Chapter 46: Moonlit Devil (1)

Holding her brother’s lifeless corpse, streams of tears began to flow down the black-haired woman’s cheeks.

"I... I shouldn’t have offered a chance for him to live... If I hadn’t, Steve would still be alive... I should have killed that little sh*t on sight!"

Pouring her heart out, the black-haired woman screamed in anger.

Brushing her hand across her bother’s eyes, she slowly closed them and gently let her brother down on the ground.

"Don’t worry, Steve, I’m going to make sure that b*stard suffers before he joins you in the afterlife. I’m going to rip him limb from limb!"

The black-haired woman could no longer see Blaine as a typical teenager.

There was no way that monster was the same as her darling son!

Seeing Blaine’s lifeless body, the black-haired woman couldn’t help but scowl harder.

"Oi, you piece of shit! You’d better not be dead!"

If the target of her revenge was already dead, what was she supposed to do with this burning anger?

The black-haired woman couldn’t help but regret her impulsive attack earlier.

She should have kept him unharmed to slowly torture him.

Until the auburn-haired youth fully realized what he had done.

However, as she neared Blaine’s body, a horrible chill went down the Kelonian woman’s spine.

Without even intending to, she had already taken a step back.

"...What is going on?"

While most Mana Arts were similar for the most part between members of the same family, the black-haired woman possessed a completely different ability compared to her brother.

In fact, the black-haired woman’s Mana Art was more similar to that of Delsie’s.

However, instead of enhancing her senses, the Kelonian woman’s mana art gave her an instinct-like sixth sense.

Relying on this sense was something that had saved her life countless times in the past.

Now, those very instincts were warning her of danger.

...But that made no sense.

The youth was most likely already dead, and if he wasn’t, he was already a half-step in the grave.

How could someone like that pose a threat to her?

Just as she thought this, Blaine’s Mana Core suddenly quivered.

Inside Blaine’s black onyx shard of a core, a singular pale grey speck floated next to a similar-looking pitch-black one.

However, given their minuscule sizes, the specks were tiny enough to avoid detection by the core’s owner.

Then, the grey speck, which usually lay dormant, began to light up with a deep grey glow.

As if resembling a star undergoing a supernova, the grey speck expanded in size, flooding the surrounding expanse of the core with gray smoke.

Invisible azure-blue threads ran through Blaine’s body like a network of interconnected webs, connecting his ethereal Mana Core to his physical body.

As the gray smoke spread out of the Mana Core, the azure threads rapidly turned ash coloured before spreading the grey colour to Blaine’s body.

It was to the point that the pale grey smoke began to pour out from every orifice of Blaine’s body like steam.

Whether it be his nose, mouth, sweat gland, or even the multitude of cuts that decorated his mangled body.

All of them began to release the same pale grey smoke.

’Poison?!?’

As soon as she saw this, the Black-haired woman felt a primal fear overtake her.

Her instincts warned her that even a simple graze with that smoke was enough to end her life instantly.

’Did someone fill that boy’s body with poison?’

As she thought this, the smoke pouring from Blaine’s body suddenly stopped.

The clouds of smoke then seemed to condense in the air before rapidly flowing back into the auburn-haired youth.

The pale grey smoke poured onto Blaine’s skin, flesh, bones and everything else it could come in contact with.

It was as if the smoke was trying to devour the youth whole, leaving not a single trace of the auburn-haired youth behind.

And it was then...

As the smoke flooded his system, his body slowly began to change.

Blaine’s skin turned from its usual ivory tone into one that perfectly matched the colour of the smoke.

Pale grey.

After his skin, the next thing to change was his arms and legs.

Producing several cracking noises, Blaine’s limbs began to grow in length, extending far beyond the proportions of a normal human.

Then, Blaine’s fingers and toes began to enlarge, turning into sharp blade-like claws.

Blaine’s body began to convulse as his shattered spine and ribs also followed a similar pattern.

Re-attaching themselves to their surroundings, they began to extend and grow, stretching the rest of Blaine’s body.

Blaine’s handsome, proportional face stretched lengthwise as the flesh that connected the segments of his face ripped and reattached themselves in real-time.

Sadly, his nose was an exception to this, as it was stretched and flattened, turning from a protrusion on his face into two long thin slits that covered the expanse of his face.

His ears experienced a comparable treatment, turning into two holes on either side of his head.

Blaine’s teeth sharpened and grew as his jaw elongated, turning into long, garish fangs that threatened to spill from his mouth.

As his eyes stretched as well, Blaine’s... No... The Creature’s firmly shut eyelids finally shot open.

Slit-like pupils inside frantically darted around the expanse of the monster’s eyeball before they began to split like cells undergoing mitosis.

The original pupils split into two and then four, bringing the total number between the two eyes to eight.

The pale grey abomination opened its mouth and released an ear-piercing shriek.

"SCREEEEEEEH"

Witnessing this, the two Kelonian women couldn’t help but stare at the Creature in pure horror.

"...What the h*ll?!?"

The Creature pulled its rapidly healing body to his feet before eyeing the two women before it.

The black-haired woman’s face paled as her Mana Art seemed to go into overdrive.

Her sixth instinct-like sense went off like an alarm, warning her to run away.

Run away from the abomination before her.

Its garish fangs curved into a perverse grin as a long snake-like tongue spilled between them.

Before the two captains could come to terms with Creature’s existence, the abomination kicked off the ground with its long, clawed feet.

The shoes and clothes that Blaine was wearing before had almost completely ripped apart during the nightmarish transformation, so his talon-like toes were given complete freedom.

Something that the Creature utilized to the fullest.

Before the black-haired woman could even react, the horrible Creature’s clawed hand stabbed right at her head.
