Chapter 728
Chapter 728: Chapter 728
Yang Fan actually kept his promise and didn’t say a word to Fan Sisi.
But what he didn’t mention was that Fan Sisi was sitting right next to him, leaning in to eavesdrop on Yang Fan’s conversation with Mr. Fan.
Every single word of their conversation landed in Fan Sisi’s ears without missing a beat.
"My grandpa actually has five million?" Fan Sisi exclaimed in shock. "I had no idea! The old man’s been hiding so much from me!"
"Your grandpa has five million, and I’m not surprised, but you are?!" Yang Fan sounded a bit astonished himself.
Given Mr. Fan’s status and abilities, accumulating a fortune of five million didn’t seem like it would be too difficult.
"How could I not be surprised? That’s five million! Fanzi, are you getting too carried away lately? Do you think five million is easy to earn?" Fan Sisi shouted in astonishment.
Yang Fan chuckled lightly, "Five million is definitely a tough number for me to reach. But for your grandpa, I don’t think it should be too hard. You just heard it yourself — he gets fifty thousand in rewards for doing something like this just once. At that rate, five million is just ten times of that."
"And besides, the reward comes with a condition — he’s only gathering intel, not solving the problem. If he were to fix the issue, the reward amount might double, wouldn’t it?"
"But opportunities like that can’t be frequent, right?" Fan Sisi replied.
Yang Fan shook his head, "That I couldn’t say for sure, I’m only guessing. But from my perspective, earning five million shouldn’t be too challenging for your grandpa."
He had compared Mr. Fan to Wei Jin in his mind, whose net worth was in the tens of millions.
Even so, Wei Jin’s capabilities seemed far inferior to Mr. Fan in Yang Fan’s view.
"Alright, when you put it that way, it does kind of make sense," Fan Sisi muttered. "My grandpa has really hidden things well. He’s kept all this completely from his granddaughter; I didn’t even know a thing."
"Fanzi, that’s five million, you know. Are you really willing to let it go? Losing me wouldn’t hurt you much — you’ve got a few more girlfriends, so it’s not like it would be a big deal. Suddenly being rich wouldn’t be so bad, right?"
Yang Fan shot a sidelong glance at Fan Sisi, "So you agree? If you do, it’s definitely no problem for me!"
"But let me make one thing clear first — though I do have several close female friends, feelings don’t work that way. It’s not about losing you being no big deal or anything like that. In these matters, you can’t do math. Forget five million — even if it were fifty million, I wouldn’t trade you."
Under the dappled sunlight, the glimmer in Fan Sisi’s eyes suddenly trembled intensely. "Fanzi, you don’t seem like someone cut out to be devoted..."
"I know, I don’t deserve that word," Yang Fan said. "But that doesn’t stop me from taking matters of the heart seriously, wouldn’t you agree?"
Fan Sisi nodded heavily, her gaze quietly growing much warmer.
Suddenly, she let out a soft whimper and dove into Yang Fan’s arms, pressing her head under his chin like a kitten. "Fanzi, you’ve completely melted my heart. In my eyes, you’re more of a man than any of those so-called devoted types."
Yang Fan smoothed down Fan Sisi’s silky hair and chuckled, "Please don’t say that. I’m afraid they’d gang up on me and beat me to death. If I get associated with the word ’devoted,’ it’d be a huge insult to them."
Fan Sisi giggled and peeked out the window. "What a shame there are so many people around. Otherwise, I’d throw myself at you right now, strip down, and use my fiery body to tenderly ignite yours — wouldn’t that be fitting?"
Yang Fan froze hard on the spot.
Damn, did this woman take the wrong medicine today?
Why is she flirting with no bounds?
"This morning you were yelling that you couldn’t take anymore, couldn’t take anymore, and if it kept going, it’d kill you. And now you’re back to being fine?" Yang Fan asked with a smirk, his hand quietly slipping under Fan Sisi’s clothes.
Fan Sisi’s beautiful eyes darted mischievously, and she giggled softly, "Morning was morning, but now I still want to. Then I’ll keep shouting that I can’t take anymore, can’t take anymore, and if it keeps going, I’ll die. Hehe..."
"I really love this lively streak of yours," Yang Fan said, giving a firm squeeze and laughing.
Fan Sisi rested her forehead against Yang Fan’s chin and tilted her head to look at him. "Is that why you’re unwilling to exchange me for five million? If that’s the case, you might be losing out a bit."
"Do you think I’m that shallow? What’s going on in your head? If it were just about being flirtatious, would that be worth five million? Of course, it’s because it’s you, silly." Yang Fan replied irritably.
He felt this needed to be explained clearly, so Fan Sisi wouldn’t overthink it.
Fan Sisi giggled, "I know, I know! I was just joking."
"How come there are still so many people outside? If we don’t get a chance to enjoy ourselves, it’s such a letdown."
Yang Fan pressed a hand against the restless Fan Sisi. "Just hold back for now. Don’t act rashly at a time like this. The Yun Family members drop by every now and then. If they catch us, it’s not them I’d be worried about — your grandpa would definitely kill the both of us."
Fan Sisi curled her lips with a hint of grievance and softly murmured her agreement, nestling into Yang Fan’s arms like a lazy cat.
"Since we can’t have fun with people, then find something else to play with..."
Her words sounded contradictory, but Yang Fan knew exactly what she meant.
If they couldn’t "play with people," then she meant tackling something more specific.
Just then, Yun Miaoyi strolled in lightly.
She glanced at where Yang Fan’s hand was resting and blushed slightly. "You two aren’t worried about being seen by others?"
"If it’s just you seeing, that’s fine. If someone else came in, I definitely wouldn’t be this calm," Yang Fan replied.
Yun Miaoyi laughed, shaking her head. "I’ve got something important. Do you have time to take a look at it now?"
"What is it?" Yang Fan asked.
Yun Miaoyi said, "I’ve reached out to a few medicinal herb growers. Each of them has the herbs you need, but the quantities are pretty small. I looked into our local market prices and found their quotes to be a bit inflated. Do you want to go take a look?"
"Your efficiency is incredible. Of course, I’ll go take a look," Yang Fan exclaimed.
Yun Miaoyi had been busy with matters concerning her family’s ancestors for the last couple of days, handling all financial-related issues herself. And now, as soon as those matters were over, she had already contacted several herb growers. Her efficiency was off the charts.
The herbs specified in the contract had become highly sought-after this season. No matter how little was available, as long as it existed, Yang Fan had to check it out. After all, this was his main business — he couldn’t lose money here and try to earn it elsewhere.
Yun Miaoyi chuckled, "It’s just a matter of teamwork. Today I took the opportunity to chat with everyone, and by making a few phone calls here and there, I managed to contact several growers. There aren’t many people growing medicinal herbs around here, but in any group, there’s always at least one or two who know which households have bigger planting areas."
