Even though all of its legs had been severed by Qi Tian’s flying sword, and the Ghost Face Illusion Demon Spider writhed in agony on the ground, it showed no intention of submitting to Qi Tian. This outcome, while unsatisfactory for Qi Tian, didn’t surprise him much. After all, he was no Child of Heavenly Selection who everyone adored and flowers bloomed for— it was only natural that a mystical creature with the Ghost Face Illusion Demon Spider’s power wouldn’t easily submit to him.
Being unable to subdue the Ghost Face Illusion Demon Spider, or to pry any information about the Teleportation Array from its lips, was extremely disadvantageous for Qi Tian’s mission to locate the Teleportation Array and rescue the Refined Glaze Sand.
Qi Tian somewhat sulkily retreated from the storage room of the Heavenly Dao Engine. Since he couldn’t rely on the Ghost Face Illusion Demon Spider, he had to rely on himself.
Qi Tian first turned his attention to the walls he hadn’t yet investigated— the demon faces in these walls had already been cleared by him, which meant that probing them would present much less danger. However, Qi Tian didn’t rashly take action.
When previously exploring the walls, the Refined Glaze Sand had been the main force, and now, without it to assist him, Qi Tian knew his chances of encountering danger would multiply if he insisted on continuing the exploration. This was highly unfavorable to him.
By then, Qi Tian also noticed a detail: with the Refined Glaze Sand missing and its connection to him lost, the dense fog that permeated the entire Inner Underground Palace was rapidly thinning. Before long, normal visibility would be restored, which would increase the risk for Qi Tian as people’s line of sight and Divine Sense would no longer be hindered.
It was crucial to mitigate potential dangers, find the other end of the Teleportation Array, and re-establish the connection with the Refined Glaze Sand; there was no time to lose.
Since he couldn’t extract useful information from the Ghost Face Illusion Demon Spider, Qi Tian would have to find another way. The first thing he thought of was the contract between him and the Refined Glaze Sand. Under normal circumstances, there was a subtle connection between contract parties, which could vary in strength— so weak that they might need to be mere meters apart, so strong that they could be hundreds or even thousands of miles apart without any problems.
The Blood Pact Qi Tian had initially made with the Refined Glaze Sand did allow for some form of connection between them, but it was limited in range. Qi Tian had tried to use this method to re-establish contact with the Refined Glaze Sand and locate it immediately after its disappearance, but to no avail.
Now, unable to think of any other method, Qi Tian once again started from this point, seeking a way to enhance the contract’s resonance one-sidedly. If successful, he might be able to use this method to find the Refined Glaze Sand.
Qi Tian couldn’t solve this issue on his own; his experience was limited, and he couldn’t invent such a method out of thin air. He first considered Emperor Jianwu and the others.
These individuals had all lived for hundreds of years, ancient relics in their own right. They might possess similar methods, but Qi Tian soon discarded the idea of consulting them.
All of them were at the Gold Core Stage, and some had been stuck at their current realm for decades or even centuries. This was enough to suggest that their insights were limited. No matter how many centuries they had lived, they couldn’t just fabricate knowledge they didn’t possess. Of course, Qi Tian didn’t dismiss the possibility that there might be a genius among them in this respect, but the probability was so slight he didn’t want to waste any more time on such an unlikely chance.
Qi Tian eventually turned his attention to the nine demon faces he had gone to great lengths to subdue. They were all at the Nascent Soul Stage, not only one tier higher than Emperor Jianwu and his peers but also much older, making it far more likely that they had the knowledge he sought.
Without hesitation, Qi Tian summoned all nine demon faces and told them what he wanted to know, asking if they knew of any such method.
Having been bound by the Blood Pact, the nine faces were subject to Qi Tian and could not refuse direct commands from him. However, Qi Tian had to issue a clear and authoritative order for them to act— his inquiry did not prompt any of the faces to volunteer an answer.
They had submitted to Qi Tian, but they didn’t genuinely respect him.
Qi Tian quickly realized he had been too polite to the nine demon faces. With a darkened expression, he pointed to the most powerful of them and demanded, in a commanding tone, for it to reveal the method to enhance the range of the Blood Pact’s connection.
Under the powerful constraints of the Blood Pact, the designated demon face dared not disobey. It immediately disclosed everything it knew, leaving nothing hidden or deceptive from Qi Tian.
