Chapter 1513: Chapter 0871: Make Enemies Chapter 1513: Chapter 0871: Make Enemies Chapter 0871: Making an Enemy
Ever since Qi Tian acquired those ghost faces in the Imperial Family Secret Territory, he had held them firmly under his control, strictly regulating their actions and never allowing them to wreak havoc. His aim was simple—to prevent them from losing control, which would not only make them useless as his aides but also bring calamity to the world. However, with the recent growth in Qi Tian’s strength, he had gained enough confidence to ensure that even if he loosened his grip on the ghost faces slightly, he could still firmly clamp down on them. Therefore, this time he indulged them a bit.
The ghost faces were initially incredulous, but in a blink, fearing Qi Tian might change his mind, they rushed forward, competing fiercely to be the first to pounce on Chen Huai.
Chen Huai’s face was filled with despair. Upon seeing these ghost faces, he instinctively felt terror, but he still refused to submit to Qi Tian. He tried to use his own methods to resist the ghost faces’ assault. A golden screen of light materialized around him, protecting him firmly within its glow.
The ghost faces, for being only slightly delayed, couldn’t pounce on Chen Huai, and immediately became very agitated. They circled the golden light screen, roaring now and then, with black light beams bursting from their bodies and striking the golden screen, causing it to flicker precariously, at the risk of collapsing at any moment.
At this critical juncture, Chen Huai didn’t dare hold anything back, hurriedly retracting the Divine Sense that clung to Chen Xianyu.
In theory, this action of his was completely silent and should not attract anyone’s attention, but Qi Tian was closely monitoring every move Chen Huai made. Chen Huai’s withdrawal of control over Chen Xianyu could deceive others, but not him. Qi Tian’s mind wavered slightly, and the Transporting Whirlwind that had been circling around Chen Xianyu and Chen Huai immediately sprang into action, intercepting Chen Huai’s Divine Sense with precision, sweeping it up and delivering it straight into Qi Tian’s hands—and into the storage chamber of the Heavenly Dao Engine.
With a portion of his Divine Sense lost and severed from his connection, Chen Huai immediately spat out a mouthful of blood; his face was now black, otherwise, his complexion would be seen as pale as death.
Chen Huai’s spirit was injured, causing the golden light screen surrounding him to be impacted. The previously solid screen began to flicker. The ghost faces seized the opportunity, launching a fierce attack on the golden screen.
In just a moment, the golden screen could no longer hold together, disintegrating completely. The ghost faces descended upon Chen Huai like a pack of wolves released from their cage, swarming over him.
Chen Huai let out a succession of wretched screams. Now he could no longer play tough, crying out, “Qi Tian, please give me a quick death, I’ll tell you, I’m willing to tell you who was behind this.”
Qi Tian replied nonchalantly, “No matter, that answer is not as important to me as you might think. If you want to speak, then speak; if not, drop it—I’m not even interested in listening.”
Chen Huai’s flesh had been forcibly torn off by the ghostly faces, a degree of pain he had never experienced in his life, not even the focused assault by the magic array just now had been as unbearable. In haste he cried out, “It was Xu Xinge and Wu Jiahui from the Ink Flood Dragon Association of Wanjie City who found me. They promised me great rewards, and that’s why I sought a few friends and set up this trap for you. I swear, everything I’ve spoken is true, not a single lie, Qi Tian, I beg you to end my suffering swiftly; please, don’t let these ghostly faces continue to rip apart my flesh.”
Qi Tian couldn’t help narrowing his eyes, considering all possibilities, never had he anticipated Chen Huai’s actions to be directed by the Ink Flood Dragon Association. An icy smirk momentarily appeared on his lips—this score was well and truly settled. With a wave of his hand, he released a flying sword that pierced through Chen Huai’s Purple Mansion, instantly killing Chen Huai’s Nascent Soul.
A faint smile appeared on Chen Huai’s lips as he was finally relieved.
The ghostly faces, however, did not care whether Chen Huai was killed or not, they just continued tearing at his corpse.
Qi Tian didn’t bother with them anymore and instead nonchalantly walked over to Chen Xianyu to check his condition, which was very dire, breathing more out than in. Chen Xianyu’s Nascent Soul in the Purple Mansion was lying on its side on the ground, its aura weak, its radiance dim and dull, flickering like a light bulb on the verge of burning out, indicating that there was virtually no hope of recovery.
Qi Tian let out a sigh. With Chen Xianyu in this state, he truly had the confidence to save him. He had killed so many Nascent Soul Masters, explored many secret territories, and collected quite a number of life-saving elixirs. Chen Xianyu’s condition merely required a single pill to bring him back from the brink, although it wouldn’t make him immediately better, it would prevent his death—which was achievable. However, Qi Tian had no intention of making a move.
It wasn’t that he was indifferent to the suffering, but Chen Xianyu wasn’t worth the enormous cost it would require to save him. Since Chen Xianyu was already in such a state, he decided to let nature take its course. Life or death, it was now in his own hands.
The ghostly faces had already flayed and consumed Chen Huai alive, appearing quite pleased with themselves. One of them held up a Storage Ring and brought it over to Qi Tian, an artifact found on Chen Huai and the most valuable thing left of him.
Qi Tian’s Divine Sense probed into the Storage Ring of Chen Huai and found several artifacts within that still contained the fluctuations of Chen Xianyu’s Spirit Qi. It seemed these were the treasures Chen Huai had pilfered from Chen Xianyu.
The things Chen Xianyu was carrying were now of little value, a detail that Qi Tian had inadvertently overlooked. He had assumed the lack of valuable artifacts on Chen Xianyu was due to the Chen family taking them all to convert into gifts for seeking help. However, it now dawned on him that it was likely Chen Huai who took all the valuable artifacts from Chen Xianyu for himself after gaining control over him.
Qi Tian sighed and carelessly set up a Defensive Array around Chen Xianyu, then said to him, “Master Xian Yu, this is the last thing I can do for you. If you’re favored by destiny and can pull through on your own, this Defense Magic Array should ensure your safety. If you cannot survive, it will at least protect your body from being desecrated by others. I have other matters to attend to, so this is goodbye. I hope we have the chance to meet again in the future.”
After finishing his words, Qi Tian leaped onto Huo Yunbiao’s back and spurred the creature to fly towards the several Nascent Soul Masters who were plotting from the inside and planning to move against him.
