Chapter 470
Chapter 470: Chapter 470
Before Granny Wang mentioned it, Yang Fan could not have imagined how curious he was.
But after she spoke, Yang Fan’s curiosity only increased, now with a bit of imaginative space, leading him to desperately want to know what it was all about, where that place was, and what it looked like. Were there mountains and grasslands, blue skies and white clouds?
In an instant, Yang Fan’s thoughts had expanded infinitely.
Unfortunately, Granny Wang could not talk about it.
This must have involved some sort of rules, and if she had talked, maybe it would have completely vanished like the mysterious beings he had encountered that night.
One person and one... Yin Spirit, one walking, the other floating toward Wang Daqiang’s house.
Their house was just below this road.
"Little Fanzi, you are out so late tonight, is there something wrong in the village?" Granny Wang suddenly asked.
Yang Fan nodded, "There indeed are some problems, some mysterious beings appeared, and I was trying to find them."
"That’s it, maybe Granny can help you with this," Granny Wang suddenly smiled.
"Although I’m still not quite sure, in my not very clear memory, there seems to be such a matter, where these mysterious beings seemed to prefer devouring wandering souls of our kind who had newly passed away."
"I’ll wait here for a while, maybe they will come to us on their own. Can you handle them if there are too many?"
"Well, it seems you really can help, Granny. Then I won’t be polite. There shouldn’t be too many of them, nor are they likely to come all at once," Yang Fan said.
He had been walking around the village for most of the day, and it was quite torturous.
If there were a shortcut, that would truly be perfect.
"So I go in first to sneak the stuff out, and then we wait at the intersection?" Yang Fan asked.
"Up to you, it seems none are here yet," Granny Wang said.
Yang Fan nodded in agreement.
While they were talking, they arrived at Wang Daqiang’s house.
It was just below the road, a few minutes’ walk away.
The front had a lamp with a broken dish as a shade lit, and the vermilion door was slightly open, indeed unlocked.
Yang Fan tiptoed to the door and quietly listened for any noise inside.
A distant murmur of voices came from inside, but it was unclear what was being said.
Yang Fan glanced at Granny Wang floating beside him and quietly pushed open the door.
Squeak...
A very slight sound arose.
The old iron gate, given its age, had this common problem—it was basically impossible to open it silently.
Yang Fan listened again to ensure no noise was detected before quietly peeking through the crack of the door to look into the courtyard. Two rooms were lit, the main house and the north room, with the voices coming from the north room.
Yang Fan, holding the door with both hands, tried not to make too much noise as he quietly pushed the door open and slipped in, quickly hiding behind a stack of firewood in the yard where the light could not reach, assuming it should be invisible even if someone came out.
After crouching there for a while, Yang Fan then quietly moved closer to the north room where voices were heard.
Through the gap in the curtains, Yang Fan saw a man and a woman sitting on the sofa talking seriously.
No matter the gender, everyone there was an acquaintance of his.
After all, in the village, you can’t help but see each other constantly.
There was a pot of meat soup on the table in front of them.
Without a doubt, that was probably the chicken soup that poisoned Old Mrs. Wang.
Unless someone was severely mentally twisted, an average person wouldn’t be able to sit and chat over meat with their lover right after poisoning someone.
"No, no, pouring it out would be too easily discovered," Kou Miao, sitting cross-legged, shook her head and said.
She dressed very provocatively, hardly resembling a villager at all.
With her grey-dyed hair, brightly colored lipstick, a tight red blouse, black leather mini-skirt, paired with black stockings and high heels.
Her overall look was strikingly bold.
It very much resembled the style of a woman Yang Fan had seen in the store without a sign in the Herb Market.
But the aesthetics were off; grey hair paired with a red blouse didn’t look very appealing.
Sitting beside her, Shen Zhongwei, who had his arm around Kou Miao’s waist, furrowed his brows and said, "We could dig a hole and bury it deep, or dump it into the methane pit, they definitely wouldn’t find it."
"Dig a hole and bury it; although dumping into the methane pit would be more efficient, it’s too troublesome to do so," Kou Miao said.
"Right, also throw away the bowl Old Mrs. Wang used; keeping that is also asking for trouble."
"Exactly, exactly, my little darling is always so thoughtful," Shen Zhongwei said, thumbs up in approval.
He was the same generation as Shen Lin, but looked older with his dark skin, appearing to be over fifty.
Kou Miao was only in her thirties.
The two of them together, passionately involved, even resorted to plotting murder and financial deceit.
It utterly shocked Yang Fan what Kou Miao was after; he couldn’t comprehend it.
The topic of discussion between the two in the house was now obvious; it was evidence disposal.
"Figured out what you’re going to say to Wang Daqiang?" Shen Zhongwei asked.
Kou Miao scoffed with disdain, "Fooling him is easy, much easier than fooling a ghost. I’ll call him after daybreak, tell him his mom suddenly passed away. I’ll cry a little, and I guarantee he won’t suspect a thing and will rush over to mourn."
"What’s important now is the Yin Yang Master; we must send off the body soon. The longer we wait, the less at ease I feel."
"I think, we shouldn’t do it like this," Shen Zhongwei, lighting a cigarette and shaking his head, said, "Although we’ve paid him, who knows if the Yin Yang Master might call the police? Pressuring him to send off the body sooner, especially since I found the guy, would definitely make him suspicious—what if he figures something out?"
"I think just getting rid of this meat soup is enough; we shouldn’t do anything else. You just mourn quietly, and I’ll lay low for a couple of days. When it’s time for the mourning, I’ll come over and actively help out, and we’ll be past this."
Kou Miao thought it over carefully, "That’s true, the more you do, the more mistakes you make; it’s better to do nothing. I’m just worried whether the poison I used on the old lady was too strong; what if her face shows some changes or something by then?"
"I’ll teach you a trick!" Shen Zhongwei suddenly said, "Old Mrs. Wang has no daughters, you just need to volunteer to take care of the body yourself, make it passable. In this hot weather, it only takes two days for the livor mortis and smell to set in, then everything will be covered up."
"Me go? I... but I’m scared, what if Old Mrs. Wang comes back to haunt me? I dare not!" Kou Miao hurriedly said.
"This is the safest method; just bear it a little, and it will be fine. There are no ghosts in this world," Shen Zhongwei reassured.
"She was completely obedient to you when she was alive; how could she harm you now that she’s dead?"
Yang Fan looked at Old Mrs. Wang, who was floating beside him, and really wanted to say, why don’t you just finish these two off yourself?
