Chapter 784
Chapter 784: Chapter 784
The second day.
Five in the morning.
Yang Fan, still deeply immersed in a pleasant dream with beauties on both sides, was rudely awakened by a phone call from Wang Daqiang.
He turned over and withdrew his hand from Yun Miaoyi’s incredibly soft embrace, grabbed the phone, and groggily asked, "What is it?"
"Fanzi, isn’t it about time for us to head out?" Wang Daqiang shouted over the phone.
Yang Fan paused for a good moment before finally recalling what it was about.
Last night, he’d told Wang Daqiang about today’s plan to pick up some goods—scheduled for this morning.
He glanced at his phone screen; it read ten past five.
"My dear man, it’s barely five! What are you up to?" Yang Fan asked helplessly.
"You didn’t give me an exact time, so I figured... why not go early?" Wang Daqiang replied sheepishly.
"So what you mean is... it’s too early? Then go back to sleep, I’ll head out later."
Being woken up had left Yang Fan wide awake. He rubbed his eyes and said, "Forget it, since you’re already up, there’s no use waiting. Let me freshen up. Damn, you’re scarily enthusiastic—at five in the morning, no less!"
"If you’d explained properly how to handle things, I’d have gone alone. You could’ve rested peacefully while I took care of the legwork. Damn it, you saved my lousy life twice already—how could I not take this seriously?" Wang Daqiang said firmly.
"Alright, alright, no need to bring that up. Give me a moment," said Yang Fan.
He liked people to remember his favors but wasn’t fond of them constantly verbalizing it.
Fan Sisi and Yun Miaoyi sat up on the bed one after the other.
In the dimly lit room, with only a single nightlight turned on, the room was instantly filled with stunning springtime beauty.
Fan Sisi rubbed her tousled hair. "Fanzi, who is it?"
"Old Wang," Yang Fan replied casually as he got out of bed. "You guys keep sleeping. We’re going to pick up goods."
"I want to go too!" Fan Sisi mumbled groggily.
"What are you going for? You’re not even fully awake," Yang Fan chuckled.
"Wait for me. I want to go too. Staying here every day is so boring," Fan Sisi muttered, her eyes shut tight. Yet she rolled naked off the bed, stumbling her way into the bathroom.
Yun Miaoyi’s head nodded sluggishly as she mumbled, "Then I’ll go too... Hmm? Where are my slippers?"
Her eyes remained tightly shut as she fumbled around the floor for ages but still couldn’t find the slippers sitting right next to her feet. In the end, she walked barefoot into the bathroom.
Yang Fan shook his head helplessly.
What a mess without any real crime.
Surprisingly, the two of them got ready rather quickly. By the time they emerged from the bathroom, they were fully awake.
The two completely ignored Yang Fan. Without a single piece of clothing on, they playfully squabbled while getting dressed.
Yang Fan watched with amusement, waiting until they were fully clothed and the beautiful scenery vanished before heading off to freshen up himself.
Good thing he’d eaten heartily last night; otherwise, after the earlier scene, he’d surely have felt the need to *do something*.
Once he was ready, they went to the restaurant for a quick breakfast, and the four of them set off, taking advantage of the morning light.
The location Zhou Yingnan had shared was pretty remote, deep in the mountains. The navigation showed it would take over an hour to get there.
With not much to do during the ride, Yang Fan took out the Wooden Sword, staring at it with intense focus yet again.
Over the past few days, whenever he had spare time, he’d take it out to study.
But the results weren’t great.
While it wasn’t entirely unfruitful, it came pretty close to that.
Only once had he felt, however faintly, as though his consciousness had touched the Wooden Sword.
But that moment was fleeting—just a split second.
Afterward, try as he might, he couldn’t recapture that sensation.
Driving, Wang Daqiang couldn’t help but ask curiously after glancing at Yang Fan, who stared fixedly at the Wooden Sword all the way, "Fanzi, what are you glued to that Wooden Sword for? Is it something special?"
"Hmm..." Yang Fan came to his senses abruptly. "Hmm, I’m studying how to make this thing real!"
"What?" Wang Daqiang glanced at Yang Fan in shock, "You’re practicing Stone to Gold?"
Yang Fan froze for a second.
This guy sure had some wild imagination.
"Eyes on the road, eyes on the road," Yang Fan reminded.
Wang Daqiang quickly turned his gaze back to the road ahead but still exclaimed, "Does such a thing as Stone to Gold really exist?"
"If it exists, I wouldn’t know. But I can’t do it. I was joking," Yang Fan said.
"I’m just pondering how I can make this thing as sharp as a real sword."
He needed an excuse to cover. Wang Daqiang knew some of his secrets; if Yang Fan didn’t come up with a plausible reason, who knows what kind of ideas this guy might end up with.
"Making it as sharp as a real sword... Well, that does sound pretty challenging," Wang Daqiang said. "But I’ve tested the wood on this sword before; it’s not your average hardness. If you embed a piece of quality steel inside, maybe it could really match a real sword."
"No, no, doing that would cause it to layer. If you can eliminate that layer effect, it might actually work."
"Fanzi, this thing must be your Magic Artifact, right?"
Yang Fan didn’t deny it.
Wang Daqiang’s mind went into overdrive as he muttered, "A hard Wooden Sword as sharp as a real one would surely need some extra materials. The crucial thing would be refining the edge..."
"Fanzi, you guys in your line of work should know about the Mind, right?"
Yang Fan stared at Wang Daqiang in astonishment. "You know about this too?"
The words "Mind" coming from Wang Daqiang’s mouth were beyond Yang Fan’s expectations.
"Why wouldn’t I know about it? It’s on TV all the time. What’s that show called again... Ah, I can’t recall it right now, but I used to love watching it. It’s that show where a bunch of extraordinary individuals perform supernatural acts," Wang Daqiang explained.
"I remember one guy with a huge beard—he stacked over ten knives together and used his Mind to transform them into one blade. Then there were others controlling objects, stimulating seed growth, and all sorts of bizarre stuff. On that stage, besides their transformations, the Mind seemed to be the most prominent thing."
"If those foreigners can do it, I bet what you’re learning must be way deeper. Why don’t you try using the Mind? Maybe you really could transform this Wooden Sword into a real one."
"If unconventional methods don’t work, then the only thing left would be embedding quality steel into the wood. I can’t think of another way," he added.
Yang Fan stared at the talkative Wang Daqiang in surprise, as if something flashed across his mind.
"How did those people do it on that TV show?" Yang Fan asked.
Looks like he should find time to watch TV.
How had he not known about this?
"How would I know? All I saw was them staring at their target, like you were just now, and then slowly, those things really transformed," Wang Daqiang said. "Especially the guy with the big beard—I remember him vividly."
"Those knives, stacked neatly together, slowly started merging. Even the transparent box holding them transformed into something close to a steel-like material."
