Chapter 1556: Chapter 0906 Simple Method Chapter 1556: Chapter 0906 Simple Method Chapter 0906: A Simple Method

After everyone had departed from Relay City using the Teleportation Array, Qi Tian leisurely set up a Defensive Barrier around the array, then he retracted the Transporting Whirlwind that had been monitoring Li Rusen. After that, Qi Tian stepped onto the Teleportation Array with Mansion Master Yi Xuwen and Huang Liuyan, leaving Relay City behind.

Everyone but Qi Tian felt as if they had narrowly escaped from disaster. The pressure exerted by Li Rusen and the Li family patriarch behind him was simply too great. If Qi Tian hadn’t appeared out of the blue, strongly suppressing Li Rusen’s unreasonable demands, they would certainly have suffered a great loss. Nevertheless, they still did not dare to linger near Relay City. Upon using the Teleportation Array to leave, they all changed their original routes, determined not to travel along the same path as Li Rusen.

At this time, the team from Wanjie City was facing the same issue about whether to change course or not, which led to fierce arguments within the group. The dispute mainly occurred between two leaders; Vice President Lu Songsheng of Wanjie Commerce advocated taking a detour to avoid the possibility of encountering Li Rusen again, while the other leader, Vice President Zhang Chenghua of the Ink Flood Dragon Association, insisted on continuing along the planned route.

His reason was very substantial—that taking a detour would take too much time, and they had arrived basically just in time, without much leeway. If they changed the route, they might miss the grand competition in the Holy Land, or at least some of the events there, which were of utmost importance to them and could not be missed.

While at Wanjie City, Lu Songsheng had always avoided direct conflict with Zhang Chenghua; even heated arguments had never occurred. But this time was different—the safety of the entire team was at stake, especially concerning Qi Tian’s life. Lu Songsheng, breaking away from his usual principle of soft approaches to wealth, openly quarreled with Zhang Chenghua.

Zhang Chenghua was not unaware of the necessity to change the route, but knowing this was one thing, acting on it was another. Li Rusen had been put at a disadvantage by Qi Tian and would surely take some petty actions. Zhang Chenghua had always disliked Qi Tian, and naturally, he would try every means to collaborate with Li Rusen, to afford Li Rusen the chance to continue targeting Qi Tian. If they took Lu Songsheng’s advice and changed the route, wouldn’t Qi Tian just be able to reach the Holy Land unscathed? His wish to see Qi Tian dead on the spot would then be in vain, wouldn’t it?

Neither Lu Songsheng nor Zhang Chenghua would give way. Seeing that the dispute was unresolved, Lu Songsheng could only seek a compromise. He made another suggestion—that the team should split in two, with those willing to take the detour following him and those who wanted to stick to the original plan following Zhang Chenghua.

Although Lu Songsheng’s suggestion was undoubtedly the most practical, Zhang Chenghua flatly rejected it. He bluntly issued threats, stating that the team was united and must advance or retreat together; they could not split up. Either everyone would change the route, or everyone would travel as originally planned—there could be no split. If anyone dared to do otherwise, unless they never returned to Wanjie City, the Ink Flood Dragon Association would make sure to “communicate” with them later about the consequences. They should think it over.

Lu Songsheng’s nose was nearly out of joint with anger. Zhang Chenghua had completely abandoned all pretense of civility by outright threatening them, discarding face and reason in favor of pure obstinance.

Lu Songsheng felt utterly powerless. His strength was about the same as Zhang Chenghua’s, and there was no chance of using his position to pressure him. He had no choice but to look to Qi Tian to see if he could come up with a solution.

Zhang Chenghua was smirking all the while, having made up his mind that no matter what reasoning Qi Tian offered, he would clench his teeth and never yield. By no means would he allow the team to change the planned route out of fear of reprisal from the Li family.

Qi Tian could guess Zhang Chenghua’s intentions without needing to ask. Had the timing been better, he would have long since taken measures against Zhang Chenghua.

Qi Tian spoke indifferently, “What’s the point in all this arguing? Since neither of the two leaders can convince the other, let’s decide our next action with the simplest and fairest method.”

Lu Songsheng and Zhang Chenghua both looked at Qi Tian, asking quietly, “What method?”

Qi Tian replied, “It’s very simple. Rock-paper-scissors, best two out of three. Whoever wins gets their way. Let’s start now, you two. Stop wasting words and begin.”

Lu Songsheng didn’t know what to say. “Qi Tian, this is a matter of everyone’s safety. Can such a frivolous method be used to decide?”

Qi Tian said, “Wealth and honor are decreed by fate, and fate is luck. The outcome of rock-paper-scissors will affect the fortune of all of us—how can that be considered trivial? Trust me, let’s do it this way.”

Lu Songsheng had no other option. His primary reason for proposing a change of route was for Qi Tian’s sake, and he thought Qi Tian would be on his side. To his surprise, Qi Tian suggested this method. He could only sigh and said, “If that’s what you think, don’t blame me afterward if I lose…”

Before Lu Songsheng could finish, Qi Tian interjected, “Vice President Lu, just go ahead. My luck has always been good, and this time will be no exception.”

What else could Lu Songsheng say? He nodded and turned to Zhang Chenghua, “Let’s do this.”

Zhang Chenghua’s gaze flickered. He was considering whether to go along with Qi Tian’s method. Rock-paper-scissors seemed simple, but it carried the elusive factor of luck. If luck wasn’t on his side, the team would have to follow Lu Songsheng’s suggestion and take a detour, which was clearly against his wishes. What should he do then? Should he accept the result or stick to his own ideas and insist on the original plan if the result was not to his liking?

Qi Tian stated, “Vice President Zhang, no matter the outcome later, once the result is in, I hope everyone will accept it and act accordingly. Anyone who dares to make further comments or cause trouble will have to deal with me. Then, I won’t bother with anything else—I’ll just travel according to my own desires, disregarding the team’s unified actions. If I choose to lead my own group to the Holy Land for the grand competition, that will be my affair and it won’t have anything to do with you anymore. Please understand that.”

Zhang Chenghua frowned. He hadn’t truly considered this possibility. If Qi Tian insisted on leaving the team to act alone, there wasn’t much he could do to stop him, unless he wanted a complete fallout with Qi Tian, which would be contrary to his and the Ink Flood Dragon Association’s interests. Clearly, to keep Qi Tian within the team, there was no choice but to accept the outcome of his and Lu Songsheng’s contest.
