Chapter 675: Chapter 675
The lady boss dressed in red stockings leaned against the frame of the private room’s door, looking at Yang Fan with a charming smile.
"My rates are quite flexible, depending on the difficulty of the task. And this one... clearly isn’t simple," Yang Fan said. "To speak frankly, I’m only about seventy to eighty percent confident I can handle this matter, so my rate is eight thousand."
The lady boss, covering her mouth and nose with a menu, chuckled and said: "So, do you charge based on how confident you are?"
"Not exactly," Yang Fan replied, "Though I’m just seventy or eighty percent sure, I am confident I will resolve this issue for you. That you can be assured of. Taking money to dispel disasters for others, I am confident in that regard."
"That sounds fair. I won’t ask how you’re going to ensure a solution—it’s part of your professional expertise, which I might not understand even if you explained it. I just have one question: how much will you refund if you can’t resolve it?" the lady boss asked seriously, being a businesswoman concerned about the details.
"Half," Yang Fan said.
"Acceptable," the lady boss considered for a moment before responding, "Well then, let’s do this - I’ll count your fee as six thousand, and later, I can give you an additional two thousand, ok? Of course, that’s if the problem is solved. If not, you’d need to refund me two thousand."
Yang Fan nodded, "Sounds good."
"Would you like to see the current state of your shop first?"
"Is that possible?" the lady boss asked in surprise.
"Yes," Yang Fan nodded slightly, "As long as you’re brave enough, not afraid of getting mentally disturbed and unable to sleep later, if you want to, I can handle it. Seeing it will also serve as proof that I’ve thoroughly resolved the issue. We aren’t doing a sloppy job here."
The lady boss hesitated for a moment, "You, sir, do seem quite different from the others. I’ve seen many masters, but none quite so straightforward as you."
"No particular reason, simply because I’m confident," Yang Fan explained, "Other masters fear you might spot some tricks, ruining their deception. For me, that’s pointless. If people believe and see the results for themselves, my business will flourish, and I plan to turn this side job into my main occupation."
"You’re still doing this part-time?" the lady boss asked, surprised.
Yang Fan nodded, "Yes, my main job is a Medicine Dealer, collecting medicinal materials."
"That’s quite unexpected," the lady boss chuckled softly.
Yang Fan lit a cigarette, smiling amusedly, "You didn’t think I was just some professional conman, did you? No need to answer, I can guess from your expression."
"Honestly, I’m not great at lying. I just happened to come across this situation. If I pretended not to see this, and later something turned this place into a disaster zone with lives lost, it wouldn’t be good for me either. The cycle of karma greatly affects us practitioners, so I’m telling you upfront. It’s your call to make. If anything happens later, it won’t be much related to me—that’s what I mean."
The lady boss apologized somewhat sheepishly, "I understand, really, sorry about that."
However, Yang Fan saw that she still didn’t completely trust him.
But Yang Fan didn’t mind too much.
Making a small profit is certainly better than a total loss.
"By the way, you might want to discuss this matter with your neighbors," Yang Fan said again. "Your shop is in the central position, and the guest houses on either side are also affected."
"I have no problem discussing it with them, but could you not mention it to them? Treat it all the same without any distinction about the center or the sides," the lady boss requested.
Understanding her point immediately, Yang Fan sensed her worry about potential trouble from the neighboring guest houses.
"Sure, this situation isn’t caused by you; no matter how you look at it, it really has nothing to do with you," Yang Fan said.
"Then for those two, I’ll also quote them eight thousand, and you just don’t mention anything about it," the lady boss said, "This way, you’ll earn a bit more, and I’ll have much less trouble. I know those neighbors very well, stingy to the core. If they knew that my place was the center and theirs just the periphery, they’d definitely refuse to pay anything and would give both of us trouble. Although, fundamentally, this matter has nothing to do with us, they surely won’t see it that way."
Yang Fan nodded in agreement.
"Less trouble, more money; I’m naturally up for it. I just wanted to explain the situation to you," Yang Fan said.
"Alright, then I’ll go and talk to them," said the glamorous lady boss, smiling brightly.
This woman’s smile was enchanting, her large eyes seeming to ripple with water, as if naturally exuding tenderness.
"Actually, these two neighbors have almost been driven mad by this issue recently. I’ve seen them invite the Yin Yang Master over more than once, and guests have even stood in the street yelling at them, saying they stayed in a haunted house," the lady boss suddenly added.
"But facts are facts. If I were put at the forefront, as the center of this issue, they would definitely torment me to death. Mister, you absolutely must not slip up. In a while, I’ll arrange for the best our shop has to offer, and whenever Mister comes to visit in the future, I’ll give you an additional 20% discount."
She was still somewhat unsure.
Yang Fan chuckled, "Madam Boss, you really are meticulous. Don’t worry, I’ve got it."
"Also, one more thing I need to clarify. If I take action, it might cause some damage to your shop, like collapsing walls or a missing roof, and I am not responsible for that. I can’t earn little and also compensate for damages to your property. These matters can’t be handled delicately by Wen Jing; it’s definitely going to be a tough fight," Yang Fan detailed.
"That serious?" the lady boss was shocked, "I’ve seen many masters deal with such things and generally, they don’t cause any damage to the buildings, do they?"
"But did the problem get resolved?" Yang Fan asked.
"If it’s just one or two small creatures, there definitely wouldn’t be any damage to your shop, and I could solve that easily. But what’s residing here is akin to a big boss, a very fierce one. To put it differently, you could consider it as a king or a general among those beings."
The expression of the lady boss twisted slightly, "Alright, it sounds rather scary. Go ahead and do what must be done. I surely won’t give you any trouble; after all, you’re helping me solve my problem. I can’t expect you to work for free and even cover expenses. Let’s proceed as we just discussed. Shall I go talk to the neighbors?"
Yang Fan nodded, then paused and asked again, "So, will you take a look?"
