Chapter 1426 - 1426 807 Its Good to Be an Ordinary Person_2
Chapter 1426: Chapter 807: It’s Good to Be an Ordinary Person_2 Chapter 1426: Chapter 807: It’s Good to Be an Ordinary Person_2 Entering the National Master Manor, Qi Tian was not too keen; if it succeeded, it succeeded, else, it would be discussed later. He was more worried about Huang Liuyan and Gao Jinmei’s safety, feeling more concerned about Gao Jinmei.
Regarding Huang Liuyan, Qi Tian had already beaten up Cheng Daoran, who was most likely to threaten Huang Liuyan. As long as Cheng Daoran wasn’t foolish, he definitely wouldn’t dare to trouble Huang Liuyan easily again. However, Gao Jinmei’s situation was different; no one knew someone was backing her. If someone did trouble Gao Jinmei, she might not be able to withstand it.
Qi Tian decided to look for Gao Jinmei first. To prevent any mishaps, he secretly placed a common grain of yellow sand on her when she took a leave, not one from the Nascent Soul Stage. Qi Tian himself couldn’t feel where this grain of sand was, but the Liuli Sand could feel it, which was enough.
Qi Tian left his residence. At the gate, he replaced the symbol with one he had previously agreed upon with Huang Liuyan, to prevent her from not being able to find him. Then, guided by Liuli Sand, he began searching for Gao Jinmei.
Gao Jinmei was an assassin; she had told Qi Tian more than once that she preferred acting solo when she killed, akin to a lone ranger. Besides occasionally taking assignments in a particular place, she didn’t contact anyone at other times, nor was she affiliated with any assassination organization.
Gao Jinmei had told Qi Tian about these things more than once when she was still his Immortal Slave, and it was impossible for her to lie to him. Logically, she shouldn’t have encountered any trouble when she asked for leave this time, but it seemed Gao Jinmei was in considerable trouble now.
Guided by the Liuli Sand, the search for Gao Jinmei was going smoothly. However, Qi Tian realized the further he went, the more remote his path became, increasingly deviating from the high-class area of Wanjie City and arriving at the notorious slums of the city.
This area was populated by the lowest class of residents in Wanjie City; either they were completely unable to cultivate, or though they could, they had poor aptitude, struggling only in the Qi Cultivation Stage. They didn’t even have a chance to reach the middle or higher levels of the Qi Cultivation Stage, being just at the beginning stages.
In Wanjie City, a sacred cultivation place, such people would find it extremely difficult to even secure odd jobs. Without jobs, they couldn’t earn money or obtain cultivation resources. At such times, the most sensible action would be to leave Wanjie City and make a living elsewhere. However, accustomed to the prosperity here and the favorable cultivation environment, who would willingly leave? Even if it meant begging, they preferred to stay, refusing to leave at any cost.
When Qi Tian first entered Wanjie City, he had never been to this place before. He was very unfamiliar with it, yet even so, when he stepped foot here, he didn’t feel the slightest fear. He just followed the directions from the Liuli Sand, walking on foot with a clear goal and firm steps, nothing able to hinder him.
Although Qi Tian did not exhibit his aura, his clothing and demeanor clearly differed from the locals; he was obviously not from around here, of noble birth. Such people usually do not set foot in the slums, and if they do, it is not over trivial matters.
The quick-witted ones all hid away; wherever Qi Tian went, they would retreat. They were unwilling to face Qi Tian. Qi Tian paid no mind to these people; with the Liuli Sand as his guide, he didn’t even need to ask for directions, just followed it directly.
During his walk, Qi Tian was constantly vigilant, the Heavenly Dao Engine helping him monitor everything around him.
Qi Tian noticed that although most people were avoiding him, there were still some secretly watching him, either from a distance or hidden in dark corners.
Among those watching him, a small portion was purely out of curiosity, but a considerable number—those observing him—weren’t just curious; their gazes were scrutinizing and cautious.
In the bodies of these people, Qi Tian could distinctly feel through the sensing function of the Heavenly Dao Engine that there was something different about them compared to the others around. The greatest difference was the intensely strong fluctuations of spirit force emanating from them. The weakest among them was in the late-stage Qi Cultivation, and the majority were cultivators at the Foundation Establishment Stage. The presence of cultivators at this level in the slums was already quite telling.
Qi Tian sneered secretly, knowing that the path Lulisan had shown him was correct. He believed it wouldn’t be long until he might find Gao Jinmei.
After walking quite a distance through the main streets and alleyways of the slums, Qi Tian eventually stopped in front of a shabby tavern. This two-story tavern was in a state of disrepair, with broken windows and doors, and even the tavern flag hanging under the eaves had a big hole torn through it. If it weren’t for the people going in and out, Qi Tian would have mistaken it for a dilapidated building.
Qi Tian directly walked into the tavern, and a person that appeared to be a waiter hurriedly came over to greet him, nodding and bowing with extreme respect. The way he acted was almost as if he were serving an ancestor.
The moment Qi Tian saw this waiter, he knew he wasn’t a normal person. Surprisingly, this was a strong cultivator in the Gold Core Realm who had concealed his aura very successfully. To outsiders, he looked just like an ordinary person, but there was no way he could hide from Qi Tian’s eyes. Qi Tian didn’t even need the help of the Heavenly Dao Engine; just with his own divine sense, far surpassing average humans, he could distinguish him.
Qi Tian smiled and casually picked a spot to sit down. He asked the waiter to bring him wine and dishes. When the waiter was about to set the food and drink on the table, Qi Tian suddenly reached out, grabbing the waiter’s wrist.
The waiter shuddered. He had received a message in advance and had been extremely cautious around Qi Tian from the beginning. However, when Qi Tian actually made a move, he realized he had not dodged.
The waiter wanted to struggle, but he sadly found that Qi Tian’s grip was like a vise, immovable no matter how much he struggled. When the waiter tried to summon more strength, even attempting to mobilize his True Essence, he became even more despondent upon discovering Qi Tian had sealed his meridians. He found it utterly impossible to mobilize a single bit of his True Essence.
The waiter couldn’t help feeling terrified; he forced a slight smile and wanted to ask Qi Tian what he was doing and if there was any misunderstanding.
Qi Tian, still holding the waiter’s wrist, stood up and spoke cordially, “I didn’t come here to cause trouble, I came in search of someone. If I can find the person and leave safely, no trouble will ensue. However, if I can’t find the person and someone intervenes, then I can assure they would deeply regret it. I think my point has been made very clear. Now, I need a guide. Would you be willing to help?”
The waiter still pretended to be confused and denied directly, “Sir, I don’t know what you are talking about.”
A slight sneer appeared on Qi Tian’s lips; he released the waiter’s hand and said, “Since you’re unwilling to lead the way, I won’t insist. I will find someone else who is willing to guide me. You may go.”
The waiter regained his freedom and his face instantly displayed a fierce look. He had concluded that Qi Tian was here to pick a fight, and the only way they dealt with such provocations here was with no mercy.
He immediately tried to summon his True Essence, but he discovered that even though Qi Tian had released his hand, he still couldn’t do so. More distressingly, he found no trace of how Qi Tian had sealed his abilities at the spot where his wrist had been grabbed, leaving him without any clue on how to unseal himself.
Qi Tian patted the waiter’s shoulder and said, “Prepare yourself for a lifetime as an ordinary person. Being ordinary isn’t so bad; at the very least, your hands won’t be tainted with other people’s blood. Quite good, actually.”
