Chapter 723: Chapter 723

When they arrived near Yun Miaoyi’s home, Mr. Fan finally put away his playful demeanor. His expression suddenly turned serious as he said to Yang Fan, "In a while, I need to leave for a bit and try to make it back by noon tomorrow. If I don’t return, stay with the Yun Family and keep them stable, ask them to wait for me. At the latest, I will return by tomorrow afternoon."

Mr. Fan’s abrupt change in attitude gave Yang Fan an immediate sense of unease. "Grandmaster, is this matter particularly difficult?"

Mr. Fan nodded, "I couldn’t explain earlier, but that locust tree has already merged with Li Mountain. Its roots act as eyes and ears wherever they reach. No one knows how far this thousand-year-old Tree Demon’s root system has extended. It could cover all of Li Mountain—or perhaps even further."

"We must prepare for the worst. Any breeze or rustle on this mountain could be under its watchful eyes. That cursed entity seems to be brewing something critical. It genuinely doesn’t have time to come after me now, but we can’t just let it go unchecked. If this thing isn’t eradicated soon, it will surely become a catastrophe. It has already gained significant power."

Yang Fan nodded solemnly, "What should I do next? Should we call the people from the mountain to come down?"

"For now, let’s leave it as it is," Mr. Fan said. "Or, you could oversee the burning of the Yun Family’s ancestor and have them invite another Fengshui Master to reinter the remains. If they agree to this, that would be ideal. If they don’t, then just wait for me to return. The situation is serious, but it hasn’t reached the point where we need to act in haste."

Yang Fan nodded, "I’ll go call Old Wang to take you out."

Mr. Fan waved his hand dismissively, "No need. The car is too slow. I have other methods. You go back first."

Yang Fan was curious about what kind of method Mr. Fan would use but refrained from asking more questions, knowing it wasn’t appropriate at this moment. Instead, he asked, "Grandmaster, should I tell the Yun Family the truth?"

"Absolutely not. Find another explanation. You’re skilled at that sort of thing," Mr. Fan said.

"I’ll be off now. If anything else comes up, I’ll notify you by phone."

Yang Fan nodded.

Mr. Fan waved his hand and walked slowly into the pitch-black night.

Without even using a flashlight, he plunged directly into the darkness and disappeared within moments.

Yang Fan’s curiosity was clawing at him like a restless cat. He envied that ability.

But no matter how hard he looked around, his limited eyesight couldn’t penetrate the darkness ahead. He had no idea what method Mr. Fan had employed.

Faster than a car—could the old man be flying?

With a mind full of doubts and curiosity, Yang Fan returned to Yun Miaoyi’s house.

It was already past four in the morning. Yun Miaoyi’s father hadn’t slept yet; he was sitting in the courtyard with a few of the Yun Family elders, idly drinking tea. The overhead light shone brightly, firmly separating them from the surrounding darkness.

When they saw Yang Fan return, covered in wounds, Yun Miaoyi’s father and the others hurriedly came over.

"Young Master Yang, what happened to you? Where’s Mr. Fan?" Yun Miaoyi’s father asked urgently, studying Yang Fan.

"This? It’s nothing—just some minor injuries," Yang Fan said nonchalantly, glancing down at his tattered clothes and faint bloodstains. "My master had other matters to attend to, so he left for now. He’ll try his best to return by tomorrow noon."

The Yun Family members exchanged puzzled glances. "Young Master Yang, let’s not discuss anything else for now. I’ll go find the village doctor to treat your wounds," Yun Miaoyi’s father said.

Although Yang Fan hadn’t sustained severe injuries, he had plenty.

His body was covered with bite marks from teeth and scratches from claws.

No matter how cautious he was amidst the mystery, Yang Fan ultimately couldn’t handle so many attackers at once and had fallen victim to several tricks.

"No need for that trouble—just bring me some alcohol and iodine," Yang Fan waved his hand, declining Yun Miaoyi’s father’s kind offer, and said with a faint smile, "It may look slightly messy, but these are superficial wounds, nothing serious."

"I’m just worried about the risk of infection. These injuries... might not be entirely normal," Yun Miaoyi’s father said vaguely. He knew what Yang Fan and Mr. Fan had gone to the mountain for but didn’t spell it out.

"It’s fine," Yang Fan replied with a light smile.

The teeth and claws of those eerie creatures were indeed filthy and could cause widespread infections, but medicine was ineffective.

For an ordinary person, even a single bite would lead to fever, unconsciousness, or, at worst, death. However, with Yang Fan’s Inner Qi, the toxins carried by those supernatural entities had already been expelled from his body. Now, only scars remained, which wouldn’t pose any major threat to him.

"Alright, I’ll go find some supplies," Yun Miaoyi’s father said. Seeing Yang Fan’s insistence, he didn’t persist further and hurried back to the house.

As he went inside, Fan Sisi and Yun Miaoyi emerged from the room.

At this hour, the two of them still hadn’t gone to bed.

"Why are you still awake?" Yang Fan asked.

Fan Sisi yawned and said, "You and my grandpa went up the mountain in the middle of the night. How could we sleep? By the way, where’s my grandpa?"

"He went out on some business," Yang Fan replied.

"What happened to you?" As she approached, Fan Sisi noticed the dense wounds covering Yang Fan’s body.

Yang Fan smiled lightly and shook his head, "It’s nothing, just minor injuries."

"Does it hurt?" Fan Sisi asked, biting her lip, her face filled with concern.

Yang Fan’s battered appearance had her feeling overwhelmed with sympathy.

"It hurt when I got bitten, but it doesn’t feel like much now," Yang Fan said. "Just minor injuries; don’t worry."

"And my grandpa...?" Fan Sisi looked at Yang Fan with worry.

"He’s perfectly fine," Yang Fan said, smirking. "Not a scratch on him."

Fan Sisi let out a sigh of relief. "Is the situation troublesome?"

"A little," Yang Fan admitted.

At this moment, Yun Miaoyi’s father returned, carrying a medical kit.

"Sir, give that to me—I’ll handle it," Fan Sisi said, taking the kit from Yun Miaoyi’s father. She then turned to Yang Fan, "Let’s go back to the room and take care of your injuries. You’ve got so many wounds; the courtyard isn’t a convenient place."

"Hold on—I have something to say first," Yang Fan raised his hand to stop Fan Sisi, then turned to the Yun Family members.

"If all goes well, my master should be back by tomorrow noon, but he suggested that you prepare a backup option—invite another Fengshui Master, just in case. If he doesn’t return, it could delay your family’s matters."

"By tomorrow noon, if my master hasn’t returned, I’ll oversee the burning process. But as for assessing Feng Shui and determining burial sites, I’m not skilled in those areas, so you’ll need to find someone else for that."

After a brief discussion among themselves, Yun Miaoyi’s father said, "We’ll follow your master’s advice. We know of a Mr. Gao in the area who’s quite skilled in this. I’ll go invite him over once it’s daylight."
