Chapter 713: Chapter 713

Yang Fan and the other two were finally rescued.

The search party was enormous, with flashlight beams sweeping across the mountains and fields.

Yang Fan couldn’t count how many people there were, but it looked like there must’ve been at least two or three hundred.

"Master, this kind of turnout is a bit intimidating. Wouldn’t it be rude not to invite the villagers for a meal and some drinks?" Yang Fan whispered to Mr. Fan beside him.

"If you’re willing, hosting a meal isn’t a bad idea," Mr. Fan replied. "I don’t even know where exactly you all got lost. If we didn’t mobilize the entire village to search, how could we have found you with just a few people?"

"You three are really lucky. Falling into such a deep pit without a scratch—unbelievable."

"It truly was luck. The decomposed soil below is very thick," Yang Fan said. "If not for the soil absorbing the impact of our fall, Old Master, you might’ve ended up losing both your precious granddaughter and your prized disciple at the same time."

"Speaking of that, I don’t believe I’ve even settled accounts with you yet," Mr. Fan suddenly glared fiercely at Yang Fan. "I told you just to scout the mountain—why did you have to bring Sisi along?"

"Master, you’ve got to let me explain myself here," Yang Fan responded seriously. "I also thought these dense, remote woods weren’t very suitable for a young girl. But Sisi insisted on coming along, wanting to see the sights, and I couldn’t stop her."

"Sisi isn’t a three- or four-year-old child. I couldn’t just forcibly send her back, so I had no choice but to bring her along."

"That still sounds like your fault!" Mr. Fan bellowed angrily.

Yang Fan nodded slightly, choosing not to argue further. "I accept that—it was truly a close call."

Mr. Fan huffed loudly. "Sisi must’ve grown those big eyes for nothing. I can’t fathom what she sees in you."

"Master, now that’s a little uncalled for. Let’s not go overboard, alright? You should be thankful your beloved granddaughter and disciple are still alive and well," Yang Fan said. "Besides, if you show a better attitude, I might even share a secret with you."

"Go on, get out of here! I’m not interested in your so-called secret," Mr. Fan retorted dismissively.

Yang Fan shrugged. "Alright then, I won’t say anything. But this secret is really, really valuable."

Mr. Fan stared at Yang Fan with a blank expression. "Alright, spit it out already."

Yang Fan: ???

Old man, what in the...

"Master, you have to agree to my terms first," Yang Fan grinned mischievously.

"Talk already! Stop beating around the bush. At most, I’ll stop opposing your relationship with Sisi. But don’t you dare think about anything beyond that," Mr. Fan huffed again. "Don’t push your luck, kid. I’m not just your master; I’m also Sisi’s biological grandfather."

"If I decide to stake my reputation, there’s no way you and Sisi would ever be together."

Yang Fan chuckled lightly. "Then you’ll lose your granddaughter."

"Enough nonsense—get to the point!" Mr. Fan barked.

Yang Fan glanced around, then pulled Mr. Fan aside before whispering mysteriously, "Master, do you know what they said this place is called?"

"Siwa Cave," Mr. Fan replied impatiently. "What exactly are you trying to say?"

"Master, don’t rush," Yang Fan said. "Siwa Cave... Is it the ’Siwa’ as in silk stockings? What kind of ridiculous name is that?"

"Stockings? What kind of nonsense is in your head? It’s ’Siwa’ as in ’dead child’! This cave was used for burying dead children," Mr. Fan said disdainfully. "In the past, when infant mortality rates were high, every now and then a child would pass away. But there wasn’t always a proper way to bury them, so people would wrap up the bodies and clean them as best they could before gently suspending them in this cave as a form of burial."

"But there were also some heartless parents who treated deceased infants as garbage, simply tossing them into the cave to get it over with. You’ve been wandering through different villages all this time, haven’t you heard of this before? Nearly every place has a so-called ’child disposal site’; the names just differ."

"Hiss... Holy crap!" Yang Fan gasped. "So that’s why it’s called Siwa Cave."

"Although I’ve been to many places, I honestly didn’t know about this. Even the term is something I’m hearing for the first time."

"That’s understandable. In your generation, it’s rare to see children pass away anymore," Mr. Fan said. "Now get to the point—don’t keep stringing me along, or I might really kill you."

"Wait, wait, Master, I have one more little question," Yang Fan said. "I promise that once you hear the secret I’m about to share, you might start treating me like your own son."

"You’ve got some nerve," Mr. Fan scoffed. "Fine, ask your question."

"Since this is a place for discarding children, why is it that when I was down there, I couldn’t feel even the slightest trace of resentful energy? It was completely clean—nothing at all," Yang Fan asked.

Mr. Fan furrowed his brow. "That’s impossible. This is a Jiyin Land, and it was used to bury deceased infants. How could there be no traces of resentful energy? This place should be overwhelmingly eerie. Did you misjudge?"

Yang Fan shook his head resolutely. "Master, I triple-checked. I’ve practically kept my Heavenly Eye Technique open the whole time—it’s absolutely impossible that I saw it wrong."

Mr. Fan looked puzzled. "Weird. This place shouldn’t be this clean. Could it be due to the terrain? No, no—this is a Jiyin Land, deep underground and shaded by thick layers of foliage above. Logically, it should be even more ominous."

"Normally, such a place wouldn’t just be clean—it would actually nurture extremely strong resentful spirits."

Yang Fan suddenly recalled those two stone caves. "Could it have something to do with them?"

"What are you mumbling about?" Mr. Fan asked.

Yang Fan responded, "Master, do you think it’s possible that something here is suppressing or neutralizing the negative energy?"

"It’s possible," Mr. Fan nodded. "There are indeed ways to suppress or resolve such energies, but in a place like this, those methods would be rare. It would require a very unique terrain where natural forces neutralize each other—rarer than the odds of you having twins."

"It’s not natural," Yang Fan shook his head, lowering his voice as he leaned closer to Mr. Fan’s ear.

"When I was down there, I found two stone caves. They seem to have been left behind by an ancient cultivator, and the entrances are seeping with dense spiritual energy."

Mr. Fan’s eyes widened sharply, his expression stunned to the point where he seemed unsure of how to react.

"That’s the secret I wanted to tell you, Master. What do you think? Was it worth it?" Yang Fan asked with a smirk.

"...It’s worth it!" Mr. Fan replied through gritted teeth. "As much as I hate to admit it, it’s worth it. How did you get so ridiculously lucky, kid? Falling down but not dying is one thing—but now you’ve stumbled upon a treasure."

Yang Fan chuckled. "Good things happen to good people, right? Master, do you think these two stone caves might be the key to suppressing this cursed land?"
