"Please , let’s stay in touch as much as possible through the virtual universe" Arrie spoke softly as she remained in Kailen’s embrace, with the bedsheets covering their body except their faces and hands.

" I’m sorry I’ve not been in touch with you . I -"

Before Kailen could finish talking Arrie interrupted him " There’s no need to apologize Kai. Just.. it’s hard not hearing from you so please even if it’s once in a while let’s meet in the virtual universe network and spend some time together"

Kailen nodded " Mm. Anything for you"

" Thank you Kai"

" You’re welcome dear "

"I failed you. I told you the next time we’d meet ,I would at least be at the ascendant level.Im still too weak"

Kailen stroke Arrie’s hair then kissed her on the forehead.

" No you haven’t. And I’m not saying this just to comfort you. You have been working extremely hard. Pushing yourself to the limits " He reassured her gently "You’ve managed to break into S rank in the short time I’ve left. This is an achievement I’m extremely amazed at. In fact I can say I’m actually proud of you Arrie. So don’t be too hard on yourself okay?"

"You really mean that?"

" Yes I do "

" Alright. If you say so. And please , be safe out there "

" I will"

The moment Kailen replied, he dissapeared from beneath the sheets,leaving Arrie to her solitude.

It was as though he had never been there.

"It’s just you and me now pinky "

She turned to look at the pink teddy bear lying somewhere on the large king sized pink bed in the large pink room akin to a VIP Suite.

She sighed emotionally , her thoughts still lingering towards the wonderful night they had just enjoyed together. Arrie’s heart thumped wildy as she touched her lips, her cheeks turning red.

" I miss him already"

She stared at the holographic screen of the game console ,somewhere in the large room,still on.

" And to think he’d be so bad at playing games" Arrie chuckled "Heh, it’s really a breath of fresh air to have someone as remarkable as him lose at something"

Her gaze turned somber as she pursed her lips

" There will come a time where we can be together without having to worry about the threats of the universe. No training ,no wars,no responsibilities-just the parenting ones and spending time with each other. I need to become as strong as possible to stand by his side in order to make that possible . It’s time to head to Antartica to train. Those untamed diabolic beasts on that wild continent will be extremely helpful on helping me hone my skills. I need to familiarise myself with my strength as an S ranked awakener .

Perhaps , Micheal and Charles could join me?. As for Kailen’s short visit, it’s better not to tell them about it. When he’s ready to see them again, he will meet them on his own"

With that Arrie drifted into sleep.

A brown haired youngster appeared in an alleyway of one of the slum regions of the capital of the Astral Empire.

This was Kailen. He had used his umbra replacement skill to swap locations with one of his shadow creatures.

"Don’t have much to lose to be careful. Let’s bad another appearance "

Quickly, a glass bottle of brown liquid appeared in his hands.

He drunk the liquid and threw the glass bottle away.

A wave of purple washed over him ,only to reveal the appearance of an entirely different person now standing at where he previously stood.

Kailen now had green colored hair and amber colored irises with a tall and handsome build.

" Not bad. Let’s find a place to rest for the night "

Kailen turned into a streak of light and dissapeared into the night.

As he moved ,he could perceive the horrendous thing happening in the slums. People were robbing others , some were being molested in corners and always, others were killing others over loafs of bread.

" No matter where you go, the law of the jungle huh. Even in an empire so properous on the surface, some are living their lives as though they are in hell, whiles the powerful are enjoying the resources at the top"

The law of the jungle really reigned supreme in he universe.

The things he saw in the slums reinforced his belief to become extremely strong with each passing second.

" It may be the people in the slums suffering now. But to let’s say , a mid tier civilisation , those of us in the low tier civilisations are like those in the slums, enjoying mediocre privileges. The higher you rise, the higher your resources and advantages. If you remain at the bottom of the food chain ,you only become a prey destined to be consumed "

Kailen shook his head helplessly. The law of the jungle huh. A dog eat dog principle. He would only remain a prey to be consumed ,or he could assume the stance of a predator- a ruthless indiviual who struck fear into the hearts of those who deemed him a prey to be consumed,and step on their corpses to climb the ladder of this ruthless universe. As long as he could stand at the peak, and protect the people he cared about, Kailen would naturally accept this law of the jungle.

Just as Kailen was in his thoughts....

Suddenly...

He felt an extremely evil intent bear down on him.

The evil intent was accompanied by the screams of a woman .

Kailen turned to look in that direction-extremely pissed at whatever had directed this evil intent towards him.

What he saw left him utterly dumbstruck.

A feminine figure in a long black cloak covering her head could be seen with her hands on the neck of another fellow, a male figure.

The male figure started turning emaciated and old looking as their screams started to die down.

Very soon, the male figure had turned into something akin to a dry, husky version of a corpse in the hands of the cloaked female .

The female loosened her grip ,causing the corpse to slid limply across the wall to the ground.

" Ahhhhh... This feeling never gets old"

The cold feminine voice of the person in the cloak resounded in Kailen’s ears with fanatic euphoria.

The person licked their lips ,then turned to look at Kailen.
