Chapter 1425: Chapter 807: It’s Good to Be an Ordinary Person Chapter 1425: Chapter 807: It’s Good to Be an Ordinary Person Chapter 0807: It’s Quite Nice to Be an Ordinary Person
Two days later, Qi Tian returned to Wanjie City with Huang Liuyan and Gao Jinmei. Having been persuaded by Huang Liuyan’s analysis, Qi Tian decided to first check out the situation in Wanjie City. If things could unfold as Huang had analyzed, and he could secure a place for himself at the National Master Manor there, he wouldn’t mind staying in Wanjie City for a while, observing the changes to strategize for better future development.
Qi Tian and the two women each possessed a Wanjie City identity jade plaque, and they encountered no obstructions upon entering the city. Entering Wanjie City, Qi Tian had a subtle feeling; he had visited Wanjie City many times before, but this was the first time he entered in such a manner. Previously, either he had teleported directly into the city’s center, or he had been on some mission in Wanjie City, entering and exiting the city gates with a large group of people.
After entering Wanjie City, Qi Tian didn’t go to the National Master Manor with Huang Liuyan. They made an arrangement, and then parted ways. Huang Liuyan would return to the National Master Manor alone to lay the groundwork for Qi Tian’s arrival, to gather information, and to feel out the steward of the Master Mansion. Meanwhile, Qi Tian took Gao Jinmei back to his residence in Wanjie City, a house he had bought a long time ago and spent quite a bit of money on, but had rarely stayed in.
Gao Jinmei asked Qi Tian for leave as she also had matters to deal with in Wanjie City and needed some time.
Qi Tian promptly granted Gao Jinmei the leave without even inquiring why she had requested it.
Alone in the house, Qi Tian became bored and took it upon himself to clean. He did not resort to spells but instead used the most primitive methods with rags and brooms to wipe down doors and windows and sweep the courtyard, relishing the work.
Being a Gold Core Realm cultivator, such physical labor was extremely easy for him. As long as he didn’t find it tedious, he didn’t feel tired.
After Qi Tian had finished cleaning the courtyard by himself, only half a day had passed. Then, he carried a chair into the middle of the courtyard, sat down, and began to bask in the sunlight, squinting his eyes as he rested.
Qi Tian had visited Wanjie City more than once, and his understanding of it was rather profound. Despite the gathering of many Nascent Soul Masters and Gold Core Realm cultivators, Qi Tian did not see it as a place suitable for practicing cultivation in public areas. The city was filled with formidable people; drawing too much Spirit Qi during cultivation without adequate protections could attract unwanted attention, with potentially unpredictable consequences.
If Qi Tian wanted to cultivate and protect himself, it would be an easy task; however, he chose not to spend time on cultivation now. He needed to consider carefully the advice Huang Liuyan had given him. If Huang managed to successfully persuade the National Master Manor and they agreed to let him join, then what should be his next move?
The biggest obstacles for his entrance into the Master Mansion were twofold. One was his identity as a disciple of the Great Zhao Imperial Master Mansion—a status that may not be recognized by Wanjie City’s Master Mansion. Huang Liuyan’s word was not enough; it would require the assent of the Master Mansion’s authority, and only then might his status be acknowledged. Without approval from the higher-ups, no matter how much praise Huang gave him, it would be useless.
The second obstacle was naturally Cheng Daoran. Cheng’s roots in the Master Mansion were deep and his connections intricate. Cheng definitely did not want to see him enter the Master Mansion and would surely hinder him as much as possible, increasing the resistance to his admission. Even if Cheng failed to prevent his entry, the faction led by Cheng would assuredly view him with enmity afterward.
These two obstacles were neither minor nor insurmountable; it all depended on how Qi Tian viewed them. If Qi Tian felt that joining the Master Mansion was essential, then he would have to find a way to remove these barriers.
Qi Tian took a cautious but optimistic stance. He decided to wait and see. If Huang Liuyan couldn’t provide definite news after an agreed period, then he would consider other options. For now, he preferred to think optimistically. Even if entering the Master Mansion would not pose any obstacle and he could do so smoothly, troubles could still arise once inside.
But for such possibilities, Qi Tian harbored no worries. With his current strength, although he couldn’t claim to be invincible in Wanjie City, there would hardly be anyone who could stop him.
The wait lasted three days, and in the blink of an eye, the time of his appointment with Huang Liuyan had come. A slight mishap occurred—Huang Liuyan neither came to find him nor sent any messages. She seemed to have completely vanished without a trace.
Another matter concerned Gao Jinmei. Gao had taken leave for two and a half days, promising to return on time. However, the time had long passed, and there was also no word from Gao Jinmei.
Qi Tian couldn’t help but scratch his head in puzzlement. It seemed to him that he either faced no issues at all or, when troubles came, they came all at once, piling up inevitably. Why couldn’t they happen sequentially? It was truly bothersome.
