Chapter 683
Chapter 683: Chapter 683
The landlady hadn’t returned from discussing with the two neighboring shops.
Yang Fan instructed the tea-serving girl to inform him as soon as Boss Zhu returned, then he didn’t continue the pleasant game he had just started but instead made a call to Mr. Fan.
Although this old gentleman verbally claimed he would help collect Yang Fan’s body, Yang Fan knew that Mr. Fan was definitely worried about his safety.
While reporting his safety, he also mentioned Lady Liu’s situation to him.
Yang Fan felt that Lady Liu would also want Mr. Fan to know of her existence.
No sooner had he dialed the number than Mr. Fan answered almost instantly, "You little brat, don’t rush me, I’m on my way. It’ll probably take another half an hour to get there. Just hang in there a little longer. I’ve told you, the matter you’re dealing with now can only rely on your own willpower. The help I can offer is not much. I’ll try my best to think of a solution from the outside, but there’s really limited extent to what I can do."
Yang Fan suddenly felt a surge of emotion in his heart—his teacher was truly a man with a sharp tongue but a soft heart.
All sorts of complaints every day, but when trouble arises, he’s faster to respond than anyone else.
Yang Fan smiled and said, "Master, you don’t need to worry; I’m fine. In fact, I’ve gained quite a bit of benefit."
"Benefit?" Mr. Fan’s voice suddenly rose, "You brat must have entered the Illusion Realm, haven’t you? First tell me how big of a benefit it is. Is there a beauty who insists on clinging to you? Or did you suddenly become successful and gain high rank and great wealth?"
"No!" Yang Fan said, "Master, I am quite certain that I have not fallen into the Illusion Realm."
"You’re certain of nothing! Right now, do as I say and draw blood from your forehead. If nothing around you changes, then talk to me. Whatever you’re saying right now might not be real. Even if you feel that the environment around you is utterly real and completely identical to the real world, that’s just your perception at this moment." Mr. Fan spoke sternly.
Yang Fan immediately became a bit hesitant, "But, I can still call you, doesn’t that explain something?"
"That explains nothing. Hurry up and stop wasting words, do as I tell you." Mr. Fan urged with some impatience.
"Alright."
Seeing this, Yang Fan could not say much else. He took out a small dagger he carried with him and, enduring the pain, made an incision on his forehead, hoping Lady Liu wouldn’t take offense to this.
Cutting oneself, a feat belonging to villains, really hurts.
For a moment, the pain caused Yang Fan to clench his teeth, grind his jaw, almost jumping on the spot.
As blood started flowing, Yang Fan suddenly felt a chill before his eyes.
But the scenery around him did not change at all, and the things he saw were still the same as before.
The ruler on the desk and the pair of embroidered shoes had not changed at all.
It was real, not some Illusion Realm.
"Master, there’s no change at all," Yang Fan reported.
"Really no change? Not even the slightest bit?" Mr. Fan asked, still somewhat uneasy.
Yang Fan nodded and said, "Master, truly no change. The things around me are still the same as before, even the steam rising from the tea in the cup is following the same rhythm as before, without any change."
"Then talk about the benefit you received," Mr. Fan said.
Yang Fan then recounted the conversation he just had with Lady Liu to Mr. Fan truthfully.
"That’s roughly the situation."
On the other end of the phone, Mr. Fan fell silent for quite a while before finally speaking up: "Your Grandmaster indeed mentioned such a woman before; it seems, my boy, you’ve really stumbled upon something this time. I thought you were a goner, but against all odds, you’ve ended up with a stroke of dumb luck."
Mr. Fan’s signature teasing tone was kicking in again.
Yang Fan just smiled, "This time, it does seem like I’ve gotten a bit lucky."
"Since that’s the case, then I’ll be on my way back. It looks like you’re fine now," Mr. Fan said.
"Don’t go, Master, since you’re already here, let me show you around a bit. Plus, don’t you want to meet her?" Yang Fan said, referring to the idea of Mr. Fan meeting Lady Liu.
"I need to think about that. I’ll give you an answer after I arrive. Don’t rush to spread the word," Mr. Fan pondered before adding, "Later, I’ll give you a call."
Yang Fan couldn’t see what there was to consider.
But since Mr. Fan had said so, there must be a reason, and Yang Fan didn’t press further.
"...Okay."
The call ended.
Yang Fan clasped his phone, staring blankly at the ruler and embroidered shoes before him for a moment.
He really had stepped into a big pile of dogshit luck.
"Sir, what’s wrong with you?" A voice suddenly sounded in his ear.
Turning his head, Yang Fan saw the stunning proprietress standing at the entrance of the private room, flanked by two middle-aged men. Though their features were quite different, they both had the same physique, short-necked and big-bellied, almost as if they were brothers.
"What do you mean ’what’s wrong’?" Yang Fan asked in confusion.
The stunning proprietress gestured to her own forehead.
Only then did Yang Fan realize, and wiped the dried traces of blood from his forehead, casually saying, "Nothing much, just saw something, a minor thing. Who might these gentlemen be?"
The stunning proprietress looked at Yang Fan with an odd expression and explained, "These are the two business owners next door, Boss Chen and Boss Zhu. They aren’t convinced by my suggestion and decided to come meet you in person."
"Nice to meet you, sir," said Boss Chen to Yang Fan’s left, sporting a particularly appalling comb-over, as he stepped forward to offer Yang Fan a cigarette, smiling, "Could you reveal to us what exactly is troubling our businesses?"
Yang Fan smiled, "Are you trying to test me, Boss Chen?"
"No, no, just that every effect has its cause, right? There must be a reason behind this. If it’s convenient, I’d like to know the situation, and also what kind of measures are you planning to use to resolve it," Boss Chen said cheerfully.
Yang Fan said, "There’s no special reason, it’s just you guys encroached on someone else’s territory. As for the solution, what kind of answer are you looking for? Something to give you peace of mind, or something more tangible?"
This time, the problem was resolved a bit too effortlessly.
The money that should be collected still needed to be collected, otherwise, his previous act would be for naught.
But he decided to leave the choice to them.
With a frown, Boss Chen said, "Sir, I’m not quite following what you’re saying."
"You should have heard plenty of such talk by now. You must be quite familiar with these matters," Yang Fan said with a smile, "If you want peace of mind, then I can only tell you that the issue has already been resolved, and there’s no need for you to worry about it anymore."
"But if you’re looking for a tangible answer, I could reveal some details to you. Yet, the result is the same, the issue has been taken care of, and there’s nothing to worry about going forward. Occasional minor incidents similar to this may arise in the future, but pay them no heed—they won’t cause any trouble."
