Chapter 156: Change’s To The Body
"Hmmm... Is that really you, Adam?"
Minerva’s voice her thoughts out loudly as she stared at the figure before her.
It was hard to call him a boy anymore. Because what stood before her now was something else entirely.
Both monsterous and wrong looking.
Before leaving she had made sure of that every bone in his body had been broken, not just for the pain, but to make the healing, or rather the learning process, harder and slower for a more refine result at the price of Suffering.
She knew he could recover from anything, so long as his heart remained intact. That was the key: his cursed gift interpreted even agony as training.
And for the past three months, this place had been relentless towards Adam as not a speck of reprieve or mercy was given to him.
For those 104 days, just gravity so dense it folded can fold light was given to him.
Adam had been crushed beneath it over and over again.
Each time he healed, the planet broke him anew. Again and again. Until his body, desperate to survive, adapted as result of learning how to survive this hellish landscape.
But not like a boy.
Not like a man.
It had to become something else entirely to strive in this place.
Now, standing before Minerva, Adam was unrecognizable in every sense of the word.
A warped exoskeleton of bone had burst through his flesh, twisting around his limbs like jagged armor. His bones no longer stayed inside, they grew outward, shielding what little human form remained.
Bone swords jutted from his forearms like serrated blades. Claws curled from his fingers, twitching with unnatural reflexes.
His face was hidden behind a grotesque bone mask, eye sockets glowing dimly with a cold, predatory light. Strands of black hair clung to the cracks between plates of bones.
Beneath the armor, his flesh pulsed unnaturally, shifting, squirming, as if his muscles and organs were rearranging themselves inside.
And that was exactly what was happening.
Meanwhile twin horns curled from his skull giving him a rather demonic appearance, even his voice in this weird form had a reverberating echo to it now.
"So this is what your body came up with for an answer to the intense gravity of the planet, huh?! Damn... that’s scary as hell, you ugly, but also efficient. Still, looks like it hurts like a sonuvabitch though."
She bluntly said, to which Adam annoyed voice his complains.
"Of course it fucking hurts. I can’t even explain it properly... but somehow, I learned how to dismantle and rebuild my body according to my will. And before I knew it, this was the form my body settled on to survive the gravity of this damn planet."
Adam bluntly said, to which Minerva then asked.
"Heh, that sounds like somethin straight outta a damn horror flick. So, what all can you do with that freakshow body of yours now?"
Minerva asked, her voice laced with curiosity, eyes narrowing as she tried to gauge just what Adam was now capable of.
Adam didn’t answer right away.
He simply stared at his bone-covered hands, silent for a moment.
Then, slowly, he raised one toward the sky.
Above them, the stars shone with cold clarity, scattered across the void. There was no atmosphere here, as such no haze, or no clouds; just the blackness of space, raw and endless. That absence of air made what came next horrifyingly visible.
It began without warning.
Like a shaken bottle of coke ready to explode, his raised right hand ruptured outward with a wet, sickening sound.
Flesh tore open in every direction of it’s being crack the bone armor it resides with like an egg, erupting with sinew, fat, veins, arteries, and shards of bone.
The eruption climbed skyward at a terrifying pace, fueled by his regeneration, as he manipulated the course of it, but this wasn’t healing. This was meant for construction.
His body had learned to dismantle and reforge itself, as such he could control his body material to a great degree if it’s revolves around destroying and rebuilding it.
The organic matter twisted and compressed, veins coiling around muscle, sinew weaving like cables, flesh stretching like rubber under pressure.
Bones shot upward and began encasing the grotesque mass, layer by layer, until the structure solidified into something monstrous.
A club, a giant fleshy and boney club.
It was a towering weapon made entirely from his own biomass. It stood like a pillar of death, rising four miles into the sky, packed with horrifying density.
The very ground below seemed to tremble beneath its weight.
And yet, Adam held it effortlessly, like it was no heavier than a branch.
The planet’s crushing gravity no longer mattered at this moment either.
Minerva looked at this with a surprise looked.
"Now that’s what I’m talkin about! Hahaha! You finally look like a proper Shinso with that freakshow body of yours, boy. Now c’mon...hit me with it. I wanna feel just how strong you really are, up close."
With those words said, Adam smiled behind his mask.
Without saying anything else, he swung down with his full power.
The club came down like the end of the world.
A a horrific sound followed, as it came crashing down.
Minerva didn’t move from where she stood, not yet atleast, a large shadow was cast upon her.
Her eyes tracked the descent, unfazed. She then raised a single hand, to destroy and to feel the power behind it.
And then...
Her hands burst into a sea of spreading flames.
And it goes without saying that the club finally hit, creating a massive earthquake that could be felt more many miles on end.
And giant crater form, but was the weight sank deeper, a violent flames spread quickly across the club of flesh and bones.
Intense heat build up to the point all the mass suddenly vanished in matter of seconds.
Utterly erased from existence, as not even ashes remain on the scene.
Adam staggered a step backward, the shock of the recoil shivering through his mutated frame, before the fire started to erase his flesh.
Naturally he detach his flesh from the burning club but the bones along his arm cracked, splintering as the force rebounded back into him.
Minerva finally moved.
She lowered her hand, letting the last remnants of the flame flicker out. Her palm smoked as she exhaled through her nose, she was clearly calm in this moment.
As she looked at mutated Adam and said.
"Not bad."
She said, glancing at the blackened skin of her hand, as her own attack hurt her more than anything else.
"That swing had enough force behind it to split a giant mountain in two, completely obliterating it. Hell, it might’ve shaken the human empire if it got a chance to even land properly, causing the continent to ruptured all over, albeit judging by the force of the attack it would have at best only do surface damage at large scale due to the shockwaves."
Adam didn’t answer right away.
His body was still adjusting, trying to piece itself back together. The armor along his arms writhed, retracting into place.
"You’re still holding back."
He muttered, voice quiet behind the bone, clearly disappointed by the fact.
Minerva gave a short laugh and took a step forward.
"Of course I am. You would die otherwise."
She didn’t say it like an insult.
Rather it was a fact, but it was heartbreaking knowing her own fire hurt her more than his powerful swing.
And Minerva could feel his disappointment, as such she said to cheer him up.
"That swing? Not bad at all. Your body’s learnin fast, and your reflexes are snappin sharp, and you’re finally gettin a grip on your power. Feelin out the edge, learnin how to push past it; yeah, that’s good shit. So quit sulkin boy. You’re plenty damn strong for your age, don’t let that slip past you."
Minerva said to the sulking Adam, on that note however Adam inwardly sighed.
As his monsterous looking bone form began to fade away, as he rebuild his humanoid body.
The way it was prior to now.
"Still, I can’t even scratch you, and that just unmotivating with all that hard work I have been doing as of lately, sigh, but your right big sis, I will stay positive. But enough of me, where too now, I feel like I got plenty of strong over the last few months."
Minerva walk up to Adam, then past him as portal open up before them.
She then looked at Adam while saying.
"Now that you got that tougher body, let’s get our hands dirty, huh? C’mon boy, follow me. Time you learned how things really work with monsterfolk, the way dominance runs the show. I’m takin you somewhere deep in our home world, where the strong don’t ask, they just take. It’s about time we thin that morality of yours a bit."
Adam suddenly had a bad feeling about this, but followed suit regardless.
As such he followed Minerva across the portal, completely unaware as to where they are going.
But he knew this wasn’t going to be easy.
This training alone felt like it almost killed him, now they where going back to their home world immediately after.
’What the hell are you even planning big sis?!’
Adam asked himself, a little scared to what suffering Minerva plan to put him through now.
