Qi Tian had no interest in engaging in battle with the two Nascent Soul Masters, mainly because doing so would be too time-consuming. This time, with so many people setting up an ambush for him, he needed to make quick work of it, cutting down everyone in his path without letting a single person escape. If he were to personally take on these two Nascent Soul Masters, it would definitely not end quickly, and it might even give the others a chance to flee.
With a wave of his hand, a streak of red light burst forth from the Spirit Beast Bracelet, landing on the ground. Huo Yunbiao’s imposing and majestic form was revealed in an instant. He roared towards the sky and charged straight at Master Red Robe.
The moment Master Red Robe saw Huo Yunbiao, his soul scattered in terror. Without a second thought, he instinctively felt his own spirit trembling. He knew he couldn’t beat this creature, the strength difference was overwhelming. At this point, if he still charged forward, it wouldn’t just be an act of bravado—it would be courting death.
Master Red Robe turned tail and fled, and Green Robe Practitioner did the same. He wasn’t foolish; at this moment, the contest was about who could run faster. If one were slower, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Unfortunately, the two Nascent Soul Masters still underestimated Huo Yunbiao’s speed and combat power. Had the two Masters joined forces, they might have stood a chance against Huo Yunbiao. Even if they couldn’t defeat Huo Yunbiao, they could have caused it some minor losses. But now, fleeing separately, they completely lost all opportunities.
It wasn’t long before Master Red Robe was overtaken by Huo Yunbiao. With a vicious swat of its paw, as large as a round table, Huo Yunbiao struck the fleeing Master Red Robe on the back, with a single blow causing him to spit blood and suffer broken bones and tendons, leaving his life hanging by a thread. Then Huo Yunbiao turned and pounced toward the Green Robe Practitioner. In short order, the Green Robe Practitioner was caught by Huo Yunbiao, and with one bite, he was torn in two.
The Green Robe Practitioner’s Nascent Soul hastily burst through the top of the skull, attempting to flee. But Qi Tian wasn’t about to give him that chance. With a flick of his hand, he released several ghostly faces that quickly caught up and subdued the Nascent Soul of the Green Robe Practitioner, dragging it back.
Qi Tian affixed a few suppressive talismans onto the Nascent Soul of the Green Robe Practitioner, and after confining it, he tossed it into the Heavenly Dao Engine, to decide his fate at a later time.
Afterward, Qi Tian leaped onto Huo Yunbiao’s back and directed him to fly over to the earlier ambush. They arrived swiftly at the outskirts of the ambush circle. The Gold Core Realm cultivators who were guarding the Array Flags and forming an attack formation were still unaware of what was happening when Huo Yunbiao, with Qi Tian on his back, charged at them. Qi Tian showed no mercy towards them. Finding one, he flicked his wrist and a Wolf Teeth Knife penetrated their throats, killing them without sparing a single life.
After exterminating all of the Gold Core Realm cultivators who were setting up the array on the outskirts, Qi Tian finally returned to the middle of the ambush circle. On the ground there lay two dark figures bearing human features, who were still alive but barely breathing. Qi Tian didn’t even need to use his Divine Sense to know that these two unfortunate souls were none other than Chen Xianyu and Chen Huai, the grandfather-grandson duo.
Huo Yunbiao landed on the ground with Qi Tian on his back, snorting at Chen Xianyu and Chen Huai. A gust of air from its nostrils blew over them, immediately tearing open more wounds on their bodies and eliciting waves of agonized screams.
Compared to Chen Xianyu’s wails, which were incredibly faint, more akin to a subconscious groan, Chen Huai’s groaning was much louder, conveying an impression of heart-wrenching agony.
Qi Tian walked casually towards Chen Huai with not a trace of nervousness or worry to be seen on him.
A cruel gleam flashed in the eyes of the continuously moaning Chen Huai. His mouth opened, and a cold light shot out straight towards Qi Tian. This was Chen Huai’s trump card that he had used many times before to slay countless formidable enemies.
However, this time Chen Huai was destined for disappointment. The cold light had just flown out of his mouth when, like being struck by a muffled blow, it could no longer maintain its original posture and speed, wobbling erratically through the air. After scraping through a slight distance, it fell to the ground, wriggled like a dead snake for a moment, and then lay still. The cold light revealed its true form; it was a small flying sword just inches long.
Chen Huai could distinctly feel that the power within the small flying sword was still present. It could not move because something was binding it, rendering it immobile. This suddenly reminded Chen Huai of the incident where his Teleportation Talisman was snatched. Could the force that bound the flying sword be that same one who had taken his Teleportation Talisman?
As if he hadn’t noticed what had just happened, Qi Tian arrived in front of Chen Huai and spoke indifferently, “I wasn’t certain there was enmity between us, but now, I have no more doubts. What puzzles me is, I have never met you before, we’ve had no interactions whatsoever, so why go to such lengths to kill me? Have I offended you?”
Chen Huai, extricating himself from his dilemma, glared at Qi Tian. Enduring the excruciating pain throughout his body and disregarding the agony caused by the movement of his mouth, he said, “I haven’t offended you? Ha, Qi Tian, don’t you find such words heart-wrenching? During Sui’an City’s struggle against your Wanjie City for the ownership of the Fiery Cloud Secret Realm, would we have lost if not for you? Because of your existence, our friends from Sui’an City paid a heavy price in the struggle for the Fiery Cloud Secret Realm. In the end, it was all for naught, gaining nothing, and you caused Sui’an City to suffer such a great loss. How dare you say you haven’t offended me?”
Chen Huai spoke with a righteous tone, but Qi Tian only smiled faintly upon hearing this and said, “Even you don’t believe what you just said. I’ll give you one last chance. Tell me, why do you want to kill me? Who is the mastermind behind this?”
Chen Huai replied, “I’ve said it already, our action this time was to take revenge on you, to avenge the heavy loss Sui’an City suffered three years ago. There is no one else behind this.”
Qi Tian nodded and said, “I was willing to give you a chance to die quickly, but it seems I’ve been too merciful. Well, then you can’t blame me for not being nice.”
With a wave of his hand, Qi Tian released all the ghost faces. Pointing at Chen Huai, he said, “You have all done me great service during this time, and I haven’t had the chance to reward you. Today, I’ll give you that chance. I’ll leave him to you; you can deal with him however you wish.”
