Seeing Qi Tian about to re-enter the tomb passage to rest, Emperor Jianwu hurriedly stepped forward and said, “Master Qi, please wait. We have another matter to report to you.”
Qi Tian frowned, time was of the essence to him, and he did not want to waste it on unnecessary matters. However, he still patiently asked, “What is the matter? If it’s not important, you can handle it yourselves.”
Emperor Jianwu did not dare to delay and quickly relayed to Qi Tian everything that had occurred inside the underground palace.
“Master Qi, we consecutively selected three groups of people from all of our companions and dispatched them into the underground palace as the Vanguard Team to explore. As a result, all three groups suffered heavy casualties. In particular, the third group consisted of five individuals who were among our best, but since they entered the underground palace, they have not yet returned, and I fear the worst has befallen them.”
Qi Tian was aware that investigating the underground palace would not be easy, but he had not anticipated such difficulty. Sending out three teams without any gains, and if more people were to be dispatched, it would likely yield no results. He feared the Prince, along with the more than a hundred people brought along, might risk losing everything.
After a moment’s thought, Qi Tian waved his hand, and several magical instruments appeared on the ground. Pointing to them, he said to Emperor Jianwu, “I have just killed three formidable enemies and seized a few magical instruments of Half-step Nascent Soul level from them. You may take them for your use. Also, that one named Zhou Ping, he should have magical instruments of this level as well. Take them all for your use. With these instruments, perhaps your exploration can proceed with more ease.”
Emperor Jianwu and the others had not expected Qi Tian to entrust them with such high-quality magical instruments. These were the highest quality they could access, and before meeting Qi Tian, aside from Emperor Bahuang, the Princes had been unaware such instruments even existed. For them, each of these Nascent Soul Level instruments was invaluable and of immense worth. Qi Tian’s generosity and the trust he showed by offering these instruments for their use made them feel inferior.
“Thank you, Master Qi,” the group led by Emperor Jianwu promptly thanked Qi Tian.
Qi Tian dismissed the thanks with a wave of his hand. His decision to lend them the instruments was partly not wanting to see more casualties among them and partly for his own considerations. After all, he could not handle every matter himself, mundane tasks like the initial exploration were for Emperor Jianwu and his team to manage. If they lacked proper equipment, it was impossible for them to accomplish the task properly.
Qi Tian asked, “With these magical instruments above the Half-step Nascent Soul level, you should be able to roughly explore the underground palace, right?”
Emperor Jianwu wished he could say “enough,” but he didn’t dare to utter these words hastily. If he did, he’d have to take responsibility for them. With Qi Tian, there was no room for prevarication or evasion. He had to speak candidly, “With these instruments, we certainly can enhance our strength and gain significant improvements, but, judging from the experiences of the previous three teams, the enemies they encountered were likely very powerful, and the gap between them and us may not be something that could be bridged merely with these Half-step Nascent Soul level instruments. Master Qi, to be honest, we need a greater number of such quality instruments, or we need much more powerful assistants.”
Qi Tian did not rush to scold Emperor Jianwu. Candidness from the Emperor was preferable to maintaining appearances at the cost of suffering. If they re-entered the underground palace unprepared, not only could more casualties arise, but there was also a great chance that the magical instruments of Half-step Nascent Soul level that Qi Tian had finally acquired could be lost there, which would be a considerable loss for him.
After considering, Qi Tian produced an elemental sword and offered it to Emperor Jianwu, saying, “This is a flying sword once used by a Nascent Soul Master. I can lend it to you temporarily.”
The power emanating from the flying sword was so intense that Emperor Jianwu felt intimidated without even touching it. He quickly shook his head and said, “Master Qi, you honor me too much; I am not worthy, nor do I have the ability to use such a sword. I’m not laughing, but truly, not only am I incapable, but none among the more than a hundred people here could manage it. We do not have the strength you do. If you give me this sword, it will be nothing more than an ornament, hardly of any practical use.”
What Emperor Jianwu said was not false modesty. Having practiced for hundreds of years, he knew all too well that Nascent Soul Stage flying swords were not something just any Gold Core Stage cultivator could control. One should only take on as much as they can handle; trying to force more would only end disastrously.
