Chapter 279: Chapter 0230 Too Flamboyant _2 Chapter 279: Chapter 0230 Too Flamboyant _2 “Yes, we wish to cultivate immortality, then seek vengeance upon the murderers of our father. Please grant us your blessing, immortal master.” The elder sister prostrated herself on the ground, kowtowing deeply before Zhang Lei.

Zhang Lei glanced at Qi Tian, saying, “Junior Brother, what do you suggest we do?”

Qi Tian knew Zhang Lei’s meaning. She really did not want to take on disciples. For a cultivator, accepting disciples is a very serious matter. Just like in the Huangque Hall of the Imperial Master Mansion, where thousands of young boys and girls from the Great Zhao gather. Even reaching the Qi Cultivation Mid-Phase is incredibly difficult, let alone the Foundation Establishment Stage. All these young boys and girls at Huangque Hall are meticulously vetted, the cream of the crop from a vast selection.

Even so, many disciples of Huangque Hall go through their whole lives without a designated master, just like Qi Tian, who until now, has no master.

Zhang Lei didn’t even want to accept disciples from Huangque Hall, let alone this brother and sister pair. Regardless of how profusely they kowtow, even if they knelt until the end of time, Zhang Lei would not be persuaded. Accepting a disciple is not a matter that can be done with a simple verbal agreement, it involves karma and responsibility. Even those who don’t care about their disciples as much don’t accept disciples lightly.

Qi Tian looked at the brother and sister who were still kowtowing, a hint of sympathy arose in his heart. He knew that if this pair of siblings could not quickly improve, they would eventually lose this property, and their fate would be inevitably tragic. If he hadn’t come across them, that would be one thing. But now that he had, he couldn’t just stand by and do nothing. That’s not his style.

After a moment’s hesitation, Qi Tian said, “Stop kowtowing, listen to me. Accepting you as my disciples is absolutely impossible. However, I can provide you with Cultivation Skills, as well as some cultivation resources as a gesture of goodwill. Moreover, while we are renting your courtyard, we can provide you with some protection. But that’s as far as we can help. We will not give you anything more. When the time comes, and we have to depart, whatever happens, we will be powerless to assist you. If you can accept this condition, we will rent your courtyard; otherwise, we will leave immediately.”

The sister raised her head and looked at Qi Tian, asking, “If we encounter problems during cultivation, could we ask for your guidance?”

Before Qi Tian could answer, Zhang Lei interjected, “Don’t push your luck. Do you realize how valuable the opportunity to cultivate is? My junior brother is willing to give you both a cultivation method and some cultivation resources. To describe them as ‘worth their weight in gold’ is not an overstatement. Are you still not contented? Do you think your derelict courtyard is worth much?”

Recognizing that she had upset Zhang Lei, the elder sister quickly lowered her head and apologized, “I’m sorry, I was too greedy. I accept your conditions.”

Seeing the elder sister looking frightened like a rabbit, Qi Tian sighed. He took out a manual pertaining to Cultivation Skills and said to Zhang Lei, “Senior Sister, do you have any Essence Qi Pills? If you do, may I borrow some?”

Zhang Lei pulled out a bottle of Essence Qi Pills and responded with a smile, “You don’t have to borrow them from me. I can give them to you.”

Qi Tian took the Essence Qi Pills and handed them to the elder sister along with the manual, saying, “This is a widely-used Cultivation Skill manual I obtained during my travels. It doesn’t demand too much of one’s physique, so both you and your brother can practice it. These are Essence Qi Pills. They can double your cultivation progress if taken during practice. Remember, before you have the ability to protect yourself, never disclose the existence of these treasures.”

The young girl kowtowed again to Qi Tian then reached out to take the items from his hand. “Thank you for your gift, immortal master.”

After kowtowing, the girl helped her brother to his feet, saying, “Please wait a moment, esteemed immortal masters, I’ll clean up the rooms for you.”

Watching the siblings retreat into the house, Zhang Lei remarked, “Junior Brother, you truly have a kind heart.”

“Having come across them, it’s only right to lend a hand if I can. Regardless, I am the Acting County Teacher. Even though they don’t fall under my jurisdiction, they are citizens of the Great Zhao. Ignoring them completely would weigh on my conscience,” Qi Tian explained nonchalantly.

Jiang Pan and Zhang Guangyao, both of whom had been silent, exchanged a glance. They didn’t quite approve of Qi Tian’s excessive kindness, but undoubtedly, having such a person as their team leader was a good thing for them. At least, it wasn’t as painful as fearing criticism from the captain.

The brother-sister duo finished tidying up quickly, soon making their way back to Qi Tian. “Immortal Masters, you may go in now.”

The courtyard contained a total of seven rooms, with five sitting rooms facing north-south, two flank rooms, and an additional storage shed made of wood and thatch, without any walls.

The sitting room was very clean, not just in terms of hygiene, but also in terms of arrangements. The room was almost empty, likely because the siblings had sold off most of the furniture.

Qi Tian and his team didn’t necessarily need so much furniture. They just needed a place that would shield them from wind and rain, as well as prying eyes. A simple living space like this would also be convenient for them to arrange. It didn’t matter if it was a bit shabby.

Qi Tian arranged for the five of them, as well as the siblings, to be housed. He and Pan Yulin would stay in one of the flank rooms, the siblings would sleep in the western room of the sitting room, Zhang Lei would sleep in the eastern room, while Zhang Guangyao and Jiang Pan would make the living room their resting area.

Everyone agreed to Qi Tian’s arrangement. Although Zhang Guangyao and Jiang Pan were a bit unhappy that the siblings had better accommodation than them, they had no face to fight the children for their places.

After arranging the living area, Qi Tian let everyone move freely. He left the courtyard and went to the town. He needed to familiarize himself with the town’s environment, learn the route to the Guard Office, and check out the terrain around them. Blocking the south-bound Chi Di people wasn’t an easy task; it required knowing both oneself and one’s enemy.

When Qi Tian had reported to the Guard Office earlier, he noticed that it was the place with the most cultivators present. First, he returned to the Guard Office, and quickly found a place that could potentially be of great help to him. It was a two-story building, conveniently located right across from the Guard Office, with cultivators constantly entering and exiting.

Alerted, Qi Tian approached the two-story building. As he approached, he saw a plaque hanging there with three characters— Wudi Building.

Wudi Building – Did it mean a place without Chi Di people, or a place where all Chi Di people had been eliminated? A faint smile materialized on Qi Tian’s face as he stepped into the Wudi Building.

Once inside, Qi Tian found that Wudi Building was actually a store dedicated to cultivators, selling various cultivation resources including medicinal herbs, natural treasures, weapons, and armors. Additionally, it had a special window for cultivators to take on various tasks.

Qi Tian approached a counter that sold books, buying one related to the Chi Di people. This book contained detailed descriptions of the Chi Di people, their country, how to recognize them, and past invasions, etc. It was an extremely useful book for Qi Tian.

Once he had the book, Qi Tian began to skim through it. Before long, he had read the entire book, and it helped clarify many of the things that had been bothering him.

Qi Tian then went to the task window and saw many bizarre tasks. There were even tasks to purchase the dead bodies of Chi Di cultivators. Although the price wasn’t high, it also wasn’t too low. For those cultivators who couldn’t effectively use the bodies of the Chi Di people, this purchase price was still quite attractive.

Qi Tian almost wanted to do the same as the Wudi Building and openly purchase the bodies of the Chi Di cultivators. But after some thought, he dismissed the idea. He didn’t have the connections that Wudi Building had. So if he dared to do so, he would inevitably become an eyesore and a thorn within the side of the Chi Di people. It was too ostentatious so better not.
