Chapter 141: Take Me With You
With a wave of his wand, James pulled off the mask from the man's face.
This one yelped in pain before going back to covering his bleeding shoulder.
"P-please, don't kill me…" the man begged. He didn't even make an attempt to pull his wand out.
James stared at the face of this person for a few seconds. "Okay, I give up… who the hell are you?"
"Rosier… Evan Rosier…"
" Rosier, right. I suppose that makes sense. And by your age… you must be the son of the previous Lord. The one I killed." James saw the man flinch at the mention of the murder.
Evan Rosier clenched his teeth. "Y-yes… you killed my father."
"I understand now. You must be the current Lord of the house. And the one who put a bounty on me for revenge. Ten thousand galleons were very generous. You must really hate me."
"If… if you let me go, I promise to remove the bounty. Please… don't—"
"Let me stop you there and save your breath." James pulled a green colored potion from his robes and handed it over to the man on the ground.
This one took it by reflex, wondering what he had just been given. "Poison?... You expect me to drink this?"
"It's a healing potion. For your shoulder. You don't want to bleed out in this rundown shack, do you?" James asked.
The man stared at James with pure shock in his eyes. "Are you really not going to kill me?..." He found it hard to believe. This person who had shown no mercy to his father was now willing to let him go after what he did.
Unfortunately for Evan Rosier, he was not able to see through James' intentions and quickly drank the potion. The only reason he was being allowed to live was because James had a use for him.
The effects were immediate. Evan's expression changed to one of relief as he felt the pain go away.
"Thank you," he hurried to say. "I promise you th—" His words froze in his mouth when he saw that James was pointing his wand directly at him.
"Imperio." As James spoke the name of the Unforgivable Curse, Evan Rosier's eyes lost all their luster, becoming glazed over and lifeless.
"Hello, Evan. Are you going to behave properly and follow?"
all my commands?."
"Yes…" Evan said in a tone lacking all emotion, like he was in a sort of trance.
"Tell me… is your family all at home tonight?" James asked.
"Except for my cousin Felix, yes," Evan responded without hesitation.
James nodded. This was more than what he expected already. "How many are there?"
"Eight," Evan said.
"Any children?" James added another question.
"No…" Evan said. He was already one of the youngest. Only his cousin Felix, who was in his early thirties, was younger than him.
"Has your family already sided with the Dark Lord?" James asked.
Evan seemed to visibly fight the curse for a few seconds but ultimately was unable to resist it. "Yes… we are all loyal to our Lord."
"Good, that makes things easier. Do you have a portkey that would take you back home?" James knew that all these wizards and witches from important families always carried an emergency portkey that would take them directly into their family manor.
"Yes…" As expected, Evan Rosier responded affirmatively.
James walked closer and made a gesture to Nyxaris so she would return into her ring form. Then, he got to Evan Rosier's side and grabbed onto his arm.
"Use the portkey. Let's go home."
Evan's hands trembled as he took out a small pendant that was hanging from his neck. This one had the symbol of his family.
Evan held it in his trembling hands, still trying to fight the curse.
"Activate the portkey, Evan… don't make me wait." James' words were too much for the man at his side. His mental defenses were not enough to resist any longer.
"Rose Tree," Evan spoke the keywords in a soft tone, and the portkey in his hands became active, taking them both away.
They reappeared inside a large, elegant hall, filled with fancy pieces of furniture and a massive glass chandelier hanging over their heads.
"Nice place. Is this the main family manor?" James asked.
"It is," Evan Rosier answered while beads of sweat were falling across his face.
James nodded. "Very well." He placed his right hand on the man's head.
At his will, the silver bracelet changed shape and formed a long sharp blade that went straight through Evan Rosier's skull, killing him instantly.
"I'm sure Andromeda won't be too sad to find out that her ex-fiancé is now dead," James commented while staring at the body of the large forty-year-old man on the ground.
Now he had to hurry, as he wasn't sure if the other occupants of the house had noted his arrival.
James promptly called for his creations. "Nyxaris, Primum, Tertivor."
The creatures emerged at his command.
"There are eight targets in this manor. Find them and kill them."
The three of them rushed out of the door, and James soon followed them.
Fifteen minutes later, James was standing outside the Rosier property.
The family was not able to put up much of a fight under the assault of the creatures he created. James himself did not even need to lift a single finger.
After all, those wizards and witches weren't veteran fighters or anything of the sort. Just old folk too set in their ancient ways, who sided with the wrong person.
'The Blacks are on my side and the Rosiers are now essentially gone,' James thought.
One by one, he was going to take away all of Voldemort's followers until he had nothing.
But more importantly…
James glanced down at the stone in his hand. Its color had turned into a vibrant crimson tone and was brimming with magical energy.
"The Philosopher's Stone is finally complete…"
Now he was done with the hunting part, at least for now...and was very glad for that.
Killing was not something he enjoyed doing, and he only did it out of necessity.
These men and women he killed today would have gone on to become Death Eaters and massacre countless muggles in the name of Voldemort. The world is better without them.
"One last thing to do, I suppose." His amber eyes observed the house of the Rosier family. His wand aimed directly at it.
He had been very careful, but it would still be a big risk to leave everything as it was.
"Better not to take any chances…" Dark sparks of flame manifested before him.
"Fiendfyre."
