Chapter 608
Chapter 608: Chapter 608
Some things are indescribable and unfathomable, even for Yang Fan who has entered this path, they remain unclear.
But he knew one standard. When you feel those things are evil, they must be evil.
Even if it appears as a Buddha full of pity and compassion.
Wang Daqiang filled Yang Fan’s cup with water and said softly in awe, "This family is pretty bold, daring to deal with so much stuff at home. If they went to perform a divination, they’d probably get beaten to death!"
Yang Fan chuckled and asked curiously, "Have you seen something like this?"
"I haven’t seen anyone beaten for asking questions, but I really have seen someone beaten for a diviner not watching his mouth. It was miserable," Wang Daqiang laughed, "Once they started jumping around, they aimed right for the head, and even several strong men couldn’t hold it down."
"Such things really do happen." Yang Fan exclaimed.
Wang Daqiang couldn’t help being curious, "Fanzi, you’re so skilled, don’t you know about these things?"
"I’ve never been to a temple in my life," Yang Fan shook his head.
He had heard many such stories: when a household was restless or there was an incurable illness, the locals would choose to go to the temple to inquire and seek a solution. Naturally, the more such stories spread, the more they became commonplace.
"Fanzi, let me ask you, the work you do must also be part of a Faction, right?" This simple topic piqued Wang Daqiang’s curiosity, and he asked humbly.
Yang Fan nodded, "Definitely."
He didn’t even need to think about that question.
However, he still didn’t know which Faction he belonged to; he had just found himself on board somewhat cluelessly.
Wang Daqiang shook his head and said emotionally, "I never would have thought you’re a big deal in this field. You don’t show off or reveal anything on normal days. It’s completely unexpected. Why do you conceal it so well in the village? If you showed off a little of your true ability, the business at our doorstep wouldn’t have been lost to outsiders."
Yang Fan hadn’t been putting on an act; he simply hadn’t known how to before.
After a pause, he shook his head and said, "Troublesome."
"That’s true. Business close to home indeed brings many troubles," Wang Daqiang immediately agreed with Yang’s sentiment, "If you do a good job, they complain you’re asking for too much money. If you can’t help them, they badmouth you behind your back, blaming you for this and that, damaging your reputation."
"The money is easy to earn but it comes with too much aggravation. If you have even a slightly bad temper, you’re bound to offend people. It’s definitely not worth it. It’s much more comfortable to go out of town, where you only talk business and not personal favors."
Yang Fan smiled.
This guy sure knew how to add his two cents.
Yang Fan neither objected nor agreed. He went with the flow when doing this and hadn’t yet officially considered it a side job.
The moving company’s truck arrived.
Huo Xiaorou was quite decisive, calling not one but two vans in one go.
The cars stopped at the gate, and no fewer than six employees got out.
After a brief understanding of the task at hand, these people started working under Huo Xiaorou’s direction.
Yang Fan leisurely sipped his tea as he watched them load one item after another onto the truck.
So many items being sent up the mountain would probably give the temple folks a shock.
Many hands make light work, and all the things collected by Huo Xiaorou’s old father were moved out in less than half an hour.
Huo Xiaorou came to Boss Yang and said, "Boss Yang, could you please check again? I’m going to send these items away now. When I return, I’ll treat you all to a big meal. I’ll definitely give you a great treat tonight."
"Go ahead, you’re busy," Yang Fan said with a wave of his hand.
Huo Xiaorou smiled and nodded, then got into her sedan and, accompanied by the moving company’s truck, left.
Yang Fan didn’t rush to check Huo Xiaorou’s house but continued to enjoy the breeze and the shade at the doorway. It wasn’t until the tea in the cup tasted watered down that he put down the teacup and entered Huo Xiaorou’s house again with Wang Daqiang.
This time it felt much more comfortable.
Just that there was still a slight uncomfortable sensation lingering.
After looking around with his Heavenly Eye Technique, Yang Fan found that the discomfort was probably due to the residual influence of those items. It was like a room that had been sealed for many years, where even after it had been cleaned, the odor would still need several days to dissipate completely.
"Almost there, today’s sideline business has been quite a success," Yang Fan said with a smile.
Wang Daqiang said, "Fanzi, I think you should stick to your previous charging standards. This woman is a big boss, and as long as the problem is solved smoothly, she shouldn’t begrudge the money."
Yang Fan shook his head and replied, "Actually, I don’t really have a pricing standard. I just charge based on the difficulty of the situation, and make considerations. I mentioned twenty thousand before because that woman was really infuriating. I said it just to get back at her."
"This little matter really isn’t worth so much money; anything reasonable will do."
"Fanzi, you are still too kind-hearted," praised Wang Daqiang. "If this were left to those who are not skilled but are good at bluffing, this lady boss would definitely be fleeced."
"Doing business, one should think about the long term," Yang Fan said. "Who knows if she might have similar issues in the future. If I charge a fair price now and handle the job well, then naturally, she would think of me when something comes up."
Wang Daqiang nodded, "Fanzi, you really have foresight!"
Yang Fan: ...
He looked at Wang Daqiang somewhat helplessly, "With your bushy eyebrows and big eyes, that’s enough already. If you keep flattering me like this, I fear I’ll ascend to heaven right here. I don’t have any foresight, I’m just acting according to my conscience."
The flattery was making him uncomfortable all over, with even a twitch developing in his calves.
Wang Daqiang laughed, "Fanzi, this isn’t flattery, I’m just telling it like it is. Just considering this lady boss’s father, I have a feeling her family will surely be in need of your services again."
"Just now, the lady boss also mentioned that her father is very stubborn, her mother can’t control him, and she has no room to talk. As long as he’s up and about, he will surely mess with those things again, and with prolonged involvement, problems are bound to resurface."
"Right, you remind me," Yang suddenly said. "I need to bring this up with Huo Xiaorou in advance. If her dad gets out of the hospital and starts fiddling with those things again, and then she turns around to say my methods didn’t work, that would be a mess."
"You do need to clarify that," said Wang Daqiang. "Fanzi, actually, I think your ’no charge if it doesn’t work’ policy might have dug a hole for yourself. It seems that no one in your field has ever done that before."
"Although it indeed quickly earns you trust, it could lead to big troubles later on. It’s much simpler and less troublesome to not say anything and just charge for each problem you solve."
Yang Fan nodded, "You make a lot of sense. I should indeed think it over."
