Happy Little Farmer -
Chapter 762
Chapter 762: Chapter 762
Ji Dong’er stepped down from the car, greeted Yang Fan, and hurried away like a shy young bride.
Fan Sisi and Yun Miaoyi, one on each side, supported Yang Fan as their eyes followed Ji Dong’er’s figure all the way until she disappeared around the corner of the street. Only then did they look away.
"Fanzi, you... seem pretty busy, huh." Fan Sisi said with a heavy tone of jealousy.
"You got yourself into this mess after running into a ghost, and yet you still have such a cute little girl staying by your side. Also, your taste seems to have taken a strange turn—though she dresses quite maturely, is she even an adult?"
"She should... be an adult, right?" Yang Fan replied.
Ji Dong’er’s age wasn’t calculated like a normal person’s.
She simply retained the appearance she had when she passed away, but if her actual age was counted, she’d be in her early twenties.
"Should? That ’should’ carries a lot of doubt, huh?" Fan Sisi’s face fell.
If Yang Fan hadn’t been this injured, she might have already exploded in anger.
Yang Fan snapped back to reality and laughed, "What are you two thinking? It’s not what you’re imagining at all. Do you even know who she is?"
"Who?" Fan Sisi asked, "Does she have some special status? Even if she does, the fact remains—she’s underage and she’s hanging around you. Isn’t that true?"
Yang Fan shook his head with a helpless smile, "She’s the River God."
"What, what?" Fan Sisi’s eyes widened sharply.
"The River God!"
Fan Sisi and Yun Miaoyi froze simultaneously.
"Fanzi, when you say River God, you mean river as in big river and god as in divine being, right?" Fan Sisi asked in disbelief.
Yang Fan nodded, "She’s the New River Water God, also known as the River God."
Fan Sisi let out a soft gasp, held her forehead, and quickly turned her head to look at the corner where Ji Dong’er had disappeared. "Did I wake up too abruptly today? I can’t believe I actually saw a god... Fanzi, are you trying so hard to cover up your relationship with her that you made up some divine identity to mess with us?"
"Do I look like the kind of person who’d do that? Even your grandfather knows about her. If you don’t believe me, you can go and verify it yourself," Yang Fan said.
"But for now, maybe don’t ask. They’re a bit tied up brawling at the moment, probably too busy to explain these things to you."
Fan Sisi swallowed cautiously, "Alright... I believe you, but, a god..."
Yun Miaoyi nervously asked, "Fanzi, since she’s a Water God, shouldn’t we light some incense or candles to honor her?"
"Don’t mess around." Yang Fan quickly stopped Yun Miaoyi’s wild idea.
"I don’t know how she interacts with people normally, but treating her with a casual attitude should be enough. You’ll probably meet her plenty in the future, so just treat her like a regular person."
"If you start pulling out incense and candles for her, now that would genuinely be terrifying."
Just imagining that scene made Yang Fan’s scalp tingle.
"Fanzi, you’re impressive now, huh? Even making friends with gods," Fan Sisi said in disbelief, staring at Yang Fan and muttering, "This whole thing... how should I put it? It’s kind of scary."
"This truly is an uncanny world. I’m genuinely intrigued now. I want to learn about this, I must learn! You only live once, and I feel like I’ve already seen enough of the mortal world—I want to see more."
Yun Miaoyi forced a smile and chimed in, "Fanzi, me too..."
"This world sounds truly thrilling and magical."
"Thrilling? Well, it’s certainly thrilling," Yang Fan said, "But I advise you to think it over carefully. Such thrill can legitimately cost your life. If Ji Dong’er hadn’t shown up in time today, I’d be dead by now. You two would probably have to burn all the stuff you prepared for me and then mourn me as widows."
"And you wouldn’t be able to find new partners too soon either. In the first seven years, I would definitely stick around you both. If you rushed into new relationships, I’d definitely be upset."
Fan Sisi clamped her hand over Yang Fan’s mouth, "Pah, what kind of nonsense are you talking about? Can’t you say something positive?"
"Everything will be fine; everything will turn out okay. You’ll live a long and happy life."
Yang Fan chuckled, unable to speak properly behind her hand, "Let me just ask—you scared or not?"
"Shut up already," Fan Sisi scolded playfully.
Yun Miaoyi reached out and lightly touched the layers upon layers of bandages on Yang Fan and remarked, "Fanzi, in your current state, it looks like you won’t be able to use the things we prepared..."
Yang Fan’s gaze dimmed, and he waved it off, "Another day, then. Not today for sure."
Wang Daqiang’s fate was still uncertain. So many people had been turned into the puppets of that strange woman. He truly didn’t have the mood to fuss over this situation today—he simply didn’t care.
"No matter what, such things can be done anytime. For now, focus on recovering," Fan Sisi said.
"Yeah."
The two women helped Yang Fan into the farm restaurant and settled him on the bed in one of the rooms.
"Rest well. You’ve been in a fight and ended up like this—you must be starving. I’ll stay here and keep you company, while Yun Miaoyi goes to prepare something nourishing for you," Fan Sisi said softly.
"Earlier, we joked around inappropriately because I didn’t want you to brood so much. But seriously, don’t push yourself so hard all the time. If it’s too much to handle, retreat instead of charging ahead."
"Better to live to fight another day. Even if you don’t care about yourself, at least think about us and your family. If anything were to happen to you, we’d be left behind for someone else to take!"
"Just imagine, all of us lying on someone else’s bed with not a stitch of clothing—doesn’t the thought upset you?"
Yang Fan quickly raised his hand to interrupt Fan Sisi’s train of thought, "Alright, stop. I already feel awful enough as it is."
This level of emotional damage was something no man could withstand.
Except perhaps for those with a particular, peculiar taste.
"As long as you’re aware, don’t brush it off as nothing and keep charging recklessly whenever trouble arises." Fan Sisi huffed lightly and teased, "Rest up. I’ll go prepare dinner for you."
"Okay."
Fan Sisi left the room.
Yang Fan lay on the bed for a while, his mind teeming with countless chaotic thoughts that made it impossible to stay still.
Finally, he decided to get up, "Miaoyi, could you grab the unfinished wooden swords I was working on earlier? I’ll keep myself occupied with those."
"You’re this injured, and you still can’t behave? Just lie down," Yun Miaoyi said, putting down her phone.
"My arms still work—it’s no big deal. Lying down just makes my thoughts spiral. Doing something simple will help me distract myself," Yang Fan explained, "I’ll take it slow, just passing the time."
