their time.

They walked along the lake, enjoying their takeout sandwiches and fresh salad, laughing and chatting as they strolled.

The moment felt peaceful, effortless—perfect.

By the time the sun had begun to lower in the sky, they had finally arrived at the cabin.

"This place is bigger and nicer than I expected."

"Yeah. When I first found it, it was in pretty bad shape, but I fixed it up little by little."

"You fixed it? Yourself?"

Gavi nodded his head shyly when he saw Vaelrik’s surprised expression.

"I like doing this kind of thing. And once I started fixing it, it turned out really nice. Oh, and there’s even a hot spring here."

Vaelrik followed Gavi inside, where the room gave off a warm and cozy feeling.

The entrance led straight into a living area, complete with a rug and a table.

A small but functional kitchen was tucked into the corner, and further inside, a large bed sat against the wall.

"Why is the bed so big?" Vaelrik asked.
