Chapter 280: Chapter 0231: Just Want To Ask You One Thing Chapter 280: Chapter 0231: Just Want To Ask You One Thing Chapter 0231: I Just Want To Ask You One Thing

Qi Tian came out of the Wudi Building and went straight to the back of it. He’d frequently heard cultivators who were coming in and out of the Wudi Building mentioning a flea market specifically catered towards cultivators.

As expected, once he reached behind the Wudi Building, he saw several hundred square meters of open space dotted with tall poplar trees. At the moment, many cultivators were haphazardly setting up their stalls, most of them sitting on the ground while some were on benches or cushions. None of them had shops.

Qi Tian enjoyed visiting such places the most. With the Heavenly Dao Engine, he could sense Spirit Qi which helped him discover treasures that ordinary people couldn’t detect. He had earned considerable wealth by this method. Though Qi Tian didn’t expect to make a large profit in this small city, he was just strolling around casually. If there were rewards, that would be wonderful, but even if there weren’t, he could learn more about the local conditions which might help him in intercepting the Chi Di people from moving southwards.

Qi Tian continuously used the Heavenly Dao Engine to gauge the amount of Spirit Qi in the open space. However, there wasn’t anything here that could arouse the interest of the Heavenly Dao Engine. The engine had elevated its standard as per the progression. It no longer showed interest in the average Spirit Qi resources meant for Qi Cultivation Period. Of course, if Qi Tian prompted it to ingest, it would still consume the resources, but it would not proactively express its desire to Qi Tian.

In this spontaneously-formed flea market, most of the stall owners were Qi Cultivation Period cultivators. They constitute the majority of the cultivators gathered at the Tongguan Left Guard Station. The proportion of Foundation Establishment Stage cultivators was actually quite small. After all, out of the masses of southbound Chi Di people, ninety-nine percent were ordinary people, and the remaining were cultivators. Among them, ninety percent were at the Qi Cultivation Period, and the remaining were at the Foundation Establishment Stage.

Correspondingly, the situation was similar at the Great Zhao. The presence of Foundation Establishment cultivators was mainly to oppose their Chi Di counterparts. Usually, they rarely interacted with ordinary people or Qi Cultivation Period cultivators among the Chi Di people. This followed the principle of equality. After all, there were Foundation Establishment and Gold Core Stage cultures among the Chi Di people. Whatever the Zhao cultivators could achieve, the Chi Di people could as well. If everyone acted recklessly towards ordinary secular people, it wouldn’t take long for everyone to perish. The secular people could potentially be wiped out, thus dissolving the very meaning of both nations’ existence.

Qi Tian was wandering aimlessly in the flea market. For many items, he didn’t even need the Heavenly Dao Engine’s help in determining their quality. He could verify their worth with his own eyes. After looking over more than a dozen stalls, Qi Tian failed to find anything significant. However, he did buy a couple of little trinkets. They were cheap, and he could make a small profit of a spirit stone or two by reselling them.

Earning money in this way was never going to be interesting, so Qi Tian decided to leave. Since he couldn’t find anything of interest and there was no news about the Chi Di people, he planned to head back. Instead of wasting time here, it was better to devote it to cultivation. Every bit of progress made before the southward invasion of the Chi Di people was worthwhile.

Qi Tian was about to leave the flea market when he noticed six or seven Qi Cultivation Period cultivators walking towards him, each carrying a large bundle. It appeared that they were planning to set up a stall at the flea market.

Qi Tian initially paid them no mind. However, as luck would have it, when those cultivators passed by him, the previously stagnant Heavenly Dao Engine suddenly became active, which stirred Qi Tian’s emotions.

Qi Tian halted his steps, turned around, and watched with a thoughtful expression as those cultivators walked away.

Without stopping, the cultivators walked straight to the most secluded part of the flea market and chose a corner to put down their large bundles. They took out the items and began setting up their stall.

Qi Tian noticed that the Heavenly Dao Engine ceased to react when those cultivators walked about a meter away from him. Even now, when all the items from the bundles had been unpacked and put on display, the Engine remained unresponsive.

This was indeed peculiar.

Qi Tian knew that the sensing range of the Heavenly Dao Engine was quite large, a little over-exaggerated at a hundred meters, but twenty to thirty meters were definitely possible. Especially when it encountered items it particularly desired or treasures with high Spirit Qi, the sensing distance could extend further. However, a mere one-meter sensing distance had never occurred before.

Qi Tian firmly believed that there couldn’t be anything wrong with the Heavenly Dao Engine, so the problem had to lie with those Qi Cultivation Period cultivators.

Interesting indeed.

Considering the imminence of the Chi Di people’s southbound movement, there was certainly something worth his attention that those fascinating individuals were present here in the Tongguan Left Guard Station.

An obscure smile crept onto Qi Tian’s face. He strode back into the flea market and followed the small paths formed by the rows of stalls, slowly making his way towards those newly-arrived Qi Cultivation period cultivators.
